Filipinos are solid fan base. They will remain loyal and supportive all the way. Up and down, left and right and in and out.

I really like this reactor unlike others, he put efforts to understand the message of the song, cause some international Reactors they exaggerate their reaction without the effort to go beyond the message just to gain views, that's totally turned off. Not real reactors.

It's always a breath of fresh air when reactors realize and decipher the meaning of the song they are reacting to. Just like SB19 as a group, has always been a breath of fresh air in the music industry (in the Philippines) breaking the usual norms in music. The switch-up of different beats and genre is just crazy but crazy good. Dude, in your analysis of the lyrics, you have it in the bag. You are correct when you said that 20-20 refers to the vision. There are a lot of people who have clear visions but somehow are blinded by the truth. They deny themselves of the truth (hence, "basag ang lente" means "broken lenses") probably because of influence or blind faith. Contextually, raising and waving your flag can only mean fighting for one's own beliefs and ideals. That, no matter how hard it can get, you just have to keep on pushing and believing to overcome all the "bullets" being fired at you. Pablo, as the lyricist, and leader of SB19 is doing a great job for his group. I'm mighty proud of this guy. Kudos SB19! Kudos! 💙

Yes that's the right word Journey because it is the story of #SB19's Journey towards making their Dream for their music to be known anywhere else in the world. Well, while making waves along the way they are going through bumpy roads in achieving it but they remained resilienced in order to see that Goals to happen and we A'TINS their supporters will be here to push them forward 🎶 yes.. yes..yes a million times 🙏💙💙💙

"The whole video tells their story from scratch to what they are now and what they can still do in the future. In the first part, they told us their story when they were bashed, discriminated and put down. Saddest part was when even the Filipinos did step down on them. They were even judged that they sound Kpop and there will never be a Ppop. They were in the news but didnt stop. They used those negativities around to pull positivities and courage to go ahead! I think Justin (space guy) is a dreamer. Looking at the Earth but blindfolded. Stell (the cowboy) hold some seeds trying to tell us to dig and dig, plant something and in the future, there will be plenty of fruits. Ken is like a king in a throne made of junk. He said in the lyrics that he picked up and collected all the trash, and that lifted him up but he keeps telling us that even he has the power now, our feet should always be on the ground. Josh ( the elevator guy) in real life didnt have an education degree. But on his part he said we are all different but sometimes, those so-called educated people are the worse. And he wont pretend. He started taking off those fancy clothes because that will never define him and what he can do. Then the dreamer Justin finally took out the blindfold. Now he is ready to turn those dreams to reality. Seeds from Stell's hand grew. From the scene when he was holding soil, raining and lightning like a storm, it changed into a clearer nature scene. Then there comes the part when they are in soldier costumes which has a resemblance of Generals during the old times in Philippines. An image of a general signifies courage, focus and determination. Those people they were trying to pass through are the bashers and those who didnt like them. But eventually, the same people became their fans and they celebrate together with SB19s music. Then it sounds like it became an anthem telling us that yes, Ppop is real. We have our own sound, our own music! Thats why Filipinos, let us all raise our flag! They represent our country but in a bigger picture, they used a flag with question mark which represents each of us to show us that everybody has his/her own flag to raise. The music video shows what hope, courage, determination and God above can do! 🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤ "
    - Jerickson Bacay
"A lot of people still doubts us, denouncing everything that we do and everything that we're trying to achieve. We love what we do, that's why we do it respectfully. 'What?' is about self-love and empowerment. Each of us has our own flag. We should be proud of it and raise it as much as we can. As SB19 and as individuals, we know that we're not the best at everything, but that shouldn't stop us from what we want to achieve."
    - John Paulo Nase/Pablo (The first guy who rap at the beginning of the song and The leader of SB19 who wrote and co-produced the song)

Black and red are the old flags used by our ancestors before having the flag we have right now 🇵🇭 if you will search for it in google black and red will appear...most of those have letter K in it, it was used when Filipinos fought during the spanish colonization... but actual flags were not used here instead they put ❓ on it to represent any nationality or anything that makes you proud of maybe your ownself or maybe your dreams in life, something like that... just like them they were bashed so much before people try to bring them down for being different from other Pinoy artists but SB19 overcome they go against the current and later on they proved those doubtful people wrong, SB19 is now supported by many (still not all but atleast they gained true supporters now... they got us)

Just like what i said to the previous reactor of this MV. The diamond shaped figure after they've stop dancing, symbolizes us people who went through alot of hardships. Forged to the hardest pressure in life and yet emerged as victorious in our own little way and shine.

