Love the way you sound soooo joyful talking about your plants, it’s contagious and I see you as a real plant lover and not just those plant tubers that all of a sudden acts like you tube stars for owning “rare” overpriced plants. Your knowledge and passion is the reason I comeback to watch every new episode. Thank you Nick!
Love your point about needing at least a full growing season to get to know a houseplant and how it grows in your home! I think sometimes we get antsy and forget this. Thank you!
I always appreciate hearing your unique recommendations and favorites. We have very similar taste in plants so I always leave your videos with a new plant on my list, haha.
Agleonema modestum is an oldschool plant. My grandmas was dying from root rot so I rescued it and took two cuttings and they are growing beautifly and in my school that is 100 yo has giant poots of aglonemas modestums that flower in spring!
love your videos, and the fact that you are in for the long haul with your plants. One advantage of owning larger collections is that there is always one that is showing its love. Truly uplifting.
Ahhh! I have that Aglaonema too and I love love love collecting them all I have this one by my White diamond and they compliment each other so well. I look at houseplants like putting patterns together for a quilt and you need those solids to balance the look when you display / cluster to make focal points of greenery happiness. I say she is stunning!
Great video, I have Aglaonema modestum, it came from one of my mother's plants I inherited. This plant is crazy easy to grow, during the winter I have it in my foyer with east facing window temperature around 50, during the summer I put it in a shady spot on the deck. Water around once a week. I wish I could add a picture it is around 3.5' tall in a 30 inch pot. So easy to propagate, I have given it away often. It is a plant which thrives in any conditions.
I am a San's collector I just love them and this one I do not have. How cool is this lil plant. I'm already working on my Spring plant shopping list of 2022 on my fridge lol. In all honesty that plant looks like a high heel shoe just waiting to walk away lol.
When I'm having a bad day your videos always perk me up! Thank you! I love Hoya curtsii and the tiny cutting I bought didn't root. I will eventually try again, and hope I can find a larger established one. And there is nothing wrong with simple green plants. There leaves contrast plant displays and make everything pop!
I purchased a Hoya Pachyclada about 3 or 4 months ago and it is growing great very easy care - I have it under a grow light because winter in Minnesota does not have very much light. I have not given it any additional humidity but it seems to be fine.
I just took desperate action with my Curtisii. I removed it from the original pot and put it into a terracotta orchid pot with mostly orchid mix. The leaves have stopped turning yellow and it looks pretty good. Fingers crossed.
I randomly found an Aglonemia modestum at a local grocery store. It's been a super easy, forgiving plant. It gets low to medium light in my bathroom and has been happy as a clam.
That Philodendron is a Florida Green! You found it for a great price! I love mine so much it has started to give me some dark and light green striping in its newest leaves!
Hi Nick! I stumbled across your YT a few months ago and I’m so glad that I did…love watching! You always say to follow on IG (which I do) but you’ve starved us of your awesome content since May 😭 Please have mercy and grace us with your presence on that platform too. ❤️
I have a Hoya Curtisii and she is doing so much better since I moved her from a SW window to an NE window. I have a couple of your 2021 on my wishlist for 2022.
LOVE THE FLORIDA! I purchased a small one with juvenile leaves. I figured that it would be awhile before I saw any large loved ones. Nope! He acclimated quickly and has been growing large leaves, like a weed.🥰.
I love that aglaonema too! I am also a fan of plain green plants that many others might dare call “boring”. I feel that way about non variegated monstera standleyana. So hard to find but so much more beautiful than the variegated versions.
Hi Nick. I just want to say that any plant that lives, in spite of me, is spectacular imo! So, plain green, spectacular! I'm moving into an apartment next week that has two whole windows in the whole place. One window in the bedroom and a sliding glass door in the living room. And guess what; they both face north! 🥺 You're so lucky!
I am loving all your spot lighted plants! Hoya Curtisii has been so easy for me and grows so quickly! I am done taking cuttings for friends in hopes it flowers for me now. I adore Aglaonema. I have quite a few and it seems like different varieties ask for different care! I cannot figure that part out yet and it baffles me.
That hanging Dischidia you have is so big and lovely! I bought a small one that was sold as "Dischidia 'Emerald'" or "Dischidia bengalensis 'Variegata'." It seems to be a slow grower but, as you said, quite drought tolerant. I water it about once a month and it's looking fine!
Florida’s are great, they all have red petioles and they say is a cross of pedatum and squami! The flordia beauty is the 3 digits for a dang cutting, that’s the variegated version! Lol the ghost is by far my favorite though, which produces white leaves then transition to green. It’s incredible.
The pedatum has the green petioles. I find it funny that so many people try to sell the flordia as a flordia beauty. Which a beauty is a beautiful variegation- so definitely much different! Lol
Hi Nick! Those are some really pretty plants. I didn't realize that there is an all green aglaonema. I'll have to watch for one. Actually, I wouldn't mind having all of the ones you showed. LOL! I love the joy you show when talking about your plants. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks Nick for a great video, I love to buy plants, and go a little crazy sometimes. I really love all of my Hoya, I have a Hoya Curtisii that I got at Walmart and it is huge and doing so awesome. I also love Aglaonema, the green ones and the colorful ones. Learning how to take care of our plants is part of being a plant parent, and I have a buy three rule, I will buy a plant three times as I am learning how to take care of them and will not buy it after that, usually after three times I have learned how to take care of the plant, so I don't need to buy it again, but I will repurchase a plant even if I already have one. Thanks again for another very fun video, sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Ok good I'm not crazy lol! I've had Dischidia varieities on my wishlist for awhile and was confused when I would see them labelled as Hoya or Peperomia. Hoping someone here has an answer!
I have that Philodendron, when I bought mine I was told it's a Philodendron Florida Red Stem. Who knows what the name truly is, but I just thought I would share. ✌️💚😊
I'm so envious of your dischidia. I ordered one online and it was essentially dead when it arrived. I also got a dead dischidia ovata. It was my only negative experience with online orders. I tried to nurse them back to health but they didn't make it 😔
Have you seen the p. Squamiferum from costa farms? I love that leaf shape too and was completely blindsided because I didn't know they were producing them. I'm thrilled.
I actually have an agleonema Modesta . It’s very old my Grandma had it and it took me months to figure out what it actually was. I love it but it naturally always looks sad.
I loveeee curtisii it’s one of my top fave Hoyas. But dear god if mine isn’t a magnet for spider mites. 😩😩 My Dischidias die if I love them so I got upset with it and tossed mine on the back shelf to die and now it’s thriving. 🤣🤣
Nick it would be nice to know where your go to plant stores are. So tired of the lame choices here so I would love to find some unique material in the Philly metro area. If you have already addressed this my apologies. I’m new to your channel and I’m basically an idiot Thank you for great content!
Wow I’m early! Also, I’ve wanted to say this for forever but, I’m really jealous of your collection. I don’t have a single plant place near me, so I have to order everything online! It kills me because I don’t know for sure what I’m buying. And no one near me wants to trade, and I have pretty much all common plants! And also I only have 1, south facing window! That’s my only window! Do you have any websites you recommend? Other then Steve’s Leaves?
i know your question is directed at nick, but i’d love to share some good experiences i’ve had. violet barn (gesneriads) and logee’s are right up there with steve’s, imo…other happys have been from gabriella, california tropicals, mountain crest gardens (succulents), and potted elephant. enjoy!
wow, that's the first time I've seen someone worrying about fern spores indoors. Believe me, spores is the last problem you'll get with ferns :))) in order for them to spore they must be quite happy and that's not what majority of people experience with ferns :))) But joking aside - I grow a lot of ferns at home and they are wonderful houseplants if you don't mind watering your plants every day. Although staghorn is a bit more resistant so I think you should go for it. It needs a lot of light though. I haven't had any of them spore excessively yet so I wouldn't worry.
I'm also a green plant lover!! Some say "boring", but I love a deep green, shiny, happy plant.
I love how your eyes genuinely light up when you talk about the plants you love.
Love your point about needing at least a full growing season to get to know a houseplant and how it grows in your home! I think sometimes we get antsy and forget this. Thank you!
Very true!
I love how you always talk about plants that are unique and not a trend.
I always appreciate hearing your unique recommendations and favorites. We have very similar taste in plants so I always leave your videos with a new plant on my list, haha.
Right!
Happy Holidays Nick! You have been a real friendly face and entertainment to me during these past two years 🥰
Agleonema modestum is an oldschool plant. My grandmas was dying from root rot so I rescued it and took two cuttings and they are growing beautifly and in my school that is 100 yo has giant poots of aglonemas modestums that flower in spring!
I don't remember where i got mine from but after a decade or more I have about five full pots of those. You don't see them at all for sale anymore
@@gloriatribue7305 Yeah and thats kinda sad they are pretty.

