Hi, I'm trying to create a chart like this and the data labels are an important part of it. However, the values end up going over top each other and I can't find a way to fix it. Is there any way to work around this?

Great question and thanks for watching! In excel, once you've added data labels you do have the option to manually click and drag to move each one independently. This might help adjust those which are currently overlapping. When adding labels, consider whether it's beneficial to add a label to every data point (stack in this case). Sparing use of labels will help direct your audience to the parts of the graph that you want to emphasise.

Did you use text boxes for the chart title and legend? Or are they actual chart title objects?

Good question! Yes, we will use text boxes or add words in the cells surrounding the chart for additional formatting control.

How can I make data label for the neutral responses - as it is made up of two neutrals. I would want the sum of both to be shown?

Good question! We like adding text boxes to the chart for any custom legends or labeling. Text boxes offer more formatting flexibility to aggregate categories, change colors, bold elements, and improve alignment. This could work in the scenario you described, but it won't update if the data is refreshed.
Another option is to use the 'values from cells' selection for your data labels. Create a new aggregated series from the two neutrals. After adding data labels, right-click on them, select format data labels, and choose values from cells under 'Label contains'. I hope this helps!