Thank you for reacting. Your a keen observer and tried your best to understand the messages the boys are trying to convey. I believe the boys have successfully done what they set out to do.
Here is what I understand and have gathered so far from other interpreter. The different stories kinda represent each members battles if you get to know their background.
Rapper race track - running on a race but stop in the middle coz of the trash thrown to them by the media. He said he don’t care anymore coz he will still continue and he will get better. News paper levitate and thrown back
Newspaper flashes - headlines says that in dreams there is no beggar or in dreams nothing is difficult. The news tells about their story on how they started from small and are slowly getting popular and winning awards.
Guy w/ junkyard throne- whatever good or bad he have, as he elevate to the top he will stay true to himself and keep both feet on the ground.
Guy staring at the window - says its a mystery for him how all the close windows (opportunities) to them are now opening up
Farmer - despite all challenges he didn’t give up. All that is lost will come back tenfolds. Plant 🌱 (hard work) and something beautiful ( flower blooming) will come out of it. They stayed good, humble and continue to create good music and blessing start coming in.
Gray suit guy - 20/20 vision/ intelligent people who can see clearly choose to close their eyes to the truth or looking through broken lenses. Because of this the guy is drag inside the iron maiden. (Slowly torturing and killing his dreams)
Mad Max theme - together they stand and fight whatever’s battles they face in life and thanking Father (God) as their charm (strength)
People in white represent bashers/ nay sayers - as they went through against these people, they where push back, but they still soldier on and finally reach the top (scaffolding). Even on top people still shouting to finish them off or stop whatever they are doing but the boys started orchestrating with their music and eventually you will see, the people in white shirt started singing with them and they stand united.
Pablo (1st rapper) the song witter/ group leader - says the song is about self empowerment. As an individual raise your own flag as you face your own battles. Do good not violence and have God as your anchor.
It’s not just about raising the philippine flag, each one have their own flag. The flag they raise is black coloured w/ question mark. Asking WHAT flag are you raising. They do have philippine flag pinned in their beret at the end
There is also a word play in the word WHAT? / in tagalog wataWAT is flag soundalike What in english. This is asking what flag are you raising.
I think that sum it up. Others can chip in their interpretation or correct the interpretation.

You were wondering about the "only" English word "What?" and it was used as the Title of the song and as the interjection inbetween scenes in a purely Filipino lyrics. It was a clever play with words, from our Filipino word for flag, (watawat)... so you hear it as, "wo, wo, wo, wo, wata-WHAT".

This is beyond filipino pride actually.... This song is #SB19's respond to their bashers and haters (unfortunately most are filipinos)... even though how much trash they throw, they will not stop pursuing their dreams...they invoke God as their shield and protection.... and never be afraid to walk against the tide if you believe is right... raise high your personal flag....according to #SB19 leader Pablo it is about self-empowerment and self-love... thank you for reacting to #SB19... the creative director is the youngest member of the group Justin (22yr old)... the choreographer are all of them plus a friend... the song writer is Pablo their leader

I enjoyed watching your reaction from start to finish coz you were able to dissect the song in a way that hit close to the message it conveyed. The main theme is Love and Empowerment. Love for oneself, country ...and the ability to empower oneself to rise above all adversities because of that love. A lot of symbolisms in here such as (by order of their appearance)..PABLO (a.k.a. Sejun..the Leader and Songwriter)- torn clips of newspapers symbolizes the media; KEN (Main Dancer/Vocals)- Throne of Garbage represents one's garbage and baggage; JUSTIN (Creative Director/Subvocals)- The Cosmic Universe/World stands for 'opening your eyes to a world far from what you believe'; STELL (Choreographer/Vocals)- Field/Seeds/Nature..the message of hope; JOSH (Rapper/Subvocals)- The Iron Maiden..points to the 'molding of how you become coz of the hardships you have to face'. The Iron Maiden depicted here is a torture chamber used during the olden times. The song encourages us to stay above all the harsh criticisms, negativities, realities coz the truth is it depends on how we view these sad realities that we'll be able to overcome. Thank you so much for reacting. What❓ has an available Lyric Video as well. Looking forward to you reacting to that as well. Prepare to have your mind blown as it is not an ordinary LV. New sub here bro. 💙 (Sky blue is the color of the A'TIN fandom).

Thanks for reacting to SB19. Indeed, they are being dubbed by the fans and the local media here in PH as the Kings of Ppop since they made the Ppop genre even more popular in the Philippines and slowly worldwide and they trailblazed this new ppop sound. They are also the most popular filipino idol group and the most awarded since they debuted in 2018 and got viral last September 2019. We hope to see more SB19 reactions in youf channel. Thanks!

