My husband and I have immigrated from the USA, we both work in healthcare at mid level, I’m a speech therapist and my husband is ultrasound technician. We are working like crazy, not much work life balance, we thought it would be better. NZ health systems are not connected, so Auckland hospital does not connect with Wellington hospitals, computer systems are messy, and Human Resources lost my paperwork twice! So maybe think very hard about coming to NZ

      Hi,
Question - Is lack work-life balance because of working more for more $$?

Why is living/moving to NZ such a popular "thing" these days? It's so very far away and the cultural adjustments seem significant. So what is the lure? This is a serious question because housing seems impossible to afford and food, clothes, etc seem more limited and expensive. It can't just be free healthcare or the lovely views. This is an earnest and serious question. Like your channel!

I think 2-6 months time line is unrealistic. I used to lived in NZ in my early 20s for three years and now I live in the U.S working as a registered nurse. I am trying to get my license registered in NZ just because I would like to have options in the future. Anyways, it took me about 2 months for CGFNS to verify my documents which was not too bad. As soon as CGFNS verified my documents, they sent it to Nz nursing council and I started my application process. It took the council 9 months to review my application (there was no other issues. It just took them that long to get to my application) and now I need to find a job and start my visa application which I assume will take several months as well. If you are planning to work in NZ or move to NZ, give yourself more time than 6 months. The council says it takes about 5 months for them to review your application and I have seen some people get theirs reviewed quicker than 5 months. But it definitely takes more than 6 months from the start to finish the whole process.

I think people are sold a myth that NZ is some left wing paradise, But kiwis have a unique british settler culture. Just because you do not like Trump does not mean you will adjust to life here.

Thanks for sharing all that helpful info. I'm still stuck on your accent, it sounds like you've lived in A'stralia, considering you've been in En-Zed (NZ) all this time.

Kiwi is a term for someone born in NZ, because a Kiwi is a flightless native NZ bird and always has been...one doesn't 'become kiwi' from living in NZ or even getting residency etc...

No it's not. Kiwi is not a nationality or ethnicity. It has nothing to do with citizenship or where someone was born and everything to do with how someone thinks and behaves culturally. Your nativist bigotry, for example, is very un-Kiwi regardless of how long you might have lived in NZ, whereas someone who's only lived in the country for only a year could nevertheless be more of a Kiwi than myself who's born and raised here for over three decades. It all comes down to the attitude and mindset of a person and how that leads them to interact with others, whether they embody the "Kiwi spirit" that connects and enjoins all of us who call these little islands our home. 🇳🇿

What? Of course someone can become “Kiwi”. Plenty of people who emigrate and put down roots, love this country become citizens etc, and see themselves as Kiwis and are accepted as kiwis. It’s not just where you’re born, but your attitude to the country. Same applies to most countries with their immigrants.

@@michaelheliotis5279 YES IT IS...your 'woke' 'globalist' 'hugs solve everything' bs is whats wrong with our once thriving, once affordable, once safe country
The truth offends but its still the truth, so too bad stop trying to 'redefine' terms that are already defined
stop spouting nonsensical drivel...you sound like a typical ardern voter../.

I live in NZ and I am from India. From my observation, back in the days "kiwi" meaning the white people of NZ. A Maori rarely identifies themselves as a Kiwi. Nowadays children of migrants also started identifying as a kiwi.

Im a New Zealander. Unfortunately this country is not what it used to be 20 years ago.
This used to be the place that had a great work/life balance and a place to raise a family.
Very bad economy right now, low wages, very high cost of living.
Alot of Kiwis are moving overseas to Australia and abroad.
New Zealand is still marketing the country as it was 20 years ago, and foreigners dont know any better.
Don't make the mistake folks, take your families elsewhere.
