Great video, my R33 is getting the Haltech 2500 elite and R35 coils with HKS 2530’s. My car hasn’t been tuned since I’ve owned it till now. But mine was pushing 1 bar reliably on the Nismo turbos with my N1 engine. I suspect the tune will really change things. But my power curve was so linear, it was very nice. I just found this video in my feed, you got a new subscriber ✌️ ⭕️⭕️🐌🐌💨⭕️⭕️🫶🔥👀
You can just adjust the timing offset in the Haltech to get the timing correct 😉. No need to move the CAS. Also, you should throw that CAS in the bin and get a NZ wiring trigger kit or PRP trigger kit.
Yea, something about offset is an ick for the formal mechanic in me… but your right the stock trigger isn’t great, but it’s there and it should be right so that’s the route I went. But it would have been easier to just let the Haltech offset it.
@@FluidMotorUnion setting a trigger offset is a normal thing with any ECU. Shoot, factory computers have trigger offsets in them. This has nothing to do with being a "formal mechanic". I can guaranty that there was a number other than zero already in the trigger offset anyways.
I put my CAS in the trash. Was so picky by the time you adjust it and tighten the screws it would have changed the timing. Went with a PRP trigger kit and its perfect
That exasperation with the DD Dyno reading low is a trip. I had guys freaking out telling me it was broken, or wrong. I recall one Dyno day I had a guy who had a small truck he thought was going to make 300whp ended up under 200 and he was at a loss for words. Guys wanted to add up every mod together and came up with ridiculous figures in their heads. Back when FF 1 just came out. It was a trip.
Everybody is talking about the CAS, and the thing works until it doesn’t and it works well already. You’ll know when it doesn’t work. I replaced mine trying to find an issue that caused misfires, and it turned out to be my TPS voltage being wacky at 0% throttle idle.
I spent many years Dyno tuning and building turbo systems. Brings back some memories. Especially the Dyno dynamics. I loved that Dyno. I ran the analog version thousands of times starting back in 2003. Back when labor was $80hr and Dyno turns were $125hr.
Great video. I was very close to pulling the trigger on an R33 GTST, but got a 135i instead. What stopped me was ultimately the right hand drive of Skylines. I didn't want to deal with the inconvenience. I wanted a more practical car, the BMW with the N54 engine & 6spd was it. Very happy with this car, but I'm very interested seeing owners do their builds and enjoy another great manual turbo inline 6, especially one as sleek as the R33. Hope this owner goes over the moon with his re-tuned car.
Finally the channel is 'rotating' toward a well earned liftoff :) 100k should be near, 1 million within 2 years should be possible with some youtube collaborations.
I found out totally by mistake that with a COP car you can literally just press the magnetic pickup against the ignition coil to get a signal. Before that i was running a section of spark plug wire between the coil and plug, but it seemed to work pretty well just touching the pickup to the ignition coil. Worked on my Z32 at least.
Moving the CAS instead of taking 3 seconds to change the offset is wild. Tipping in wide open throttle at 14.2 AFR will knock the ringlands off the pistons in no time. 12.8-13.0 pre boost, 11.8-12.0 on boost will be its happy place. Hopefully owner fits a decent turbo setup and gets a bit more serious with the car. Should be a cool thing.
There’s no boost there, it’s transitioning into spool so your seeing it come from lambda to rich, which is completely normal on a road car, not full performance setup. Some tuners will flatline the AFR but it’s wasteful because before peak torque or boost the chance of detonation is low, so you’re just using gas you don’t need.
@@FluidMotorUnion being in and out of boost has nothing to do with it...having load on the engine is what matters. If it gets floored, it shouldn't be in the 14s for AFR. High load at low rpms is VERY susceptible to detonation. Again, you're confusing load and boost. I recommend taking some training courses or at least spending a bunch of time tuning your own cars on a stand alone before putting a customer car on the line with your knowledge seemingly to only be about half there for tuning.
@@RvolvoR spot on, 14 afr at high load at low rpm is instant death for that motor. Needs to be 13.0 at the leanest off boost on throttle. However 12.5 will help produce exhaust to bring it onto boost. Definitely needs to leave tuning to somebody that knows what their doing for now until they’re much more capable on knowledgeable on the topic, RB26’s are not a cheap engine, and not a forgiving engine. Definitely not for the amateur tuner with no idea what an AFR should be. Sincerely - somebody with a sequential 26/30 R33 GTR that doesn’t want to see one blown up.
O, come on, OJ , anything less than 20psi is just an economy tune 😅.. lol, jk😜 .. beautiful machine .. peace and love brotha, keep it rad, stay safe, and build on..l8r brotha and keep having fun

Come on YT…… I just punched the 402nd like….REALLY? Sorry OJ, I’m doing what I can…….. Super interested, because I have a 77 280Z with a ‘stock-ish’ R25 swap. You are giving me knowledge into my starting point. My car is currently at 22 psi- WAY TOO much….. Changes to make it way more useable are in work… finding a tuner/shop like yours is a giant struggle. I appreciate this channel, more than most. You can count on my like in perpetuity……
I'm super confused about why this channel doesn't get more views. I've seen other youtubers who don't have nearly the knowledge that this guy does, and they get insane views. Super weird
I appreciate the kind words. I’m told you gotta grind for a while… whatever that means! So we’re just going to keep filming stuff we are actually doing at the shop and explaining it in a way that hopefully has people learn something.
Unpopular opinion: R32/R33 is overrated. I've always been more of a fan of the STI and EVO back then, never really cared much for the Skyline... Despite never actually owning an STI or EVO and always having a Nissan of some sort at the time. lol
Tbh I thought the same about the skyline R32-R34 until I learned about it history. That's when I finally realized how much of a badass car it was. It took toyota close to 10 years to finally beat them! 4 years of the all mighty mk4 supra losing to the R32-R33. The nick name "Godzilla" is well deserved
Overrated huh? Look at their HISTORY, and I mean from the very beginning to actually see they are not overrated, but with your opinion I doubt you will
@@dawicked2k8Sure, in racing form, they're beasts. I loved watching the old hill climbs from back in the day. Street form though? Nope, they're pretty meh. I'd rather have an Evo 3. Again, it's my *unpopular* opinion, you don't have to like it.
Ive always wanted an evo 8 or 9 but could never afford one. Now I can but I would never buy a used one, I want one straight off the transport truck not even touched by the sales people.
my car made 610awhp bone stock unopened on mines ecu, apexi turbos, hks intake and basic parts. i built it to 1000hp and its still slow because the 5 speed is trash.
