As an American I really enjoy checking out Norwegian commercials because they are so different to the ones here in America. Today I am very excited to see these hilarious commercials from Norway for the first time. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!
The lotto commercial, he "sends the call over to other family members" so the caller can repeat that he won😊
he should see Verdan commercial!
11:00 The guy is speaking with a heavy foreign accent, he's acting as if he doesn't understand, so that the lady will say that he won over and over again, in a way to savor the moment longer.
The catch-phrase "Lotto millionaires are not like other millionaires" means that they are more playful and joyful, compared to boring old-money millionaires.
In Norway, "Norsk tipping" is ran by the state, which has a monopoly on all lotto. All proceeds go to local children's sports teams, and people can elect what organizations will get their specific betting proceeds.
People can determine where 5 % of their betting money goes. It's the illusion of choice. 😅
The government determined that gambling is bad, so to fight that they started their own betting company. They also determined that alcohol is bad, so they created a government owned monopoly of that as well #governmentlogic 🤣
@@AudunWangen Well they made two monopolies, there is also a separate monopoly for horse betting.
@@TorIverWilhelmsen Oh. They though gambling was THAT bad 😂
Forgot to mention that commercials are bad, so they banned commercials from the national broadcasting channel... Well, except when it's a sports- or cultural program sponsor. I guess people who watch that are immune to whatever is bad with commercials. Makes total sense 🫣
11:30
This is immigrant humor. The joke is that the immigrant on the other line pretend his Norwegian skills are so bad, the lottery agent has to talk to another relative who supposedly have better skills at Norwegian. The man just loves hearing he won the lottery.
Lotteries here in Norway is highly regulated. Any large scale lottery have to to though Norsk Tipping.
Lotto-Millionaires are NOT like other Millionaires... :P
The guy in the commercial just liked hearing he became a millionaire.. :P
4:34 Fun fact: If you recognize the dude in this commercial, he actually also had a role in the movie Oppenheimer. He played the scientist who made the bet with Oppenheimer.
Typical Norwegian humor is irony and sarcasm. Also dark humor. Foreigners tends to not understand our type of humor which I think is funny as growing up in Norway during the 90’s and 2000’s I thought everyone knew irony and sarcasm. I think Norwegian commercials are good because we dare to joke about most things, and we also line to tell a story. And due to pop culture and the cultural awareness we all share everyone tends to get the point. Personally I think we did the funniest ones back when I was a kid as opposed to now. I even remember all of them…
15:24
Commercials for actual drugs are illegal.
But this is a dietary supplement.
And all of those women where just his fantasies, not reality.
... which kind of means it's a hallucinogen :) - that said, that product is largely a scam where you sign up for an expensive subscription then spend your time trying to cancel it.
They used to show longer versions of commercials at first and then cut them short for later on (when people had seem them a lot and knew the whole context) Unsure if they still do this, not watched TV in years.
Må'ru så Maarud
Is a play of words.
"Må" means "must" as in have to.
And "u" is slang for "du" meaning "you".
So Essentially they're saying "If you have to then you have to".
But the later "have to" is the name of their brand instead of the slang words for that sentence.
19:05
It says "It has to be well fone to just eat one" (directly translated), a better translation is probably that "It's difficult to just eat one."
Enjoyed this! When they launched the Smash chocolate, they bombarded us with commercials of a website where you could write friends and family members name and address… Then they sent out ten thousands of Smash’es to all of them… but just one and one and one… and a note inside the box with this text "Smash, it's impossible to have just one"... 😀
4:38 that guys is in oppenheimer XD, he plays the guy who detonates the bomb
Smash is so good! It’s like a Bugle (snack) covered in Norwegian Milk Chocolate. It’s amazingly good!
