I also did Computer Engineering and most people don't know the difference between Computer Engineering and Computer Science, the difference between the two is that Computer Engineering you learn how to design circuits, program microcontrollers and also use low level programming languages like Assembly Language, Ladder logic, VHDL and C++ which are used in industrial Robotics and Machine Learning, so your digital electronics and math must be clean and most of the projects that you do involve both Hardware and Software...Computer Science focus more on software which means you don't do things like Digital Electronics and Microcontroller programming and most project that they do involve software only rather than having both Hardware and Software...so when you are a Computer Engineer you can work as a Robotics Engineer and program industrial robots using Ladder logic to program PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) and Altera boards which you cant find in a Computer Science degree

I meant the 6K to 9k salary , I know many might be discouraged cos kids this days want to start at 20K+ , unfortunately like he said u really need to prove ur self then u can write your own desired salary n u also need to be ready to do job hopping cos that’s another way of increasing ur package , the only down side to IT jobs is that most of the posts are contracts but u really do get paid.

I'll advise you to learn Power BI for Data Visualisation, SQL, Python, Machine Learning, Unsupervided Learning, Big data/Hadoop, and most importantly do work while learning or build a portfolio along those areas. You will thank me later. A degree is not enough, things have changed , competition is tough. Employers want to see a proof/ evidence that you can do the job. These days a self taught data scientist or data analyst that demonstrates the ability to do the job is a preferred candidate over a person with degrees.

@@AneleMbatha-o8f I'll advise you to pick Maths, Statistics and Computer Science courses and other courses...Take Statistics & Computer Science as your majors then you will be fine...Physics and Chemistry is also fine, but make sure you know how to analyse data using any of these tools Python, R, SAS,and data Visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau, most importantly learn SQL.....or you can follow your Chemistry passion later you can enroll at Data Science Academy or other places...Data Science is a multidisciplinary field....There's lot of material that you can pick up online to become a self taught data scientist (Good luck if you're planning to take this route) but you will need to document the projects that you've worked on that might help you to score interviews.

If you want to try and level the field I suggest doing very well in your modules to show potential, that could also increase your salary bracket. I want to say go for a degree but I know that our circumstances are not all the same. During holiday season I would suggest you get your cloud foundational certifications that would also make you a good prospect.
