First of all, with a large rig I do not want to stop at a "gas station" maybe I will fit, maybe I won't. At a truck stop I know I will be able to get in and out. So I am going to use the truck stops with or without a card. I think you made some legitimate points about access to your checking account and yet another "thing" to keep track of. However the point you did not touch on is the convince and time savings of using the card at the pump. Without these programs, you stop at the pump, walk into the building, wait in line 10 mins, authorize the charge, walk back out to the pump, fill up, pull forward, walk back in wait another 10 mins walk back out. It can easily add a half an hour to your fuel stop. What should take 15 to 20 mins often ends up taking nearly an hour. That alone makes the card worth having. If I happen to save a little money, so much the better.

Andrew, this time I am not seen eye to eye with you on this one. Been using this service for a while and I have no problem using this card nor the company taking the money out of my account. Its just like using a regular credit card and they take the money from your account. If I can save .40, .50 cents per gallon, I am all for it. Keep the videos coming, I really enjoy them.

Been using TSD for 2 years and absolutely love it. It's so easy, everybody wins! I don't have to go into the store to first pay. There's no searching for deals, not sure I understand your reasoning. Plus, you can withdraw cash with no service charge. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Still love your videos.Keep 'em coming!

On the TSD fuel program, I really enjoy using the trucker pumps without having to go inside. Before TSD, I had to use a credit card, which required me to go inside since the trucker pumps didn't take them. I reckon I saved about $240 last year, which doesn't hurt, but the time saved at the pump feels good, as does the app's ability to find the best price at the touch of a button. Access to my checking account? Like many people, I have a monthly checking account that only has enough money to pay for the month's expenses, and as a result, I don't have to worry about any potential cybercrime on that account. No such crime has occurred yet, as far as I can tell. Bottom line: I love you on most issues, but on this one, our opinions and experiences seem quite different. For me, it's time saved and a few dollars saved, without any meaningful cost to me.

My TDS card takes about 30 seconds per month to check on. To save $30 to $50 per fillupit’s worth the time. Buys several dinners out. Some people set up separate checking accounts just for this use. But it’s your money.

Hey Andrew, this TSD program is one that continues to keep giving back to you with savings. If you feel the value of referrals is outside of how you want to operate, either don't accept them or donate the money to charity. As far as your bank account concern, open an account, use it for just TSD, and transfer the money into the account when you buy fuel, it is just like paying your credit card the next day after you fuel.
I do respect your decision and opinion, but will continue to take the discount.

One suggestion for a future video. Your TH-cam experience so far.
How it’s working out for you? More profitable than your detailing business yet? Are you spending more time with this format vs the detailing? You get to choose how many ads are played per video? Does it make a difference if a viewer watches the entire ad or skips it when option comes up? Do you have the option of length of ad ie. 2 - 5 second ones or 15 seconds. income based on number of views per video vs number of subscribers ? Do likes or dislikes make a difference? Hoping you get to 100k subscribers this year.

In the grand scheme of my little 33 gal tank in my Ram 2500 vs your bus, I don't expect to save much .. BUT .. when I pull up to TA in Tonopah AZ and the "advertised" price is 2.51 and pull away and check the APP to find that I only paid 1.74 for that fill-up, I'll take it! My last fill-up was only 24.5 gallons, the pump said 61.88, I got the receipt on the APP in about 2 minutes and my total was only 42.44 with a savings of 19.11 ... that (almost) 20 bucks was lunch that day. You're missing the boat my friend ... sorry to say. And about the issue of giving out your bank info, you really expect that to be an issue, we're so electronic today that I can walk into a doctor's office, give them my name and DOB and they know my insurance information without me even pulling out the card. The convenience of not having to go inside to pay in the truck lanes, the convenience of being able to get fuel and DEF in one transaction, the overall savings, yea TSD is a damn good deal! Love your channel BTW.