Smash, and the 1st Breilett reklame where the woman fell over her bike, always makes me laugh
The funny thing about that commercial where a woman tried to buy the last bag of chips, the guy behind the desk is swedish and he had the Main role at the swedish comedy movie called "Farsan". Guess this commercial was on tv when this movie was new🤣🤣
He in the Laban taxi commercial played in the film Oppenheimer
SilvanaDil: We have commercials in the US of A too, Tyler! Ever heard of the superball?? Gosh
You weren´t far off 😂
Well, yes, but commercials in different countries have a different style.
Like, seriously, would you see that airline commercial in the US for instance?
SilvanaDil: We have great commercials in the US of A, Tyler! What about Fentanyl and OxyContin? Ever heard of those in Indiana? (Good one, Emperor!😂)
😂
Love it! Something likt this has to be done for every video he make.
I hope Tyler don't forget to finish the part 6 of the series "Why Norway is becoming the wealthiest country". I just want him to get it out of the way.
yes, he never got to the best part with the resent discoverys of rear-earths and phosfates.. but its been some weeks now, so im not holding my breath..
14:46 the guy in the commercial, he isnt being sexual, he is showing good health because VitaPro is good vitamins for your health, you misunderstood it completely
The joke about the lottery is that the guy just enjoyed being told he had won 8.7 millions in Lotto, so he said he can't understand talk to some other relative so he can hear it again and again.
i wonder what Tyler has his telescope fixed on, it sure is not the stars.
🤣🤣🤣
They can make fun of it because the police is not so violent in norway than in usa
I love the chips commercial. The one with Widerø airplane are wholesome
11:20 the joke is that the winner is an immigrant, and act like he has trouble understanding norwegian.
Not entirely correct. The joke is that he wants to hear the caller say that he has become a millionare as many times as possible, because it makes him overjoyed. He just happens to pretend he doesn't understand Norwegian in order to facilitate this.
I'd say part 2 and 4 are the best once
the once with the cat is really funny and so are the once with the puppet
17:17 this is pretty much the very first Smash commercial (or at least one of the first)
The Lotto winner just wanted to hear the winning many times
more of this please
Here in Norway half-brother is the same as step-brother = thats why a half gummy-godie are funny
Why don't you see the commercial in full before you comment: "I dont understand". See the commercial before you comment .
12:28 the guy is changing his voice to make it sound like she is talking to another person
Is it your half brother?
Tyler: 😮
Loved it,and yes : we do joke about everything here.Glass eye, dentures, death, cancer, politicians,Jesus,God and I love it.Helped me a lot whilst working in the health care system. It's not patronicing,or dehumanizing...it's a coping skill, and the worst jokers are the patients themselves. After major throat surgery,I called my dad and told him...they cut my head off,and put it on agsin the wrong way.Oh,well that's annoying my dad responded.
Suprisee the granka-granka-granka commercial isn't here
Do I have a bag of laban right here? Yes. Was the guy from the 3rd ad in oprnheimer? Also yes.
As a norwegian, there is this commerical from a company named kolonial (now named oda) and they have a commercial of a kid going crazy over that he can't get candy. It all got us OG norwegians to laugh and laugh. It's basically an unskippable ad.
Jeg vil ha godteri!!! God it is stuck in my head..
@@MajorAce_usedtobeMechchadsame
"So those are grass fed cows"
What else would you feed cows?
That's what they eat, grass.
What? Why am I confused?
the vitapro commercial 'too sexual' for the US...that's a laugh and a half.
I totally agree. I never thought there was anything sexual in that commercial. Just humor. I think our good Tyler has a bit of a dirty mind, hehe.
One reason so many commercials are about the type of candy one might munch on at like a movie theatre is because national tv is devoid of commercials! THAT is one huge difference between the U.S. and Norway. With universal healthcare, you're not going to see commencials about this and that medical treatment along with all the disclaimers that follow. Nor will you have commercials about getting certain legal help. So, the candy commercials are typically played for people sitting in a movie theatre before the feature film will be played to get people to buy that certain candy to eat while at the theatre. One classic commercial that they played long ago that has stuck in my mind is this one: also about a type 'candy' that one might munch on at a movie theatre: th-cam.com/video/CjvhFyD0f4M/w-d-xo.html
If you like the norwegian ones, you should try the Danish ones.
