Alex Morgan is the player people want to see she play. Only 20 minutes left then loudest crown and cheerful welcome Alex step on field, but it doesn’t stop there the crown get louder and louder when Alex put the ball in the net score another GOAL for USA. She is the only player I ever see both USA & Japan fans cheer together when Alex score goal. Everyone love her - Alex Morgan.
Ertz did wonder, she should start every game. Even when the whole defense was beaten, she was there to stop the ball. Long didn't manage to do that when the Aussies scored. The absence of Long did wonder too, Mewis was able to go forward, the defense was not worried about not being backed up, Ertz distributed the ball well. Short is no good as an outside back. She didn't do the most basic thing for an outside back: push opposing players to the line, putting her body on them to stop the cross... she didn't do well in the attack either. Lucky the Japanese aren't much into the cross from the side attack. I still don't see much in Mewis. She's supposed to create plays but I didn't see much of it. She has the signature grass cutting hit, but that's it. Morgan is back, I'm so glad. Lloyd is just shut out, the good thing about her is the opposing team had to spend a lot of time shutting her out, giving other players space. Dalhkemper seems to get a grip of her passing back, or not passing back, that's great. Naerher is better, She is still not Hope Solo. Even her kick of the ball up seems to not go straight or to her teammates. But after Solo, everyone looks weak. Overall, the ladies did well. Ellis' treatment of Krieger is shameful.
Kenny Glatzel I agree with you for the most part. However, I like short. She has speed and had a great cross to Press. I also like Mewis. She's very aggressive and a great target on set pieces. She also had the pass to set up the assist for Taylor Smith to Morgan. Also, I don't know why everyone is so sad/mad about Kreiger not getting any time. She's not what she used to be. I prefer Smith, O'Hara and Short over her. Well need a backup CB in the World Cup and maybe that's where she comes in but again, she may not be the best fit anymore. Especially since it seems like Dahlkemper is the other definite starter next to Sauerbrunn and Short can play there too along with Ertz. However, I wouldn't mind putting players such as Dunn and Heath in the outside back positions and seeing them move forward like O'Hara does and maybe using Short as the backup CB. I'm glad Ellis has experimented because it has brought in a lot of amazing players. Just get rid of Purce, Long and Kreiger and add Lavelle, Heath and Sullivan and we got ourselves a WWC Championship team.
Come on guys cut them some slack, my Aussies are rampaging at the moment, but it won't always be that way. Don't trade anything for that World Cup, that final was just murder! my favorite game I think.
The US team is so dynamic and accurate. These new faces have brought a continuation to the skill that we already possess. The men are doing better, but I want to see this level of skill and humility.
Rapinoe is superb all time player for the World .. She has done so much for the win .. But USWNT should have more organized and better plan for future games please.. Very simple and lots of miscues still there. Good luck USWNT ..

Add Tobin and Lavelle and get rid of Krieger and Purce and you got yourself a nasty all around team. So many options... Ohai, Hatch and Smith could be a late surprise if Leroux doesnt work her ass off for the next two years. I put Hatch ahead of Ohai. Hatch is faster, hungrier and equally a good finisher, Ohai has issues putting up a strong 90 minutes of play. Sullivan is coming back from a torn ACL, thus the reason for not including her. Not sure if she can be effective as she was but tremendous talent, a 21yr old holding mid with skills who can lob and drop pinpoint passes over a defender's head. Without Long, Mewis, Horan, the USWNT is more quick and dangerous team but it has no height and will be vulnerable on set pieces. FYI, the team needs to find two new CBs, hopefully faster than Sauerbrunn.

The difference in size, speed and athleticism between Japan and the US is becoming more and more obvious over time. It almost looks like the women's team is playing a high school team sometimes.
Australia was on a murder. They also weren't fiddling around with their roster really at all. I don't think samantha kerr will ever have a goal scoring run quite like this one again however.
Japan's finishing is positively atrocious. It's almost worse than their defending; when alex morgan scored on the low driven cross, the ball rolled right past a japanese defender who didn't even attempt to stick a foot out.
By stats I think USWNT is better when facing their competition. MNT is worse facing their competition. As USWNT is 1 women's team, but MNT is not near the top. But the men have tougher competition as there are more super crazy-good mens players. Not saying women are bad. There are less womens teams better than US but plently more mens teams better than the mnt.
The goal keeper should be retired. She is so slow, can't guess which direction the ball should fly to. Her reaction is often wrong. Brasil should have more goals against US
