0:40 ... Really hard to do that with Stan's setup .. Stan could make his horn bark when he wanted to .. The melodic and tonal master of the saxophone for all time ...
Ivar Westerberg it doesn’t have to be a competition though-I love both of them and Coltrane himself said “ We’d all sound like that if we could” when talking about Stan Getz ;)
Thank you Denis for posting this classic later-day performance by the legendary Stan Getz...from the same period of his brilliant career, love his "Apasionado" cd produced by Herb Alpert now available on Amazon as an Import & I believe was Stan's last studio release and one of his finest with Kenny Barron on keyboards!
What's the date on this? Stan sounds great as usual, swinging hard and lyrically, but he doesn't look very healthy - not only a little puffy looking, but looks like he's working at it, a bit uncomfortable at times.
WTF kind of dumbass phobic shit is this and besides that, what has it got to do with one of the greatest sax players of all jazz history. Imbecile. To troll elsewhere.
one of my favorite tenorists. He's so good!
The best tenor player of all!
Stan Getz in a wondrous setting sounding smooth & soulful...Bravo Stan & you are missed!!!
Getz = Tenor Sax Legend

LOVELY STRINGS AND THE SECOND VIOLINIST ISNT TOO BAD AT THAT!!!
you should check out John Coltrane's version of this song, it's great too.
Coltrane's solo was the best along with Gary Bartz version.
All I can say it "wow"
Love it!!!
Ti ho nel Cuore GRANDE STAN....
Thanks Bev.
I love it.

Nice solo. John Coltrane and Gary Bartz take is also great!
I'm not so sure but it sounds like it should be!
Nice!!
does anyone of you have the "goodbye" performance with john williams?
Is this the same John Williams I used to see playing piano with Stan back in the '50's.??
@blueyedboymrdeath May 15, 1990; He was gone a year later(June 1991)

@jtfunkymojo yeah what counts is the sound though
I THINK THE 2ND VIOLINIST IS PRETTY HOT STUFF.
STAN ISN'T BAD EITHER ... PLAY IT IN HEAVEN STAN ...
Glad you like it Pascal.
No swing! That’s why Stan came out snapping his fingers in 2&4 lol 😂 that big band doesn’t swing man !!!!
Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics to this.
Isn't it JOHN Lockwood??
No worries. I just know that John Lockwood is one of the heaviest bass players out there :-)
Thanks.
Sorry for the error.
Denis
Thanks Marla.

I like Coltrane's driving rhythm better -- this is too bouncy (by comparison) IMHO
Vulgar and distracting violins. Let the man play!
It's a good thing you're not listening to "Communication '72" with Stan Getz and Michel Legrand.
Terrible arrangement and awful pianist, messing up the changes to a very simple song. Even if there was a key change.
saxaphone, more like HOMOphone xDDDDDDDDDD protheroes gay