Well, the last commercial it doesn’t make that much sense in English, but here’s the gist of it directly. Translated from Google translate IT MUST BE DONE WELL
TO EAT JUST ONE
"It's difficult to eat just one" or "it would be an accomplishment to eat just one" would be the right translation.
@@Tzarakiel thanks it’s hard translating
The spirit of it is more like "it's impossible to have just one." Translating is hard, it's more about the meaning than it is about keeping the words the same.
@@martipotato431 yeah I totally agree. I don’t know how you can really translate that as a Norwegian myself.
hei vent eg fostår ikke vita pro men er det ikke ulovlig og ha reklame i norge for vitaminer og medsiner?
I recommend watching more smash commercials!
I think he did in some earlier videos..the one with the " Smash wall " that turnes everything into Smash
I’m from Norway 😂 end I no the kamursol”s I were funny 😂😂😂😂😂😊
Love it 😂😂😂
About the police is ironic about the police in the US 😅😅
Vitaepro is not some sort of viagra. It is a dietary suplement with vitamins and minerals, that gives the body more energy in general.
1:17 it's not over
You should try reacting to Rema1000 commercials that were funny
the tagline is "goodies for the playful" - hence all the ridiculusness
Shes jooking, but you shall do that when the cow is far away
i dont know if you are going to make a part 2 but if yoyu do you need to react to the lano add and rema 1000 add called doffen har daua. it also has a part to that you should also react to. norvegia is also an add you should react to. please do they are ledgerdary in norway
It is calld seigmenn😅
MORE!
15:27 good health(genes/diet/exercise) is attractive.
LOL ITS ABOUT GUMMIS
i dear u to show it mr. america
Hey🤬i from NORWAY
You lose some of the worldplay.
For example: "sur" can mean both sad and sour. Which is how it is used at the photographer.
Grumpy, not sad.
@@ahkkariq7406
That might be. It's a synonym, so both are correct. I'm not a professional translator, just a native speaker of Norwegian, like yourself (judging by your videos). But I do agree "grumpy" might be more accurate than "sad" in this context.
Sur has NEVER meant sad. Sur is more like grumpy.
REACT TO: WHY NORWAY IS SO WEALTHY PART 6😀
Kinda interesting...I didn't see anything sexual in the VitaPro ad...I see v i t a l i t y...and SMASH- police "violence"..does it hit too close too home.....for the ones that decide what to air?🤔
Not sexual, but it's portraying women as trophies kind of thing.
(I don't mind that kind of humor, I remember when the commercial first came up and the song was played around school lol)
And throwing shade at Americans every opportunity you get is kinda stupid.
you make you Americans sound soft haha
this will never ever air in america
You actually thought that a commercial was making a joke about an actual human amputee?! That stuff wouldn't fly in anywhere, even silly Canada.
You must be a real psy**
This is the Norweigan channel you troll! 😂 I guess all this spamming & stalking takes it's toll... ever considered quitting?! 😅🫠
Dark humor actually exists everywhere except in the US where specimens like you don't seem to realize that it's actually just a joke.
@@Valfodr_jr Dark humour needs intelligence from the creator and the receiver.....
He's pretending not to understand so he can hear it again and again. He's not really jeopardising anything
Vitapro is just a supplement (which obviously, like all supplements, is entirely a money sink with no actual benefits)
Um, yeah, Tyler, Americans aren't very good at marketing and commercials....
Likewise, Jamaicans aren't very good at sprinting....
Not tv commercial no. You are correct! 🤓
For once, I agree with you, creature. The US excels at advertising. Just look at the marketing of eg Oxycontin! It was so good and successful that you guys now have an opioid crisis that is the greatest the world has ever seen! Kudos to USA!!!
Whow! Well, The coca Cola comercials and those for Pepsi, are amongst the best in the world. But otherwise, there is little variety. And the jamaicans really do suck at sprinting. hehe.
