Red Tape comes from the situation after the Civil War when vets had to apply for their pensions.... The files were wrapped in red tape...

It comes from earlier than that. Some say Charles V and others say it was the red ribbons used to bind the sheaves of paper used in bills passed by the House of Lords. $100 bucks says that there are contradictory TH-cam documentaries on the subject, all of them plausible.
I heard the cavemen used it as incentive to invent the wheel.

We need standards for meat inspection and pharmacy regulations for public safety. We've seen how deregulating kills in the East Palestine and the Big Freeze in Texas. Corporate profits should never come before public safety.
We obey traffic laws. We endure the Red Tape of income taxes. The enforcement of better rules will save lives.
Over regulation is a much larger problem than to few regulations. A reasonable amount of regulation is, or should be everyone's goal.

This is America and freedom is and should be a large concern when considering new or strong regulations. Benjamin Franklin once said, " they who would give up essential Liberty for temporary security, deserve neither Liberty nor security."
@@Mongoosed so does freedom mean companies should be free to dump chemical waste into our water sources or meat packaging plants don't have to clean their equipment until they feel like it, or rail companies don't have to inspect and maintain their tracks until an accident happens and they go out and pretend like they're fixing something until the public moves their focus to the next disaster and quits paying attention, etc, etc, etc? There's a big difference between freedom and neglectful practices that affect everyone that are only prevented by regulations. If people used their freedom to be responsible and make good choices there would be no need for them but unfortunately that's not the case.

Bump Stocks do not make the weapon automatic, it makes it fire fast but it is still semi-automatic. You can do the same thing with your belt loop.
So what? Then everyone can use their belt loop. No need for bump stocks. The point is to stop the guns from firing faster so that less people per minute die from the bullets coming from the guns.

@@Remember_when - You can use your beltloop to fire them fast, it does the same thing as a bump stock. So banning bump stocks does nothing, the capability is still readily available. Firing faster does not mean more deadly. Knifes kill more people than rifles.
