    Thank you so much, Grant Stevens. I'm a very dedicated boxer. I'm a Masters Boxer (with the utmost honesty and humility a 6X Champion:) that's 52 years young. I'm glad to have subscribed to your TH-cam channel. Keeping a wider stance as you mentioned (reminds me of Dmitry Bivol's stance) is how I fight. The foundation always starts with technique! Personally, I'm a southpaw switch hitter and a strong advocate of excellent technique. For example, as you stated, unleashing our jabs and straights fast (straight line trajectory) and bringing them back fast to the same position- never dropping the hands. Ronald "Winky" Wright, Dmitry Bivol, and Andre "SOG" Ward are three of my biggest influences. Thank you. May my Mighty Lord Jesus Christ, always bless you, Champ.

    Always practicing perfect technique with good economical form instead of doing tons of speed drills with bad form.

      I've been boxing 8 years and practicing martial arts for almost 30 years. I am still refining my technique and improving almost on a daily or weekly basis through shadow boxing. I thought I was good after 2 years 😂😂

      So true, in 4 years of my training 2 years ago training multiple different martial arts like Boxing, TKD, JKD, MMA Thinking I Got good Technique But after Researching Body mechanics and Kinetic chain mechanics
      I have body mechanics but still not good as him...
      So after 4 months Watching grantstevens Kinetic chain sequence, Punching/Kicking tips, and Others ect.
      My Martial arts Went Skyrocket, I can't even believe myself I'm not trying to boast but my punches and kicks were Super fast Clean and Fluid
      And Now, Everyday is a Fun day in my solo Training
      This is the reason why I love Technical details and deep Information Martial arts and What capable of a human body can do rather than the drills itself

    Such an important statement "You need to enjoy the process. If everything is just a means to an end, you can't stick to it in that mind frame." Thanks for the videos mate, cheers!

    Hey man I hardly ever comment on videos just wanted to drop in and say that I’m really enjoying your recent vids, I’ve been following you a few years now, it seems like your more consistent with uploading recently. You sparked the idea for me to practice the “eccentric” portions of my striking a few years back and seemed like my striking level up by leagues within some months. You really point out the micro nuances in this video too and your techniques are always impeccable. Big fan bro. All the way from Texas!

    Excellent explanation. Concave vs Convex (posture). I started with basic combos of 1-2 adding first head movement, then slips/rolls, parry, back and forth, side to side and gradually getting quicker. Just 30 mins a day for a month and you will build a serious foundation to springboard off.

      That’s what it’s all about man. I don’t understand how people think there’s any secrets to it other than practice all the time

    I call it a hollow body, when you kinda "hunch" in the stance

  • @chris8691
    @chris8691 ปีที่แล้ว

    The part when you was talking about not fully rotating into the punch and really only your lower body that’s moving is that causes your feet to slide back that was the exact issue I was having in class I always look at other people’s technique when we throw jab cross knee strike my feet is the only that slides out and for the past months I’ve been trying to figure out why it was doing that 😂 thanks grant for pointing that out and as soon as you did point that out I pause the video tried rotating the whole body as unit and I felt like had more control so that was amazing to

    Primary reason to retract your punches back to the chin area is to protect the chin area from counters right?

    A good book I would recommend would be TVP by Rakesh Kumar Sondhi & Tommy Thompson. Barely anyone taught me shit about fundamentals and that book really helped with sharpening up mine.

    I always enjoy learning the biomechanics of techniques. I find in martial art training alot of the time the instructor doesnt really focus n the foot placemement for each technique and I find that is always something missing that I think about.

    • @grantstevensma
      @grantstevensma  ปีที่แล้ว

      Couldn’t agree more man and unfortunately I think that’s because the majority of instructors aren’t very good and have no idea about those nuances so they could never teach them

    Great video but how do u check kicks with that stance with the weight being almost 50/50

    • @grantstevensma
      @grantstevensma  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By adjusting your stance according to the situation. You should never believe there is 'one' type of stance for all situations. This video is focussed on boxing techniques specifically in which this stance is best suited.

    • @grantstevensma

      The style I formally did the longest for about a year or so was TKD, and then a little Wing Chun, but then after that I mainly just trained with other martial artists in a range of styles
