Thank you so much ! I've just bought an old 257 and the belt under the machine was out. I put it around the gears but now, the needle doesn't go down nicely : I think my machine needs to be timed but how can I do that ? (Sorry for my english, I'm French). Thank you and have a good day.
a good day that the needle will not work is up to a small circle on the coil of thread, and on the needle itself there are two lines by which the needle is fastened. There is a screw on the edge of the machine, a big greeting

My mother's machine just went through this. Not sure if it's the same gear as is wrong with yours. I found a replacement gear on Ebay. It was actually cheaper to buy one that included the shaft that runs down through the body of the machine. Part number 445491. Hope this helps.

Sir my tension top screw is not fixing can you help how to fix it? How to fix tension? What is the use of top left kind of wheel in which darn is also written . Zig zag is not coming?
Respectfully, the thread tensioner regulates the lower tension, and the gripper the upper part of the material. As for the zig zag move the lever B and the machine will work. It is a great machine and the only one in its class that has an iron gear on the central shaft.

pozzz should change the ribbed button and check that the grapple is not blocked
Can you explain more about this machine.
Can you please tell me why all of a sudden the bobbin catcher doesn't spin n so it won't catch the other thread.
you should check the star on the ribbed button or the gears under the grapple that they did not burst a big salute