Thanks for showing us interesting plants that no one else seems to talk about! Love the knowledge you have of them as well
I have the Hoya pac. Slow grower for me. Never met a Hoya I didn’t like.
Adore Dischidia! Seriously underrated plants. I have the non-variegated version and it grows so well for me.
I love your videos. I look forward to every upload. Thank you, Nick.
I really appreciate your videos man, very knowledgeable and stick to the topic while making it engaging. Great stuff

Love the walking sanseveria. Gotta look for one soon, super cool!

Hello nick I love all of your house plants omg unfortunately we had a fire about three weeks ago and our home and everything we own and had is gone
So, so sorry! I can only imagine how much that hurts!
That's terrible! Sorry to hear that, Tara and I hope your family will recover and thrive again very soon.
Bless, hard losing everything. Hope new starts are kind to you.
Plain green plants are my favourite too. My Hoya australis is my favourite plant whereas a lot of people think that's dull.
My favs that I have got this year is my adansonii, elephant ear

Love the pinguicula! They are hard to come by though. I've never seen them locally.

I love your videos! I was hung up on wanting a Florida beauty but you’ve inspired me to love the plain green!
I’m so jealous of your Hoya Curtisii. Mine died a slow, painful death. I’m afraid to drop the cash for another one.
The only even worse one, I can't keep alive is Krohniana super silver...
I love that aglaonema too! I am also a fan of plain green plants that many others might dare call “boring”. I feel that way about non variegated monstera standleyana. So hard to find but so much more beautiful than the variegated versions.

I bet the all green agleonema would do well in the darkest spots.
Aglonema pedatum... The most exciting house plant!!!!😦come on.

I'm on my second hoya curtisii. I had it outside in the summer and didn't touch it and it did really well and now I'm terrified to have it inside.
Ohhhh what’s the trick to your curtisii? Mine hasn’t done anything for me and I’ve had it for months?! 😩
Have you ever submitted a plant to the flower show?
I got three full ones from home depot
Ok. That dischidia looks just like a fake plant which I almost bought thinking it was real until I noticed it wasn't.
your pots are pretty. do you have plan of selling them?
My Curtisii is my most difficult Hoya. It hates me.
