An idea that may help your process. Instead of flipping the trays onto the pan set the trays on a board or flat object that fits within the pan walls then set the pan on top of the trays and flip it all over at once. Then you can just pull your trays off of the flipped bullets. I hope that makes sense.
Saving money on reloading by using what you already have laying around the house I like it with so many shortages going around over the last few years always a good idea for everyone to know of ways to improvise in a pinch with what you have… even if it isn’t your preferred method.
Neat idea on the bullet trays flipping them for the pan, I used to set them in teflon baking trays by hand, that looks a lot easier and faster. I've lubed and loaded a lot like that until I got a star sizer. Still do the occasional round like that if I haven't gotten a size die for, mainly on designs I'm trying out and haven't decided if I want to spend the extra money on a size die yet. You should also check out the Lee alox 45/45/10, it works pretty well, but since I've got a start I'm sticking with Ben's Red lube for now. Anyway, good video, wish I'd seen it like 10 years ago.
Ive always lubed my bullets at the same time I size them (swedge) by running them through my Lyman swedger. I've been making cast bullets since the early 70's for both rifle and pistol shooting and black powder
Good vid dude. I used to do the same thing, You will find that a Lube size Machine will have a tendency to swadge more on one side of the bullet than the other, The Lee sizing die centers the bullet because it enters the die nose first and self-adjusts to the center , good video dude.
Hey Thor, I just got my first RCBS lubrisizer few weeks ago. At first I didn't notice that it was swagging/resizing one one side and when I noticed I though that it must be defective at same time I ordered Lyman sizing die in same caliber (.309) and even though it was used and didn't have 4 rows of holes it sized evenly as far as I can see. But you were right the ones I used to size with Lee sizer came out perfectly even and this caught me off-guard and surprised me, I was about to return and exchange the whole lubrisizer.
Here I am thinking how to do this and Bang, there you are, and to top it off I have a full tote of Old Candle stumps I saved from the office. I already have the Lee sizer kit and the Lyman 230 grain Semi Wad Cutter I cast last night, perfect. I use the tumble lube bullets as a rule but just acquired a few "Rescue" Lyman mold blocks and so the need for filling the lube groove, have a great day!! Mike from Wisconsin
thank you mike for stopping by my channel and getting a few tips from my video, happy loading and shooting and i do believe that are gun rights are gonna be okay for now, i know mr. trump will make good on his word and make america great again.
I find the best way to pan lube is coat pan with lithium greese before putting in lube, when cool the whole lot will just tip out ,also after placing bullets in pan heat bullets up with hair dryer. this helps lube to stick better to bullets, as you are not putting lube onto cold bullets. Good video thanks from the uk.
I like the lee system but I have used the gasket (wax) ring that you buy to go under a new toilet. You buy that from any hard ware store. I like to add a few drops of food coloring to color code my wax. The transmission line commonly is red. Wearing nitrile gloves is good
I spied a nice stack of lead!! I'm wanting to start casting some and finding free lead is going to be key to making it all worthwhile. It all becomes quite the hobby doesn't it :) Good videos
thanks joe, we dont know what the future as gun owner reloading enthusiast will be..get what you can and keep it in your secret spot, we may need to call on this resouce if hillary gets into office. thanks for viewing.
If Hillary gets into office I honestly don't think it could happen because she was elected ! I've really lost faith in politicians and how dishonest the news and media have become. They're advancing a global agenda much faster than I ever thought it could happen. Spooky times no doubt!
thank you john sorry for the late reply i do believe utube is interfering with my notifications so i dont get them like im supposed to. i have quite a few more new video's you would like.
Hi friend and enjoyed your video. I'd like to give you a tip. Instead of using the plastic wrap to line your trays you might be better served using non-stick aluminum foil. That's what I use when I powder coat my bullets.
I dont use plastic wrap any more i use was paper or parchment paper, the wax mold comes out perfect i have several videos on this as well, thanks4 watching and a very good comment.
English not being my native language, is candle wax the same thing that is in everyday candles like white stick candles and those small round tealights or does it require a special type of candle like bees wax candles etc? It's a bit confusing since in Swedish, wax candles refer to the ones being made from bees wax which are expensive, while the regular white or scented candles are called stearin candles.
yes everyday candle wax, thats why you add vaseline and transmission fluid together to soften the wax, bee's wax is better for black powder loads for lower velocitys to soften the burnt black powder to easily clean out the barrel.
I tried it and it was the worst recipe Because of the trans fluid Does not mix and just squirts Out everywhere after it dries is no good... Use any kind of fat with candle wax works better after it’s cooled and dried . Start with a 50/50 mix and adjust from there
Not a bad system. Only difference I would have would use a dowel rod to push them through so you do not mar the base like the screwdriver could and also use a softer surface to punch them into (1/4 to 1/2 inch rubber mat? That way you do not mar the nose.
i do this for my 43 mauser , my recipe is simply a 30 ounce can of old baking grease and a couple strawberry scented candles. when i shoot it i smell a straw berriesh smell
sorry for the late reply bruno its utube playing games with our notifications. vasoline is too thin and would interfere with the powder charge and the wax keeps it more solid.
For jacketed 45 acp 451 for lead its 452 now for long colt 454 even as fat as 457 due to wide cylinder throats like the ruger single actions in 45 long colt.
Have your wife save those black ,oven safe pans that frozen meals come in. They are flexible and temperature safe making the need for shrink wrap unnecessary.
Why dump them before you wax them Why not just pour the wax into the boxes you had the bullet in Its not hot enough to melt anything If it was the plastic wrap would melt
Thank you for your comment this video is 7 years old and my lube procedure has changed since then, I do have more videos on this subject including powder coating, not all revolvers like lubes bullets I've had lube get caught in the cylinder crane binding up the the cylinder like a black powder revolver and powder coating remedied that issue.
Why is the name of you're channel you're name and you introduce you're channel as Cast bullets for life ? I like the Cast bullets for life kind of a catchy name, Ok so I am trying this right now have the lube melted and the pan ready I will let you know how ot works

This is ingenius. Beats the hell out of an RCBS lubrisizer and sticky wet soft lube.

I would rather powder coat. Used all kinds of wax and bullets still leave lead in the barrel.
I'd guess your bullets are too small in diameter
