@@VitalGlory I live rural. Any posted 80 everyone's doing at least 120 same with the highways 100 turns to 140 real quick. 165ish in the fast lane isn't unheard of when you've only got one or two lanes to move traffic. The posted limits are blanket laws for the congested cities that deal with traffic. 167 is definitely fast but not a big deal as long as conditions allow on a straight road.
@@anca2348 I played junior way up north and I 100% agree that posted speed limits aren't "real" limits, but even on highways where its 100, 140 should be the max. But especially in this video with that traffic levels, dude was flying.
I moved out of ONT 8 years ago and had to go back for family business. EVERYONE driving on a 400 series highway over the past 20+ years drives at LEAST 120 KPH in a posted 100 KPH zone. In most cases it avg 130-140 KPH.
Idk what highways ur on but im always seeing people sittin in the middle lane going 90 and screwing up the flow of traffic. Then theres that 1 guy going max 100 in the left lane and they dont give 2 shits to gtfo the way.
Same with Alberta. Nobody drives 110. Speed limit is 110 that means the limit is 120, most cars go 130. Even all cops go over 110. The fastest I have gone is 210
@@DaTT78 Then people would do 140 as the norm while the speeders are doing 180-200kmh like they're entitled, to do. Look here, a guy is doing nearly 70kmh OVER posted speed. My car can definitely do 170KMH and not feel out of place. The only bad thing is the gas gauge would go down fast.
That's why North American speed limits outside major centers should be posted at 80-90 mph on Interstate grade freeways. Use cameras to nail those who are too fast AND those that are not moving out of the passing lanes.
Love this. Thanks OPP! Amazing use of our resources. It's starting to feel like you care more about our safety and not about our money. Always drive according to the conditions. I've been noticing lately that I only see OPP on the highways when the conditions are poor. 167kmh on a wet roads will lead to an accidents. When the roads are dry, they leave people alone. Those cars are all doing about the same speed. If one car was going 167 kph, you'd see one car moving at lightning speed and everyone else moving much more slowly. That's why a driver should appeal these faulty machines. The officers machine is stuck on 167 kph.
Cops have every right to chase someone at any speed and yeah it comes with a risk. What if someone is speeding after smashing one of your family member, will you ask the cops to obey speed limits?
The only reason why he doesn’t pull out with lights and siren. Due to the potentially of having a car slam on their breaks to stop for the officer and causing an accident. It’s a safety measure to consider. Please use critical thinking before making comments like you made.