Andrew, I'm so surprised to hear you say this. I use the LOVES fuel card through Profit Tools that allows .10 below the cash price and the actual cash price at some other stations. All is deducted from my checking. I like the fact I can do everything at the pump without having to go inside so its mainly for convenience for me rather than the discount. The other fuel program varies .30-.50 or more per gallon discount. I haven't signed up yet for that one. I've had no problem in the 5-6 yrs. that I've been with Profit Tools. They do have safe guards in place (can't remember exactly what they are as it's been a while since I've read them). I'm averaging 10,000 miles a year in travels. Take care!

Savings on TSD can be more in the 50 to 60 cent per gallon and last spring with the oil pricing gyrations it was over a buck per gallon for no hassle fill-up’s at the pump. Agree with a dedicated account comment, use a monthly auto transfer so your dedicated account is never at too much risk. When you save $75 to $100 bucks for a big fill that’s real money. We probably saved $1000 over the last year for much better service. This is not clippin’ coupons Andrew. If you try it you’ll get on board.

Great video about fuel cards. In North Carolina, there is a fuel station ⛽ company that has a pricing program that there sign highlights what they call easy pay/credit card that by setting up an account through your checking account linked to their card gives 10 cents off per gallon, and because of that I only patronize them if convenient, and cheaper, because usually I get as good if not better pricing through my grocery store/pharmacy program. Thanks for all your videos Andrew, keep up the great work, even if the RV'S that you highlight are out of my rv budget(I enjoy the travel trailer/fifth wheel price points). I really enjoy seeing the content, and introducing of other TH-cam channels.

You lost me at MLM comparisons. TCS offers a few ways to pay and none of them are direct withdrawals from your account. The client must initiate the Transfer or Wire to pay the card. TSD however does a withdrawal with in 2-5 days. One option could be to move the cash into an account just for the TSD withdrawal as you go.
Let’s take a Tiffin Phaeton with a 100gl capacity (Tiffin.com) and the mid range of 7 MPG (camper report.com) for 9,000 miles a year. If each tank got you about 700 miles it would take 13 fill-ups to get you the 9,000 miles. If the ave price of fuel is 2.57 (AAA) the most you would pay assuming you drained the tank is $3,341. If you saved .40 cents a gallon using the card you would spend $2,821
That’s a savings of right around $520 a year or 16% per tank. That isn’t insignificant for folks on a fixed income. ( ball park )
    MATH:
    100 gallon tank (7mpg) =700 miles
    9000 miles a year / 700 miles a tank =13 fill ups. (12.8 rounded up)
    2.57(100) $257 a tank
    257 a tank (13 fill ups) = 3,341a year for those 9000 miles at 7 MPG
    WITH DISCOUNT
    217(13) 2,821which saves $520.00a year at those 9000 miles.

Just set up a second checking account for the sole purpose of the fuel card, which my bank didn’t charge me any additional monthly fees to do. I would never give anyone access to my primary account. I can transfer the funds from my cell phone into the second account from anywhere, and I only keep a few thousand in it to fund my fuel purchases, but limit any loss if there is ever any problems. Whatever works for you, but I’d love to find several hundred bucks laying on the ground every year, which is equal to my savings. Plus, the more people who participate in these programs will ultimately equate to more savings for us all, just based on the “buying power” of the group.

@@RVingwithAndrewSteele - No it doesn't take hours, Andrew. Took me less than five minutes at the drive-up window of my credit union. The gal even set up my TSD account in such a way that I can easily transfer money (online or from my phone!) out of my main checking account over to the TSD account, but should I accidentally overdraw my TSD account, it will NOT draw out of my main checking or savings account. Was a totally simple process that, like I said, was done at the drive-up window! No separate statements, either - transactions show up on my regular monthly statement from the credit union, just under their own heading. Much simpler to keep track of than my cell phone bill!
As for the referral program, TSD has a lifetime maximum limit you can receive from referrals, so it's NOT a money-making scheme for users like you're claiming. You also don't receive actual cash for a referral - it's simply a credit on your statement when you yourself buy fuel.
Lots of folk "red flag" the requirement for your SSN, but how many companies/gov't agencies/credit bureaus/etc. already have your SSN? How many times has it been breached? TSD requires it in case you become a deadbeat and they have to pursue legal recourse to collect money you own them. It's a business decision. There is also NO WAY your SSN can be breached if you loose your TSD card, if for no other reason that the card won't work unless you use a PIN, which you can change periodically - just like you can with a debit card (which is what the TSD card actually is.)
Finally, perhaps you should re-evaluate TSD - last I heard, over 22,000 RVers (that's equivalent to almost 1/3rd of your subscribers!) are happily using their fuel discount program. (And no, I do NOT work for TSD, I'm just a happy customer.) Just sayin'.

