    I also did Computer Engineering and most people don't know the difference between Computer Engineering and Computer Science, the difference between the two is that Computer Engineering you learn how to design circuits, program microcontrollers and also use low level programming languages like Assembly Language, Ladder logic, VHDL and C++ which are used in industrial Robotics and Machine Learning, so your digital electronics and math must be clean and most of the projects that you do involve both Hardware and Software...Computer Science focus more on software which means you don't do things like Digital Electronics and Microcontroller programming and most project that they do involve software only rather than having both Hardware and Software...so when you are a Computer Engineer you can work as a Robotics Engineer and program industrial robots using Ladder logic to program PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) and Altera boards which you cant find in a Computer Science degree

I'll advise you to learn Power BI for Data Visualisation, SQL, Python, Machine Learning, Unsupervided Learning, Big data/Hadoop, and most importantly do work while learning or build a portfolio along those areas. You will thank me later. A degree is not enough, things have changed , competition is tough. Employers want to see a proof/ evidence that you can do the job. So is it necessary to get a degree if you want to be a software dev, or is it ok if you have a diploma? Is it going to be possible to get a good job if you're having a diploma? Or what is important is to do projects?

    • @liferesetwithboni
      @liferesetwithboni  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I don't think a diploma is an issue. There are people with higher certifications or even bootcamps who are hired . The most important thing is the skill, making sure you practice and practice, and have something to show as my guest mentioned.

      @liferesetwithboni  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @siyabongangele5625 you need to elaborate on the companies. Share with him that you mean big corporations like degrees because, in most cases, you will start via a graduate program.

    • @siyabongangele5625
      @siyabongangele5625 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@liferesetwithboni No problem Boni, Most graduate programs require you to have a degree with exceptions from companies like Discovery and BBD. Diploma (although I do not discourage you) will limit your options and make it difficult for you to get into well paying companies. All that being said I know of software engineers with just certificates who are seniors in big corporates. If you want to try and level the field I suggest doing very well in your modules to show potential, that could also increase your salary bracket. I want to say go for a degree but I know that our circumstances are not all the same. During holiday season I would suggest you get your cloud foundational certifications that would also make you a good prospect.

    How to make companies serious about Cyber Security.
    Step 1: Hack them
    Step 2: Sell them their information
    Step 3: Visit them and sell them a solution.
    This is the story of another guy who hacked a company here in Durban...
