Yeah I like experimentation too, I just don’t think the execution of said experimentation sounds as good as previous songs. I didn’t love GRL GVNG but the production got me. Maybe with headphones I’ll enjoy TGIF more but I wish it had that hard bass to give it a nice foundation.

It never looks forced, like they are doing something they don’t like or like they are not sure of what they are doing. And as they should because they have the talent to back it all up. I think it was such a smart idea to make TGIF a prerelease and give it an MV since the song seems so divisive rn. TGIF is definitely one of those songs elevated by the music video. I wasn't feeling the song at all audio only, but that MV had me screaming. They served and ate. Devoured even. Their charisma is off the charts. Miss Jurin is a superstar, she delivers every performance. Also props to their creative team, because the video editor delivers every time and the creative director needs a raise. XG has consistently delivered since their debut and I'm just so excited every time I see them.

TGIF was def for the girls😭 I didn't think I would like it when it started but like you said, they just pull it off. Idk how, but they did. It's very kitch and fun (sorry if I used that wrong cuz I literally googled it when IVE's song came out☠️ I'd never heard it before). Idk if I'll seek it to listen to often, but I def wouldn't skip it. It's a cute song for a workout warm up too🫶🏻🫶🏻 and then I obviously loved the GRL GVNG choreo. I liked that they're branching out and committing to a prop. It can't be easy, so props (pun not intended, but I'll take it) to them for killing it.👏🏻👏🏻

What I think sets this group apart is that is it very obvious that they are taken care of, and they are NOT afraid to do things that are weird, outside of their "genre", uncomfortable, etc....and to me that really sets them apart because it showcases their versatility and ability to enter any space and deliver, regardless of it is their best work, or something a bit lighter and fun like TGIF. I have mad respect for this group's ability to deliver quality work regardless.

TGIF is not really my thing. I don't hate it tho. Girl Gang is on my playlist (one of my many playlists). I LOVE it. The choreo wasn't as hard as I thought it would be so I didn't love that. But I do understand that they are focusing on the ALS in this one.
I think the choreo isn't hard if you're learning it on your own but like for a group to be that synchronized even with the subtlest movements like moving a chair in sync has to take as much work as their more complicated choreo. Like even their shoulder sways are just in alignment it looks like you're watching multiple mirrors of one person
The choreo itself is not hard, but working with the chairs and moving them around seamlessly, prepping them for walking on, climbing up and down adds a whole level of difficulty! Don't underestimate the difficulty of using those chairs! 😂 Plus add in the unfamilarity of the different stages, bright lights shining on their faces during perf (can't see well) etc, they must have practiced so hard to get everything absolutely perfect ❤
What I meant by "hard" is tough, aggressive hip hop. For me the energy of the choreography didn't match the energy of the song. The difficulty was apparent. They are skilled dancers and technicians. Just wanted it to be a bit grittier or swaggier.

You should check out the live stage performance especially inkigayo one. Live vocals and the fact that the chairs spells GRL GVNG. In the beginning it’s all scrambled, and when Chisa’s chorus part comes up and when they line up the chairs in a straight line. It spells the song title
Tbh on my first listen, I wasn’t feeling it. But watching it with the MV, I felt like I understood how they wanted this song to be. Nothing too serious, something fun and weird and easy to dance. Really smart of them to bring this song to life. I feel like it’s not everyone’s cup of tea because it’s so gay-coded (no offense) and not everyone vibes to drag/cunty music - if that makes sense. But it’s def fun to dance with girl friends and I bet it’s a banger when the song is being done live. What’s super nice is the energy and confidence XG brings. They can make the most out of place song into something trendy. 😂 Don’t stop experimenting, XG! We love you for being ✨you✨
