Adele Matuza, a fellow-Lithuanian immigrant in south Omaha, made weekly visits here to get her native food. She taught me to appreciate the robust flavors and the friendliness of this establishment. Carry on!
They had a great Lithuanian bakery in Brockton MA, but they closed about 14 years ago. It was a shame, they sold well. They even sold it in more upscale Euro delis. I would tell people, the closest they can find now is Polish, since they have a larger ethnic population
I remember very well there was Kilkus Bakery, Montello Bakery, Zinkevich Market, and maybe others. Those black loaves of Lithuanian rye were out of this world!
Yes, although we were told by the Elizabeth Lithuanians that one is no longer Lithuanian-owned. It retains its name though, I am not sure about its menu. May visit it later.
I am a Sakalauskas. This bakery has been a staple in my family my whole life. It is not Thanksgiving or any holiday unless we get the Lithuanian Rye
Love this bakery, been part of my family's favorite probably since they opened.
Ahhh my family ❤️
Great interview Al! Love to see Danny, Joe, Hannah, and was that Sandy???

And they are great! My hometown and they ship. My son grew up teething on the heel of black bread and still loves it to this day!