@@thunderbirdizations I literally believe that speed limits should be increased, especially in the suburbs and rural areas of Canada. Imagine traveling from Toronto to Windsor at 100km. Literally no traffic happens in those roads and having a no speed limit road or a faster speed limit will decrease travel times greatly. What baffles me is how Canada being one of the most biggest countries in the world doesn't have a proper freeway with highspeeds. It's ironic how in Europe or especially Germany they have an Autobahn with no speed limit. Why can't the 407 have no speed limit? It would be worth paying a hefty toll to travel fast compared to other highways. At least make the 407 speed limit 200kph instead of 100. Also the notion that increasing speed limits will increase risk of collisions is a myth. In fact like you said, its because of slower drivers or drivers with impaired ability that cause it. It's not the car that causes collisions but us.
@@hightiernub1313 mostly agreed, we won’t see 200kmh in a snow-zone though. Higher speeds cause less accidents, but severity significantly increases. For me, in a high-density area, traffic’s caused by dumbasses either driving too slow in the wrong lanes, or drivers swerving through traffic, b/c they think they’re racers, and they end up causing mayhem infront & behind them
@thunderbirdizations In the Autobahn they have speed restricted zones so in Canada for example they can use those digital signs to impose a speed limit during snow seasons.
@@hightiernub1313 makes sense but Canadian weather is volatile; might be sunny in the morning, and a blizzard might hit by lunch. If you get into an accident in a blizzard because you lost control at 200kmh, who owns the accountability? The driver, the car manufacturer (therefore limiting car imports and increasing tariffs), municipal gov’ts for not updating speed restrictions in time (to do so would require more rss and taxes)? One big benefit to your point though, construction plays a major role in traffic. We don’t see construction in adverse weather and therefore there is less traffic even at lower speeds
Speed limits were lowered from 110 to 100 in 1976 as a way to conserve fuel during a shortage. It wasnt set at that speed for safety. And cars are exponentially more capable than they used to be.
Catching speeders is all part of traffic police, but in Ottawa, part of police work for the lowest of the low is fabricating evidence , retaliation, illegal arrests, and throwing complainants of police criminality in jail. Speeding tickets on divided highways are nothing more than a money racket. North America is obsessed with speed limits. Germany seems to get on just fine. 160 km/h in a modern car is fine. The summer b4 covid I drove an F150 with cargo trailer behind from Alberta to Toronto. An hour or so outside Toronto signs said to slow down to 80kph b/c of construction. I went 140kph thru that 80kph zone, and was getting horns from everyone else as they passed me on both sides doing about 160kph(+). They were even passing a cop going back and forth across the lanes with his cherries flashing as he tried to slow traffic. The cop gave up and pulled over, 8 lanes of traffic going the same direction at 160kph(+) is too much for one cop to deal with... they definitely drive a lot faster in Ont than Ab, but they also let others into their lane when they see a signal light. In Ab, a signal light makes everyone close any gaps, keeping others from changing lanes...
I am trying to figure out how everyone is traveling the same speed and i cant find not one vehicle passing any of those vehicle. Or this like a cash cow thing now ? It like ,oh,there's one and i picked one out of 20. vehicle .
Moronic response. So if you’re in of help, are you going bitch about why they got to you so slow? Plus they have offensive and defensive training to be legally allowed to drive at those speeds.
@@LULU_XCIV I’m not “bitching” about their response time to an accident, injury or serious crime that’s taking place. But I am bitching about the fact that these so called “trained” drivers will literally put innocent people in danger traveling high rates of speed to catch someone moving at a less dangerous speed…just to give them a TICKET for doing the same damn thing. If they’re chasing down a murder or responding to something serious, by all means, floor it.. But to just hand out a hypocritical ticket is wreck less and could cause far more harm if something happens in a matter of milliseconds. Also, your argument that they’re “trained” is absurd. The training law enforcement gets for these scenarios is very sub par and most forget all of it when they’re adrenaline gets going and that blue light/siren hard-on happens. Before you argue I don’t know what I’m talking about, I have several close family members and friends that have had this so-called “driver training”. I’ve also witnessed the program personally. How can I judge the training? I may or may not have also went through the instruction part personally. I also could be a highly experienced driver myself 🤷🏼♂️ Hell, I may even have multiple licenses from different road & drag racing associations 🤷🏼♂️ or I may not.. Either way, if I did happen to have far better experience driving than any law enforcement, would that also be a license for me drive at high rates of speed to tell someone else to slow down? Please explain how their few hours of seat time dodging cones (where most fail) at low speed qualifies them to travel at excessive speed for anything less than an urgent emergency? Before you respond be sure to look up exactly what their specific training entails, because high speed driving in traffic is not part of their curriculum. But again, if I were to MAYBE have logged hundreds or thousands of hours behind the wheel of a car at speeds over 120-150 mph, in heavy traffic, on actual road courses, plus years of driver training…please also explain why I can’t do so as well? I’ll wait.
Skill issues... Anyways, that's why they have lights and sirens, and communication with other officers within the area. As a regular driver its your duty to pay attention to your mirrors and surroundings. The speeder still has a higher potential of causing a crash without any indicators, compared to a vehicle with flashing lights, sirens, and a horn. The same concept when an ambulance has to drive down the highway for an emergency. The fact you didn't include those factors in, makes me judge the authenticity of your story. Also using MPH has your speed reference tells me you're American. So why are you replying to a Canadian news about a Canadian police force? Plus 150 mph is 241 Kmh, and 120 mph is 193.12 kmh. At the end of the day the guy is committing a crime. Which at that speed is considered stunt driving, that leads to impounding of the car, and a revoked license. At that speed, a regular civilian has a higher chance of causing a fatality compared to a trained driver. if you cant drive like that from your racing days, sounds like a skill issues. @@themetalfusionologist

Yup just police stealing money from people. I see cop cars speeding all the time without their emergency lights on with no one to stop and give them tickets.
Thank you officers for keeping us safe from others and from ourselves. I was charged with stunt driving and lost my license for 30 days, car was impounded for 14 days and fines and lawyers fees and impound fee. It really sucked but I would shake hands and thank the officer that pulled me over. The reason is that he likely saved my life and anyone else’s that may have been in the car when I inevitably would have crashed. Not long later a friend of mine from high school died in a car crash and I really woke up and smelled the coffee. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ that I was pulled over. I don’t speed anymore and I have no interest in doing so anymore. God bless the good hearted police officers❤️
If only they drove around and ticketed drivers driving in the overtaking lane causing traffic, cars not signalling while changing lanes after not checking their mirrors and people using their phones or doing other activities while driving they wouldn’t need to worry about speeding. Speeding in itself is not dangerous if all drivers are better educated, stopped taking chances while driving, not driving scared and following the agreed upon rules of the road. The licensing system is ridiculous in Ontario. Majority of drivers would not get a license in some other countries that have more in-depth driver training and stricter licensing programs that take non-drivers to fully licensed and educated driver in less time than it takes to get your G2 in Ontario. Do some real work OPP in making the roads safer. Your officers will get less hemorrhoids.

Speed limits should be increased.
No need.
Ticket the slow cars and you’ll see an average 20km increase in traffic

I also could be a highly experienced driver myself 🤷🏼♂️
Hell, I may even have multiple licenses from different road & drag racing associations 🤷🏼♂️ or I may not..
