The Lakers have not only solidified themselves as a championship contender with these trades (Luka Doncic and Mark Williams), but they’ve made their team young as a whole. Luka Doncic is only 25. Austin Reaves is only 26. Rui Hachimura is only 26. Mark Williams is only 23. Jarred Vanderbilt is only 25. Jaxson Hayes is only 24. The two oldest players on the Lakers are LeBron James at age 40 and Dorian Finney-Smith at age 31. Gabe Vincent is 28. Lakers’ GM Rob Pelinka and the team’s excellent scouting department will find 2nd round value in an older, more polished NBA prospect like they always do. Two NBA guard prospects that quickly come to my mind for the Lakers in this year’s NBA Draft are: Hunter Sallis and Nique Clifford. They’re projected to go in the 2nd round.
It blows my mind how many people are clutching pearls over draft picks that will be a low first rounder SIX YEARS FROM NOW considering what the Lakers got. Basically, Knect for Mark Williams. Coming back from injury, Williams minutes didn't go over 20 until end of December. Check out his January. 18.9 ppg 14.5 rpg 74% FT shooter during month. Included a 38 point game and a 31 point game. Lob Dunk monster. Glass monster. 3.5 Offensive reb per game for season in 25 minutes per game. Had back and foot injures, but NO SURGERIES. 7'1, 7'6 wingspan. 23 years old. Restricted free agent after 2026, which gives team control of situation. I don't know who else they could've gotten on available market that could be better for this team. As much as we like DK, are we even sure he'd be in the rotation in the playoffs?
Mark has taken a big step back on defense year though. His stats look nice but if you watched a hornets game in the past month it’s been bad. I hope he gets back to what he could be but this is a haul for a player with injury concerns it was just the right situation with the lakers being desperate right now. And it’s not just knect for Williams that first round pick will most likely be used in a future trade to build around lamelo after the tank for Flagg if that’s the direction the hornets want to go as well as the pick swap.
A Lakers future 1st round pick is going to be looked at like an early second rounder. So I'm not sure how much trade value this will have. Knecht is solid and will look great on your team at least this year. Reddish is garbage. The hope for the Lakers is that Williams can stay healthy and will play through more because he's on a team that can win. Lebron and Luka aren't going to let this guy be lazy so I think they'll get the best version of Williams, whatever that may look like. It looks like they have up a lot but 23 year old big men don't get traded often in the history of the NBA. It will be interesting to watch this all play out over the next handful of years
You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say the Lakers gave up too much in trading for Mark Williams because of his injury concerns when he’s only been in the NBA since 2022, yet make excuses for Cam Reddish, who STILL hasn’t figured it out in 6 years in the NBA (drafted back in 2019). It doesn’t work that way, Chandler Parsons.🙄
Expectations are completely different kiddo. Reddish is just a side piece in the deal. Hornets aren't going to lose much sleep if he turns into a bust, if he gets better then great. If Mark williams is a bust not only does it destroy the Lakers chances of competing this season, they also just got rid of basically all their remaining trade capital.
What you to are failing to provide when it comes to Mark Williams’ injuries is CONTEXT. Context is EVERYTHING. NONE of the injuries that Williams had required any surgery. THAT is everything. Let’s not make Mark Williams out to be Greg Oden and Chandler Parsons, BOTH of who had micro fracture knee surgeries. Anytime I see reporting like this that fails to include the necessary CONTEXT, you best believe that I’m going to push back on this.🙄
With all the open looks LEBRON JAMES and LUKA DONCIC will create? I wouldn't be surprised if every single player in that roaster improves shooting % by 10%
Where Stephen Smith and Shannon Sharpe? I thought this is supposed to be first take with those two guys. This is click bait stuff. Click bait in the sense of they give you an impression that Stephen A and Shannon Sharp are going to be in the video talking about the Lakers not these guys.

Saying Dalton is not that young is crazy

She just wants to hate on lakers so hard no matter what
Lakers are a 2nd rd playoff team…they still need shooting, BUT they can possibly go further in the playoffs

awful trade. Mark Williams is just too slow/dense and has no bounce. he has long reach that is it. I'd take jaxson hayes as center than Mark Williams
