My mother lives on the banks of Point Sturt. she's about to cop the lot. But her house was built in 1855 and they weren't stupid back then so it's back up on the high ground. Love these updates. I'm telling her what's happening. Keep them coming.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I've been wondering what Mannum looks like currently with the levee and preparations they're making. You provided a good bird's eye view of the current situation there. Much appreciated.
It's sad that the Government has that much control over us,power boats every one should realise will do damage. Love Mannum another informative video keeps us in the picture thanks Mark.
No worries, thanks for watching. No the only place I know of is near the mouth where they have 2 sand dredges but they are not needed atm because of the high flow.
wind made up for it today wednesday 28/12/22,went over swanport bridge white caps and heavy flow, wellington ferry shut. Tailem open. just saw rhino today is he from Monarto zoo on loan?
Not old or fussy, a simple request for the basic essential condiments that go with chips. People do not listen or care these days. I ordered a hotdog with sauce at Goolwa the other week. Received one with the lot. Then it seemed like a problem for them to make another. Then they tried to overcharge me. I threw half out it was rubbish. Needless to say they received an applicable review. Not a warm and fuzzy one. Better luck next time. Amazing footage at Haythorpe
Any good yabbie spots close to Murray bridge? Everywhere I've been cops turn up and threaten fines. Also the reason they've banned swining and fishing is from septic systems upstream have flooded into the river, no like it makes much difference xD
They were worried about people fishing on Levi banks, that rule got changed today & you can now fish from the bank as long as you are not on a Levi bank. Best to get up Swan Reach way for yabbies when u are able to use a boat.
@@driftingingilliganexplorin4409 I got told by 2 cops 3 or 4 days ago that it was because raw sewage, also hot the 10k fine threat because I was sitting on a park bench that was in the water. Any good channels to go yabbying in, only up here till the 3rd and want to take the nephews out to get them off the games.
It was the minister for environmental on ABC radio, they were mainly worried about old Levi banks failing in & people also messing up good ones. Most people just fish for fun & just catch carp. Still can't swim or sit in the water. Don't really know of too many channels around the Bridge, maybe the Swanport wetlands on the eastern side of the Swanport Bridge or maybe the back waters on Mannum Rd as u cross over the railway line in Murray Bridge
@@driftingingilliganexplorin4409 thanks for the info, I'll have to have a look, I remember as a kid coming down and catching yabbys in farmers channels but that's was a long time ago and I can't find them now.
You have underestimated the effect of the flow rate on boatin g. A quick scan of TH-cam will reveal shack owners going arse up in dinghies and kayaks whilst checking their properties. I think we should let Charles Darwin rule; go and play with the river, drown if you insist, but don't expect us to come and save you.
Most of those people will go arse up no matter what the flow but I understand why they have most of the rules, as I said in the video u should be able to kayak in the back waters & fish off the bank. Imagine what would happen if they banned some of the rivers with rapids in NZ. Thanks for watching 😊
@@driftingingilliganexplorin4409 Government should take a dam good look at the sea. With waves, tides, wind, shellfish, sunburn etc etc they should definitely be banning any activity!
You can also drown in a bath tub just my point of view & most people I talk to along the Murray but as I said in the video I'm usually wrong 😊 Have a great day
The concern too is the garbage floating down the river. I'm using a kayak to cross our marina to get to my car, but won't go onto the river. And only because there's no other way of getting around.
@@driftingingilliganexplorin4409 travel logs oh dear I hope they got a refund on that bridge. Considering Murray Bridge was built in 1879 and Parainga Bridge in 1927 and still going strong shows you can't beat the old construction techniques.

Good work mate I really enjoy watching your show and food reports keep em honest brother.
Thanks mate, much appreciated, have a great new year.
Hopefully I'll get up there tomorrow for a night or 2.. only problem is finding a spot to camp.. another great video, keep up the good work!!
Thanks, where are you looking to camp ?
@@driftingingilliganexplorin4409 not to sure, hopefully somewhere near mannum don't like my chances though
If you run into trouble they have the Mannum Football oval open for camping.

No worries David, my pleasure.
just another great video
Thanks Ralph
Try living in Mildura whilst we were in lock down, I couldn't even go and throw a line in even though I'm only 2min to the water.
It's been a crazy couple of years.
The river is still full at swan hill mark so you are still going to get a lot of water down your way over the next few months 👍👍👍
Yep lots to come, I think Renmark hit its peak this past weekend
Thanks for posting,do they ever dredge the river?

Yeh wasn't too good, that Cozzy guy gave it to the Council, not too sure why 🤔
Why is everyone calling it the river Murray and not the Murray river ?? Everyone news wise reversing normal identifying descriptions ?
I use both in my Titles purely because I know people will use both when they go to the TH-cam search engine. Titles are what get viewers.

Tailem bend is not flooded!!!!
Only some of the low-lying shacks & some irrigation areas back towards Westbrook but the peak is still around 3 weeks away down here.
Why is there two bridges at blanchtown one not used ?
I believe the 1st one was found to have structural problems in the 90's so they had to build another one.