Then pumping and then goin back in waiting in line again and getting a receipt or credit if you guessed wrong and then asking to get a credit back on your card and then waiting and checking to make sure the transaction was done, and done correctly which could take days to show up. So you check several times till you see it.. Wow I'm tired just writing about it. TSD Pull up, Fill up, Drive away. • @larrybender8262
    @larrybender8262 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Huh?? I love your videos but I think your nuts not to use TSD. It is so much easier to use a truck stop for filling up my 40' DP plus towing my car. Plus most truck stops offer DEF at the pump station as well which is very convenient. I never have to worry about getting in and out of a local gas station. When I plan a trip I can usually figure out when I will need fuel and I plan for these stops. Using RV Trip Wizard I can also setup waypoint stops for fuel along my route.
Please remember the typical interstate truck stop retail pricing is so much higher than a local gas station for the same diesel fuel. So a TSD fuel car just makes it much more competitive. Plus using a TSD fuel card is just as easy as using a credit card at the pump. I found early on that if I want to use my regular credit card at a truck stop for diesel fuel I have to go inside twice to complete the transaction. Once to fill up and once to pay. With the TSD fuel card I pay at the pump. As far as finding the closest fueling stations they provide a very helpful phone app that will show you were they are and what they are charging right now.
Yes you do have to setup a bank account and a ACH type transfer authorization. However, if you are nervous just setup another bank account and maintain funds in it to cover the fuel costs only. I have never had an issue with my bank ever. As far as remembering more password and worrying about brain fog, you only have to remember the last 4 digits of your SSN. That's it. Plus you stated that if you save more money you might travel more and put more miles on your coach. And, this is a bad thing??
As a side note I used my TSD card yesterday at a TA Truck Stop near Savannah, GA just off exit 87 on I-95. Their retail pricing was $2.79 credit. I paid $2.32 via my TSD card.
Andrew you just really need to try it for yourself. Right now I just think your logic is faulty.

As a full timer and having a 200 gallon fuel tank, this card is a no brainer to me. Call it pennies or what ever, but money in my pocket is alright with me! I fueled up this morning coming out of TN to Florida and my fuel bill at the pump was $250. I have not received my bill from them yet, but should have it tomorrow and it will tell me how much they took and what my total cost was. According to their app, since I was at a TA truck stop, I will save approximately .62 cents a gallon. Again, it varies from station to station and also the state you are in, but all I have to do is look on the app on my phone and pick the station I wish to go for the best savings. A no brainer for us! Oh, never made a dime on this either by telling someone else to get this card and mention my name. On average we travel approximately 12 to 15k a year!

I've found value in the TSD program, but agree it may not be worth saving a few hunded bucks. I don't do any of the referals (as like you I don't like dealing with referal marketing or asking friends to buy something). However, since we travel 12-15,000 miles a year I've saved somewhere around $3,000 using the card in two years. I figure out the biggest discount (.80 cents or more) and work those as my fuel stops into my itinerary (This year the biggest discount was at T/A). I don't spend more than 10 minutes setting up my fuel stops and feel it adds some piece of mind knowing where we will stop. Setting up the card tooks about 10 minutes and I use a dedicated bank account. Using the card requires you to enter a personal Id # at the pump, so I don't worry about someone getting the card an figuring that number out. I also find the commercial lanes easier to manuver in and out of with my tow vehicle and they pump quicker (and on both sides). Like I said, I agree with many of your points and am still a big fan. It just works for me and how we travel.