Thanks for the reaction! You’re catching SB19 at the right time, they’re upping their game in the second chapter of their career, coming from a more poppy sound to a very individual vibe.
What? Watawat! is a word game Filipinos play. At the end Pablo says “Sakalam!” which means “strong” but is actually the word backwards (malakas). We like making rhymes and turning words around and upside down.
You’re right about the red and blue (and white and yellow) of our flag but it’s illegal locally to use it in anything for commercial purposes.

Subbed. I enjoyed your reaction and thanks for trying to understand the song with just the subtitle, like you said a lot could get lost in translation. A lot of people thinks this is a nationalistic song, but it is not. "What" is actually a wordplay for WATAWAT (flag). And the flag is a ? which symbolizes our own search of individuality. Finding your true self can be a big question mark. Like the guy in the suit (josh) said we see things in different ways but there are those who would rather close their eyes and there are also those who pretend they have a 20/20 vision, who seem intelligent but with broken lens. This song is pure poetry. Its a commentary on how most people judge others based on their standards, without respecting the differences and uniqueness of each individual. It is also a celebration of expressing yourself and raising your own flag without fear from other people's opinions.

By the way, the broken lens in the eyeglass of the rapper formed the map of the Philippines.
The iron maiden represents how the hardship molded them, literally their trainer/teacher is a woman.. but the iron maiden also in the history is a torture chamber..
20/20 we all know is the perfect vision for the eyes however, people even with perfect vision and are intelligent are still blinded from seeing the truth because of their own agenda.. that's political man! You should see the lyric video..

They debuted 2018, their first song Tilaluha, a ballad song didn't sit well here in the Philippines. People would mocked them for calling them kpop wannabe's. That's sad. They actually went viral September 2019 after they uploaded their Dance Practice of their second single "Go Up". Filipinos thought the hype will just die down but they're actually going up from that day til now. They broke a lot of records here. They are hardworking and very discipline. The first guy in this video is their songwriter, the guy who sang the highest note is the choreographer. The one who had a blindfold is the creative director. Now Filipinos are slowly accepting them.

