荷花又名蓮花，古稱芙蓉，是多年生草本花卉。荷花在水中生活，種植在池塘或河流底部的淤泥，荷花被譽為「出淤泥而不染」。荷花一般由 5 月尾開始開花，荷花綻放，最大直徑可達 20 厘米，有多片花瓣，嵌生於花托內，花色有白色、黃色和粉紅色，每朶荷花開花三、四天後凋謝。
The lotus flower is an aquatic perennial. It comes in pink hues or white. The roots are implanted in the soil of a river or pond, and the leaves are above the water surface. The lotus flower blossoms in summer.

We used to have a small Lotus pond in my old village, passed by it many thousand of times but never stopped to appreciate it's beauty until now, age can help one to appreciate and to treasure the past. Thanks for this episode, fond memory.

Lotus flowers are displayed in Fanling Hong Lok Park every summer for the public to appreciate. The lotus flowers are planted in the Mainland and are only brought here for display when they are about to bloom. This year, small lotus varieties are displayed, which are petite and exquisite.

康樂公園每年夏天皆擺設荷花供市民觀賞。今年擺放一些細荷花品種，嬌小玲瓏。前天（2024年6月11日）仍有許多花蕾，這一兩星期若有空可以前往觀賞。
康樂公園位於祥華邨旁，由港鐵粉嶺站步行前往康樂公園 路程約600米。
