A fantastic and, dare I say, vociferous post-mortem. I finally watched The Twilight Zone movie on the weekend. Apart from John Lithgow at his manic best, and the beginning bit between Brooks and Ackroyd, it's patchy at best!
Hey guys, this podcast is excellent, thank you for creating it! this is the first of your videos I've encountered, I'm going to go see the rest of them! :) Please keep up the great work!
hmm. why they laughing all the time, the death of vic morrow was sick thing, he lost his head, and this dudes laughing. John Landis WAS a brilliant director, but also hugely VERY DANGEROUS director, you`ll may cost your life away, if you wanted be business with him in the movie, John belushi sayed one time during the blues blues brothers about Landis" HE IS A GREAT DIRECTOR, BUT ALSO CRAZY ANIMAL"
There was a podcast I heard last year that resulted in them saying Landis wasn't to blame but Spielberg was, and im like "how tf did you come to that conclusion?!"
Twilight Zone the Movie if it were Miracle Mile would be completely different. If only Vic and the two kids hadn't died or Landis and Spielberg getting involved.
Yeah. There were a lot of fateful things that changed the course of this movie production. Besides Miracle Mile, the executives at Warner Bros gave John Landis notes to add that "heroic" scene at the end.
Steven Spielberg was never involved with the filming of John Landis' infamous segment. He originally was to do his own original segment which was to be about a bully who gets some "Twilight Zone" karma on Halloween, but due to budgetary reasons, Spielberg & writer Richard Matheson decided that his segment would be a remake of the classic episode: "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street". But after he heard what happened to Morrow & the kids, Spielberg wanted to remove himself from the production, but he was convinced to stay and he replaced his "Maple Street" remake with the more family-friendly remake of "Kick the Can", which he filmed last after Joe Dante & George Miller were finished with their segments.
There's another new book about the tragedy called FLY BY NIGHT: THE SECRET STORY OF STEVEN SPIELBERG, WARNER BROS., AND THE TWILIGHT ZONE DEATHS by Steven Chain. Includes horrific photos of the bodies.
Great job, all! I do have question. Around 11:05, there’s a comment about Escape from New York being shot at the same time across the way from The Twilight Zone, but Escape from New York was released in 1981. Is this an error from the Wingo book or one of the other texts you reference? Does anyone happen to know what (if anything) was filming across the way? Thanks again for your great, very informative coverage of this incident!
There was nothing filming across the way. No idea where this Escape from New York nonsense came from. This was the only production filming at the site at that time (it’s right across from Interstate 126 in Valencia, CA)
John Landis makes me sick.

Thanks so much for watching/listening!! Hope you stick around 🙌🏻🙌🏻
A worthy follow-up to the original excellent podcast! :)
Thank you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
A shredded child?!? Does anyone personally hold these psychopaths accountable?
It's a comment in extremely poor taste considering his history with the Twilight Zone accident.

By the way, the guy that discovered Vic's body is the assistant director. He goes by Allan Smithee in the credits.
Real name : Anderson House

From what I understand 'Escape From New York' was filmed on location in St. Louis and on sets in LA.
Taint Funny McGee!😢
Why are you guys laughing so much when speaking about three people that died a tragic death??? Seriously, what is so funny about this situation???
