    Great work! Need more videos like this! Highly recommend creating more content like this go in great detail.

    Here in Vegas we also use overlaps for left turn flashing yellow arrows. On those we also hook up resistors to the unused greens on the load switches to prevent the conflict monitor from throwing the system into flash mode due to it thinking there's an open green circuit.

    Awesome video. I always wondered what the ring and barrier thing was when I seen an engineer draw it out at an intersection. Keep it coming man, very informative. Will also check mutcd!
    Thanks

      Sweet! Yeah, it took me some time to grasp it years ago, so I do my best to explain it as easy as possible.

    Can you please explain the Veh extension, Max Gap and Min gap in a 233 timing sheet. I would really appreciate a video regarding those three for a 170 controller. Thank you!

    Hello from CT, very interesting video on phasing. Speaking of phasing, I recently told you of a signal which we installed that completely eliminated Phase 1 from 1500 to 1830. Well, as it turns out the braintrusts at CTDOT have revised the program to allow 35" of green time during max 2 (0630 - 0900) and 10" of green time during max 1 (all other times) thus allowing phase 1 to operate all day until nighttime flash at 2200. The Engineer which I had shown your reply to had actually taken your advice!!
    Our controllers here in CT use the phasing as illustrated in this video, however it is standard to insert Phase 9 in between rings if the intersection has an exclusive pedestrian phase. Until next time STAY SAFE!!

      Cool! Yeah, a little bit of time on a max2 was the way to go. Yeah, exclusive peds are fun also.

    Thanks for the posts, just wanted to ask if you know any sites/channels that explain SCATS programming for phasing sets of traffic lights?

  • @natashagraves9744
    @natashagraves9744 ปีที่แล้ว

    If there is a dispute between who had red v. green light, what would a police officer need to look for--and find--in order to hold someone liable for the accident (i.e., running a red light v. green)? Especially if there was no witnesses to the accident or video footage.

  • @Optim40
    @Optim40 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm curious who decides how long each light signal lasts for ?

    • @jontooley2530
      @jontooley2530 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually a traffic engineering firm will come and perform a SCAT study (Signal Coordination and Timing) on a corridor of traffic signals. Their findings are then implemented into the controller.

      Its a setting in the controller. Used usually for side streets. Demand on either side allows both sides to be serviced

    What is the difference between intervals and splits?

    • @trafficsignalstraining7673
      @trafficsignalstraining7673  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An interval is a term used to describe a set amount of time a phase is served within a cycle...
      A split is a term describing an interval assigned to a phase during coordination... I haven't made a video on coordination yet, but I should!

  • @judithchavezdealfaro1536
    @judithchavezdealfaro1536 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    But what if there's somebody waiting on the left turn lane but nobody waiting on the side street

    • @trafficsignalstraining7673
      @trafficsignalstraining7673  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If there is no detection on the side street and there is a protected left turn at the end of the max cycle length for the main Street, the opposing through movement would terminate allowing for the left turn to serve green. After that movement has been served it will then terminate and then cycle back to the opposing through Street movement.
