  • From the "Viva PAIGC Cabo Verde" LP
    Info on the back sleeve:
"Not so long ago the music of this record could only be hummed. Since the revolution in Portugal, largely influenced by the liberation movements such as PAIGC, MPLA and FRELIMO in the African colonies of the fascist government that ruled Portugal for fifty years, the people of the Cape Verdean Islands may finally sing what they want: freedom! That freedom is there now, but it is a freedom in misery: the famine, for one part caused by a drought period of seven years, and for another part the result of the colonial Portuguese regime, which can only be overcome with great difficulty thanks to food shipments. And food shipments are not a structural solution.
The workers of the islands of Sal and Santiago, who on this record share their revolutionary songs, hope for a better future, rely on our solidarity. Their texts speak a clear tongue, which we can be easily understood, even without the included booklet.
The music was recorded in April 1975 for the film "Het gaat niet goed met mij..." (I'm not doing well...) by Roeland Kerbosch
    Recording: Mady Saks
Editing: Harre van der Maat, Eli van Thijn
    Cover: Johan Wiggers
This record was issued by the NOVIB in the context of the promotion: "Sahel and the Islands of Cape Verde", May 1975.
The proceeds from this album will benefit the PAIGC"
