Thank you. You know how you find yourself thinking "I wonder how this works". Today was how thunder worked because I'm in a thunderstorm right now. Thnx
I can't believe I was offended by my taste for jelly sndwiches looking in a video about thunder sound.... like, that's the last place I thought that would happen
Two years and no one has answered this? As mentioned in the video, thunder is the expanding shockwave that occurs when lightning almost instantaneously heats air to tens of thousands of degrees, which causes a localized pressure buildup at the lightning bolt. A single vertical bolt will sound like a continuous rumble. Shockwaves originating from lower elevations of the bolt reach you first, followed by those from higher elevations. Forked lightning will have more interesting dynamics as shockwaves can interfere with each other in varied ways. You can also hear echoes, which will draw out the sound.
This is a pretty poor explanation of what thunder is. Lightning is an electrical discharge; it doesn't "rip through" anything, it's actually moving from particle to particle of the air itself. When it does this, though, it's delivering massive amounts of energy to the air particles it touches, and that heats up the particles in a split second. Hot particles move quickly and rebound off one another energetically, so the heated air particles spread apart from one another like billiards balls when they're struck, literally at the speed of an explosion. That explosion of moving air is what makes the sound of thunder.
u made me hungry, now I'm going to have peanut butter and jelly sandwich with cup of green tea, it's midnight 01:01 here right now ... Thanks for that 😿
TestTube 101 I'm not sure that you will reply, let alone see this but, I am really enjoying your new videos. They have a lighter tone to them and are very sciency in fun, easy to digest chunks. Plus the quality of the videos are great, keep up the good work.
The reason I'd eat a jelly 'only' sandwich is cuz its great with cheese... And Im allergic to peanuts (and thus peanutbutter). Then again Jelly is more so jam where Im from...
Great video- wish I could show it in my classroom but with words like "heck" "stupid" and "farting"- I can't. I know- super conservative school. Great explanation and entertaining though

Repent of all your sins to ALMIGHTY JESUS if you don’t follow ALMIGHTY JESUS CHRIST you still can don’t worry it’s not to late because you still alive so get to know him now as soon as possible
Relliktherapper Even if Durant is ready for the season, and some how magically makes it more than 3 games without injuring his foot again and retiring, him and westbrooke will fight over whose more of a ball hog.
TestTube 101 Unsubscribed because this is soooooo LAME!You try to combine a show for 5 year olds(not a bad thing, kinda liked it,and by show I mean explaining) with insulting(also not a bad thing by itself, but the combination is so bad!),Gives me cancer!
The earth's inner core and the sun's surface are about 6,000 degrees Celsius, and the lightning bolt is about 6 times hotter than those, which is about 30,000 degrees Celsius. When the lightning strike, the superheated air molecules explode in order to quickly remove the lightning heat, which creates thunder. After the superheated air molecules exploded, the air already quickly cooled down and the lightning heat is already gone, but this explosion also creates thunder.

When these atomic bombs exploded, it should've created a huge explosion noise since it was a huge bomb. This is a similar thing with the thunder. Atoms are incredibly small, even smaller than our cells, but there's a figured mystery with the loud explosion noise, which is that there are so many superheat air molecules like trillions of them, so they all sum up into a huge explosion scale, which then creates the loud thunder.
Who’s watching this during a thunderstorm right now lol

0:20 Lightning is literally ripping through the air so aggressively that you can hear the thunder boom from miles away.

okay... if lightning occurs in a fraction of a second, then why does the thunder last for several seconds...??? ;)
The speed at which they travel is different.

Put at 0.75 speed to have a regular pace at paying attention
Omg 1-a am watching this during a storm right now and 2- when she showed an example of thunder and lightning the lighting appeared at the same time 😂
welcome curious people who currently in a thunderstorm and wanna know how thunder works
Notice she don’t say “who would eat a peanut butter sandwich?” Cause they good asf

This video is all over the place with its pro or against PB&J stance.
there is sprites chain and ball type
I just heard the loudest thunder clap I’ve ever heard had to look it up
We want to know what causes thunder not lightning and on your topic you said "what causes thunder" but you are talking about lighting
i dont know if i should click on that suspicious looking cloud.
What? 0:01
This doesnt add up. If electricity caused the boom, we should easily be able to recreate it with an experiment. Dont think that has been done.
My skool laguhted at this for 1 min then stop 0:25
So . Your saying lightening breaks the sound barriers ..
is this for kids? 6 years old?
Why put jelly in toast... Jam is clearlu the more logical decision