I have a bank account left over from making a car loan payment. I could have gone down to the bank and closed the account, but I'm lazy. Instead, I used it for a TSD fuel card to avoid going into the store each fueling (why no pay at the pump at truck stops!!??). It's got a few dollars in it and I can transfer money in as needed. Without it, I probably wouldn't have done this. As a commercial driver doing 500-700 miles a day, it's a no brainer. My next door neighbor loves it! As an RVer, it's less value. The referral is also not worth much since it requires a pretty large amount of purchases before it gives up $25. Maybe if all your friends were truckers?
I think Andrew is spot-on, as usual.

Andrew I tend to agree with you I do have an account at a commercial wholesale company in my area which is tied to a national network. The facilities that are available with the company I am with allow me tons of space for the maneuverability high flow pumps and never a line or a hassle getting in and out of a public truckstop. I am very willing to pay two or three more cents per gallon to have the convenience of not having to fight the crowds such as at a Costco. Thomyt

I don’t agree with your conclusion however you bring up valid points to consider. Should have a diesel Rig that allows for high capacity fueling. Also there are curtain times of day when commercial lanes are too busy at the deepest discount stations. All programs have restrictions. It’s a everybody wins situation your participation allows for TSD to make money also.

I drive high miles. I use the card to get in and out of truck stops without going in. Very fast. High flow nozzles. Don’t have to deal with the cars. That alone is worth it. TSD requires two factor authentication. Swipe card. Enter personal code. Cannot use it without both so if you lose it it’s useless to somebody else.

  • @GinosGarageUSA

I think you need to do a bit more research on this... this is not a multi level marketing scheme. Many truck companies use this company to manage their fleets. Its quite simple to get around the bank account risk, open a bank account specifically for TSD, only put money in it when you are ready to buy fuel. Its very simple and safe. Certainly you have to determine what works best for you. Some folks do not like to go into the truck stops, then this is definitely not the card for you.
The only thing I can say is it technically does not save you as much if you compare to regular stations, but it allows you to pull into a roomy truck stop with your rig towing a trailer etc and not have to fight all the people at the local Wal-mart gas station.
I have a TSD for 2 years now.. no issues, and great fuel prices, they are usually cheaper than the local stations even.

I appreciate your integrity Andrew. I'm not a fan of that system either. The stations where you can use the TSC, PTS, OBG, card are usually more expensive than the fueling station right across the street. So are you really saving anything? It also, like you said, adds another level of personal accounting to stay on top of it.

Kind of sounds like a rant because you don't want to go to the trouble to do the effort required. No issues - it is good to hear the opinion of others who aren't out there pimping the finder's fee for getting others to sign up. Me? I'm not a full timer and I pull a 28-ft travel trailer with a diesel pick-up with a 33-gal tank getting 16Mpg when towing (but as low as 8Mpg in the mountains or in stiff headwinds). The savings just aren't significant enough to use it, and I have found that RVs are not always welcome in the trucking lanes. So, if my "someday" comes and we hit the road full time in a fuel-thirsty Class A, then yeah we may look into whatever might exist at that time.

Andrew this video has me smdh. First , different passwords, not sure I get that. I use TSD and I had my bank setup another checking account just for this card. The account doesn't have overdraft protection which means it's not connected to any of my other accounts. When I log into my main checking account, I see all my accounts including the one for TSD. I use the same userid and password, nothing changed. If you use the TSD app, that's an additional userid/password. If you have an iphone, you can use the FaceID so you only have to enter it once.
I do get the SSN concerns. Everytime you finance something (ie; RV) you're giving a complete stranger your SSN number. When you leave that office, you have no clue what that person might do with your SSN. Just don't think the SSN argument holds much value when you consider how often a SSN is used. In the banking industry, there are so many breaches, one additional account that has my SSN doesn't bother me to the point of not getting the TSD card but I do worry about all the breaches in general.
