The Asus X401A is confirmed upgradeable with only one DIMM. I used a single Samsung 8GB DDR3L (M471B1G73DB0-YK0), up from the 4GB inside. It was such a hassle just to replace it though, something that could easily have been fixed with a simple service door on the bottom instead of having to open up from the keyboard and flip the mobo
Hi What was your processor? Mine is pentium B970... Im in doubt of upgrading from 2gb to 4 or 8gb because google says 4gb max but crucial site says it can take up to 8gb. Thanks

@@sooolion9820 the RAM is only upgradable, right?? I'm planning to upgrade processor too if allowed,, im using X401A and too laggy with the 4GB RAM installed after upgrading OS from Win8 to Win10...
@@LenhaRDT0130 win10 requires higher end hardware i believe. it can be done as long as the new processor has the same slot as your existing one. I Never tried it personally though. Mine still runs on old B970 processor, win7, and now the new 4gb RAM. I had a guess that my specs cant handle higher version OS so i did not upgrade it. Win7 + 4Gb RAM does the job for my needs so far. Good luck to you!

Be carreful ! Not every x401u can have the ram change, just try to change it with mine and it actually have no place for it

You can not replace the RAM for Asus X401U. This model has the RAM memory built in the mother board.
@Noobplayz TV You can have it only if you desolder the RAM and solder back a different one's. The question is: will work?
And it's not for everyone to do that operation. ;)

@@raptheflop that's why I came here to see how many slots it has. According to this video it only has one slot. However I think this video is of a 401a I have 401u although it may not make a difference the mobo may be the same on em... I can let you know when I crack mine open in a few days.

Доброй ночи. Имею с 2012 года асус 401. Оперативка 4 гб (32 разрядная 7). Процессор 2020 m. Ssd 250 Гб еще не ставил. ВОПРОС: целесообразно ли паять и переходить на i 5? Нужно ли ставить память 8 Гб? Переходить ли на ос- 64? Можно ли поменять экран на ips? Сегодня сравнил с добротным асусом 2010 года игровым, так у нашего асус 401 экран намного лучше (!!!), а все остальное хуже (клавиатура, пластик).... Намного ли асус 401 хуже асуса k -43 (в плане экрана)? В игры я не играю. Ю-тюб, офис, соц сети (но ноут тормозит, т к жд 320 Гб забит на 220 Гб). А я люблю все БЫСТРО. Глаза устают, может ips fhd лучше будет (или экран асус х 401 а- оптимум)? Интс только 14 дюймов!!! Буквы на клаве стерлись!!!

Depends on the model. The one in this video looks like only 1... I believe it is 401a. Personally I have 401u
