How about using Object-oriented programming (or just modern PHP stuff) inside of WordPress. What are the benefits or downfalls of this. Trying to wrap my head around it and just getting more confused. Thanks for all the info you share!
I was listening along, and I'm getting ready to start trying to do some freelancing and in my mind I was like " I wonder about freelancing? " then, 2 seconds later in the video you addressed it. Excellent content as usual, keep it up!
The most important thing a new developer should do is figure out what part of development they like most and then specialize in it. You're unlikely to know what you like until you try a bunch of different things. Wordpress is only one thing to try. Trying a bunch of things to see what you like not only will make your resume more appealing, but hopefully you'll end up doing something you enjoy rather than picking something because you thought you had to.
Hi draanor. I'm learning ui design. I'm a graphic designer but I also have and analytical mind.actually I wastes ine year to choose between them..so I wondered if would be great if I have them both so that's how I ended up learning ui cause as far as I know ui designer must know some coding and there r front end devs who know ui design.so I am planning to become a ui designer and front end developer. I wanna become expert in both. Some people say its not worth the effort and its better that I become a ui designer OR front end developer cause the income would be nearly the same. I know that devs make better money but is it worth to learn both? I mean is that gonna double my income as someone who does both jobs?...I'm so confused
@@neel6978 knowing both makes you more valuable to small businesses that can't afford both a developer and a designer. Developers will always be more valuable than designers because you always need a developer to make something.
One thing to consider, though, is that WordPress is dominant across the internet, and it will take years (or some revolutionary technology) for the next "thing" to replace it.
Hi WPCasts, how much coding is involved in WordPress? For the past 7 months I've been learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript and now PHP with some knowledge of MySQL. Is there a lot of coding involved using any of the technologies used which I've mentioned? Thank you.
The wonderful thing about wordpress is you can do as much or as little coding as you like. You can build up a pretty sophisticated website with no coding required at all (depending on how much money you are willing to spend on plugins), or you can code stuff yourself.

Great video. I appreciate your advice. Kind of came to the same realization. I am currently a react developer working at a job. But if I were to do freelancing for most projects I would use Wordpress.
You are 100 million times better off learning how to DO something useful than learning some new tech stack. Being able to show you can do something complex or useful is WAY more interesting and hire-worthy! Google APIs are always great place to start!
No it dosen't, because you just using a text editor, browser and terminal . that's it, i'm using athelon for MERN stack development and it running really well on linux

I have a bit of an opposite problem - I've been working with wp for almost four years now and now starting to think what would be a logical step up
What stack are you using right now?

Hello nerds
No! Don't make this mistake. WordPress is an old project.
@Liberal Smasher wordpress is more than 15 years old.
@Liberal Smasherit s not the same thing. Wordpress is not feeding me. That s the problem. And also that s is why I go around saying it s not worth it.
