Quite a putdown to refer to these delightful short pieces as fluff. Beethoven didn't write fluff. I thought the better description was that this is the closest to Mozart that Beethoven gave us.
@@lynnebair2092 OK, well, "fluff" is not far from "trifle" or "bagatelle." So in a sense Mari is correct. However, it's one thing for Beethoven to call it by such a term and it's another thing for someone else to do that. Mari calling the piece a bagatelle wouldn't be inappropriate, but calling it fluff is a bit insulting to the composer.

Schnabel is so much better than my grade 1 piano performance. Seriously, he makes something of these fluffy musical bits.

This 'fluff' also rather contradicts the notion that LvB was a mediocre melodist.
