Have been watching Classic Corrie for a couple of years now on ITV3. I think I started watching from around 1980. Love it.
I watch both. Present is coming up on several big stories. Enjoy them both. The 1990’s are really good

It's not simply English humour. Seen Australians and other British countries with that type of humour although this is "television" acceptable so believe me it is usually more severe.

Total destruction of Tina’s character in merely a couple of eps to write her out (due to Michelle Holmes quitting). Sometimes, Corrie in this era, wasn’t great at exits.

As apparent as it is that Ken is a self righteous git, that house has history for him and he was in there long before Deirdre came along, and it was Uncle Albert's house since then1920's.That must've been galling considering he did take her back after the Baldwin fling.
Uncle Albert wasn't his actual Uncle but his first wife's Uncle. So not his relative.

The living room was called the parlor, and used "only for best". The kitchen/dining area was the main hub of activity.
@Sparty Brearly probably because there wasn’t a set built for the front parlour in the majority of Coronation St.. I seem to remember seeing Elsie Tanner’s at one point when she had to use it as a bedroom

1977-1991 recording of the theme remastered in stereo, before the new stereo recording 1991-2010. My fave is this version : 77-91 stereo.
Ugh Tracy is just so awful. Blaming Deirdre for literally everything and insulting her when it was Ken who ruined everything and walks around like a saint.

I really hate the Barlows at this point. Dierdre is putting herself ahead of Tracy (as usual), and more frustratingly, not socking it to Ken enough for my liking. Tracy is being an ùber brat, shouting the odds at her mother with no repercussions, making me long for the days where children were seen but not heard. And Ken with his integrity bypass, blaming Dierdre for not taking him back after he acted like a randy teenager over Wendy. God, I can't decide who is the worst.

I’ve lost some of the plot regarding their house. Ken sold The Recorder to pay the mortgage on the house. At this point I seem to have missed some kind of property settlement which makes no sense to me. Has Barlow signed the deed over to Deirdre in full? That seems off before a divorce is finalised. I know that Deidre owns the house but nothing makes sense. In 1990 there would have been a property settlement. I remember what they paid Uncle Albert for the house. I have completely lost the thread. How could Deirdre have been in a position to sell the house to Newton and Ridley if Ken owned half of it? They haven’t yet officially divorced. Does anyone know what I’ve missed please? Incidentally, it makes no sense for Ken to reject teaching for so long and scrape the pennies together. Now he has casually announced he’s returned full time like it was never an issue. Nothing makes sense! Who was writing the scripts in 1990? (Yes it was odd to send Ken and Tracey to Peter’s wedding and feature a scene outside the reception and another in a car.) As I write this I’m listening to Deirdre whinging to Alf about Ken renting the flat. At the end of the day Ken and Deirdre deserved each other I suppose.

3:11:07 - Lynne Perrie's drink problem (which she discussed in her autobiography) very much in evidence in this scene, because Ivy is noticeably slurring her words and she admitted to smelling like a distillery on occasions, when filming.
Have to commend her for being able to act whilst drunk 😅

It’s strange that you didn’t get to see Peter and Susan at the wedding. Perhaps the previous actors didn’t want to return or the producers didn’t want to re-cast. Possible plot-hole as Susan did have a child, but she obviously didn’t take it to the wedding. Maybe someone was babysitting Adam while she was attending her twin’s wedding. Peter has gone on to be a fixture on the programme, whilst Susan was rather stupidly killed off. She could of been a decent recurring character with a good actress.
I think the optimum words are "with a good actress" - Wendy Jane Walker made Susan into a nagging, self-important foot-stamping little madam; the kind of spoilt brat that someone as savvy as Mike Baldwin would never have fallen for. The Mike-Susan marriage was so unlikely a match, but seemed purely to add another ingredient to the Ken-Mike feud.
I thought the person who played Susan was an appalling actress
well the last person to play Peter in 1986 was David from Heartbeat who was working in Morse at this point
They wouldn't have had Wendy Walker back for all the tea in China.

She said so in her book.. but then they were all boozing, and smoking and bein fullblown rockstars back then .. and then playing innocent characters .. I want to know what the heck was in that hotpot 😂

Vera goes to Stephanie's place of work, and gives her a public rollicking. Then, she puts a stone through the Wilton's window, when she meant to put it through Des' window. In either case, she'd never take responsibility for her actions. Oh no, when confronted by Derek, she goes into a rage and calls him Hitler.
I can't imagine how Vera made it through all those years on the street, without someone giving her a right duffing-up.

Really enjoying re viewing these since a teenager. Appreciating it more as an adult. Mike effectively killed off Peter. Kevin ,Mark & the copper stripper are easy on the eye. Remember Tina's sacking well,too.

Also, the idiotic storyline about the army. Army sets a man/ woman up for life, you can get a lot of skills, ranks, pension, and free uni education. Heck, Andy could compete to become an officer with his A levels (minimum requirement for an officer, though normally they are uni graduates). My sister got her tuition paid when studying dentistry via the military route, she has a title as long as my arm lol, Dr, Captain, Officer and some other stuff lol