Dude, I like your reaction video! It's a good mentality to look for symbolisms in the song and video of SB19's MVs. That's about 75% of what makes SB19's MVs enjoyable--all the "puzzles". The puzzle piece you are missing to comprehend this song enough is the history of SB19 (and PPop in general). If you want to understand more, I know my comment will be a long one but please bear with it, and read it to the last sentence.
Actually, we fans don't really mind if people don't like what they see/hear. We respect that, but it is a DEFINITE requirement to at least TRY to digest the message that the group is trying to share before they decide to like it or not. Most of their songs--even their earlier ones are majorly composed of lyrics that really come from the depths of their hearts.
To understand this song in particular, you have to know how SB19 was before. You see, PPop used to be almost like a laughingstock in the entertainment industry. SB19 wasn't the first PPop group but before SB19 rose to stardom, PPop was never taken seriously.
The reason mostly is prejudice. Most people were not really sold to the idea of idols singing and dancing like KPop is known for. People immediately judge them saying either they were third-rate copycats or they just were not good enough (mostly visually). People didn't seriously consider them as idols because they had this visual standards that idols should look like KPop stars--you know, fair skin, slit-eyed, v-faced and feminine-ish, basically the Korean beauty standard which obviously is quite different from Filipino facial qualities.
Now SB19 took the brunt of this bashing mainly because they were kind of in the gray area. SB19's members are all Filipinos, but their company, ShowBT Ph, is actually founded by a Korean, and is a subsidiary of a Korean entertainment company. This company saw potential in the capabilities of Filipinos, not only talent-wise, but also our capability to understand and communicate in English--which makes it easier for globalization. So their company was SERIOUSLY training them the way KPop idols were trained and they kept promoting SB19, and that didn't sit well with the trolls and PPop haters.
Now ShowBT Ph is just a new company and quite frankly, it is a very small company compared to the big labels here in the Philippines, companies that by the way remained stagnant for almost 50 years (you only need to watch a couple of Ph TV shows to know how BADLY stagnant it has been). Being a new company in a foreign country, they were also learning the ropes and hardly had any proper means to execute their business properly, so it was kind of difficult to promote SB19 effectively and fend off attacks from bashers.
To clarify, the reason why SB19 was attacked was people also mistook their intentions. People thought they were just Filipinos trying to get into the KPop scene (and marketing themselves in Korea along with other KPop groups), but they are not. SB19 was trying to be a PPop group, then again PPop had bad rep in terms of promotion. In fact, most people don't know this but early fans know that SB19 had a KPop group counterpart called "BNF" which disbanded.
It was so bad that when SB19 debuted, their first song (called "Tilaluha") was literally snubbed. The media didn't even take notice. Bashers seemed to be provoked (like "Lol, how dare they. Time to put them in their place," kind of thing). So SB19 received more unwelcome comments from people who did not even BOTHER TO LISTEN to their debut single--which by the way is a very wonderful song that is VERY TYPICAL of Filipino ballads. But the company trained the boys well, and they boys had a set of values that work well with the trademark resilience of Filipinos.
Despite that, it's very difficult to live in the Philippines. There is a reason why we are resilient--we face many far too many challenges just to even live quietly, so we have to adapt by being resilient and practical. Being a trainee and not earning much for over 4 years is not practical at all. The bashers they can handle but this is quite a bit threatening for their livelihood. Even if they can just leave the bashers alone, the prejudice against them was a huge blockage to their promotion and to the recognition they so deserved. Their songs aren't selling despite being great songs and they were not being given opportunities to show what they can do. So the members decided to follow BNF's decision to disband, but they wanted one last shot--their 2nd single would have been their last. Because it was supposed to be their last single, the members decided to pour their heart out into the song and the dance that comes with it. So they wrote about their hopes and dreams and about not giving up. They just wanted to say that they did everything before they finally retire. I recommend you listen to it. It's a very wonderful song called "Go Up". It makes you feel happy and hopeful for the future, but if you knew why they wrote the song, you'd be heartbroken.
Like the song before it, "Go Up" was a very wonderful song. And it was also a very new for Filipinos--we've never heard anything like it. Think KPop, but very very Filipino, not only in lyrics but in execution and atmosphere.
Now while "Go Up" was a wonderful song it really didn't gain traction as well. On 2nd Sept 2019, they uploaded their dance practice video for it on TH-cam, the dance execution was really LIT people first thought they were KPop idols. Well, they ARE idols, just not for KPop people shared it on Twitter and Facebook and it spread like wildfire.
Overnight, they gained thousands of fans. The mere hundreds of bashers couldn't even leave a dent. How could they? The song itself was clearly a bop and the clean precise dance execution SB19 showcased in their dance video left even the bashers nothing to pick on.
Because their 2nd single was such a bomb, SB19 was given another chance. They decided to continue instead of disbanding, and released their 3rd single called "Alab" on Christmas of 2019. The song was a hit (I swear, the "19" is very auspicious for this group).
On 2020, the pandemic caused majority of SB19's plans to be discontinued and this gave the bashers a chance to spread their nefarious intentions. Gladly, the whole fandom survived their manipulations and we tided through 2020 well enough when SB19's first full album was released. The bashers were still there lurking however. I mean, there are ALWAYS bashers who waste their time and emotions, amirite?
SB19's visuals were severely attacked. These were the same people who bashed them saying they were copycats and not Filipino enough so they really weren't PPop, but now they're also saying they didn't look KPop-idol-ish enough to be idols. I don't know man. You figure that out. I feel like losing braincells just to comprehend what they want. The group and the company accepts valid criticisms and pondered on things to improve themselves, but there are just stupid comments from these trolls you'd never understand even if you had a supercomputer analyze it.
You just cannot please these people. So what do you do in that situation? Well, the best course of action is to just leave them alone (because you don't owe them anything anyway) and JUST DO YOUR OWN THING.
SB19 opened doors for PPop groups (like MNL48 and PHP) to be acknowledged and taken seriously. Following their footsteps, several PPop groups are now also being recognized for talent. New PPop groups are even entering the stage--among the newly-debuted ones are 1st.One, BGYO and the younger boys of Alamat.
So no matter what others say, even if some of their own fellow Filipinos bring them down saying they are not really PPop, SB19 doesn't care anymore. They are not seeking validation. They don't even need it, they have allies now. It's enough that they know they are PPop and they know they are representing the Philippines in the pop idol industry. They are proud of what they are doing. Now that they have established themselves, they'll be holding their ground and owning it. This is SB19's pride--their FLAG.
So if you ask why the WHAT? flag is a big red question mark, it's because it is not a question but a statement. It's a statement that SB19 will be raising their flag as high as they can--and whoever is listening to it should raise theirs as well. Flags are made to represent and they should be raised high with pride.
Now watch the MV again and pay attention to the lyrics with SB19's story in mind. After that, answer the question: WHAT is your FLAG?

Their sacrifices, endurance and patience the reason why ppop is accepted in the world yet the fans of these new ppop groups bashing them. For me..without the existence of these boys in the music industry some ppops will be created yet they willdisappear like what happen to ph boyband. At least sb19 reached in US billboard for more than 2.months in top 10.
