- In my series, Authors Talking Shop, I sit down with the best genre writers working today. For this itieration, I talk with Simon and Shuster author Craig Davidson (aka Nick Cutter). We talk about his latest book, The Queen as well as some of his older works, The Troop, The Deep, and Little Heaven, as well as some of the literary fiction work he's put out under his given name, Craig Davidson, such as Rust and Bone and Cataract City. He tells me about some of his influences as a horror fan and we discuss some of the themes he often explores in his writing. #booktube #books #horrortube #horrorauthor #interview

Thanks Michael I have not read any of Mr Davidson's work but after this interview I will seek him out. He seems like a thoughtful, interesting man and at one point he seemed to turn the tables and began interviewing you. Good stuff.
Thank you, Paul, for the kind words. I'm a big fan of his work. And yes, I think, thoughtful and interesting are two good descriptives for him. Let me know how it works on you if you check him out.
Wow hahaha perfect timing to check back into the channel. I just happened to just finish reading The Troop and The Deep. Amazing Writer, loved those stories!
😁Welcome back. And we are in agreement: great writer!
I’m looking forward to reading this one! 🐝 Excellent conversation. Carrie meets the fly at the trailer park with acid. Say no more.
Thank you😁
Great interview! I just ordered The Deep yesterday. My first Cutter book.
Nice😁Please, let me know what you think once you've read it.
The Troop was also amazing if you enjoy The Deep!
This was great! I look forward to your next author interview...
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
I quite liked the give and take in this interview. I ended up learning a little bit about you as well. Being an author yourself, you asked open ended literary questions and the interview felt quite organic - like a conversation between friends.@@Michael_Wertenberg
@@smilerwithagun 😁I was quite nervous. But he's such a friendly guy and easy to talk to.
What an interesting guy, great interview, thank you Michael and thanks to Craig! The Queen is on my list. I haven't read Little heaven yet, i need to find out more about this fictional woman you're obsessed with Michael.😂 xx
Thanks Angel😃Little Heaven might be my favourite Cutter book (though they're all so different one from the other it's hard to say). And in my defence, I am not obsessed with her. I fantasize about other fictional women too!🙃
Loved the ease and familiarity of this conversation. Felt like I was hanging out with the homies talking books. I haven’t read any Cutter books yet cuz I assumed they were goodreads hype, but I am definitely going to check him out now.
Also, what’s the opening audio sample from: “Hey, what you readin for”?
@@sdruss83 That's part of a great skit from the much missed American comedian and all round good guy Bill Hicks.
Thank you for the kind words.😁Let me know what you think if you check him out.
👌👌
Definitely reading the Queen when it comes out; recently read The Troop and The Deep. What Wertenberg book should I start with, as a reader of horror novels? I'm guessing Edifice Complex
I love the comment!😃I'd say, for a pure horror experience, you might have to wait for the release of The Quick and The Still (late 2025/early 2026). But you may like Edifice Complex. It lives in the horror universe (with blood and violence and the supernatural), but it isn't scary; more weird and hopefully entertaining.
So far i just finished The Deep . I was imprerssed. Davidson /Cutter is the real deal! Sometimes I try these buzzed about authors and am left wanting but-nope. So now I want more. My question is-what was that early pseudonym he used Peter-something or other? I want to look those books up too. 😀
Patrick Lestewka. Those books might be hard to come by though. But Good luck. And thanks for watching and for the thoughtful comment😀
I think my comment, again, got the UNGAH bUNgAH ; The Queen is *on-order* at the library so I have a hold on it.
Nothing in the 'suspicious' folder. I hope you enjoy the book. You'll let me know.
