    question. does this lens keep focus when set to manual and you power off and power your camera back on?
    or does it automatically reset ?

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lens has a AF/MF switch. It keeps focus if you use the switch.

      @@MichaelNgvyen awesome. Have heard some will still reset regardless.

    Can i put ND filter with this very wide angle without vignette? Do i need stepup ring?

    Im just worried about the distortion. I want To use it for REP. I don’t want to sit there and have to crop/distortion correct in post.

      very little distorting in video and a bit in photo but nothing major! The look outweighs the tiny bit of distortion

      @@Officialflymedia I sold my 10-18. I was a fan. Images seemed soft to me. The 10-20 is great but I prefer the 11mm for the f1.8 for low light. Cleaner images

    Full frame lens ??

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its aps-c. I have a few videos explaining why I use it for full frame. Main things, combating the crop factor in 4k60 on the A7iv and 2 focal lengths with FF mode and crop mode.

    Hi
    Thanks for great video and information you have provided us as usual, I bought this lens (brand new) and when I use it on Sony ZV E10 it keeps focus changing from my face and background (I use ND filter and lowest aperture), it happens even when I use it with zhiyun crane 3 and sit down on a chair in park , is it something wrong with the lens or with my camera settings you think?
    Thanks for your help in advance 🙏

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Appreciate the kind comment about the video. It shouldn’t be the lens. I’ve never had it jump focus even at 1.8. Are you using face detection AF with the wide focus setting?

    • @ourwaytocanada
      @ourwaytocanada ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelNgvyen hi

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ourwaytocanada I have my AF speeds both adjust to 3, right in the middle. On the gimbal you should use centre focus as when you move the centre is where it will stay. It might be that when you are on the chair you should be to far? Have you tired to hold the camera with the lens vlog style? Maybe try that and see if the focus jumps from your face or not. Film yourself doing a vlog and walk/talk with Af speed both set to 3. IF it jumps if could be your copy of the lens, then you can just get a warranty replacement. But that least you will have answers. Let me know how it turns out. hope that helps.

    what is the final focal length of sony 11mm 1.8 on a7c apsc mode?
    And does its aperture of f1.8 remain same on A7C?

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Raki. The 11mm made for APSC. The focal length in perspective works out to 16.5mm in 35mm terms. The aperture still remains 1.8 in terms of its ability to gather light.( Aka low light performance ). Hope that all made sense for you.

    • @raki6232
      @raki6232 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It explains all I wanted to know.
      I always knew Sony a7c is a fulframe camera, now you just said it's an apsc.

    Nice video! Im choosing between this lens and the Samyang 12mm f2.0. Mainly for landscapes, and a bit of astro. I saw that the Sony has a lot of distortion, so if im shooting RAW can I get awat with it, or is it neccesary to go JPEG.

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Salomon! The lens does have distortion in Raw for photos but is super easily fixed. I have a street photography photo video with this lens on the channel and you’ll see the lines end up straight with a quick correction. The lens has really great AF and image clarity so a good trade off for some of that distortion.

      Hi. Technically no because its a prime lens. But the Sony camera’s have clear image zoom and it will let you zoom in by 2x with very little resolution loss. Hope that helps!

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its price fair. The laowa 9mm is the se price but only f2.8 and manual focus. Sure the Rokinon/samyang is much cheaper but not nearly as good. But good thing is, the sony lens is often on sale! For less than 500

    • @cherianphilip4707
      @cherianphilip4707 ปีที่แล้ว

      But is it better to get this for 550 or the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 for 690, i know it's heavier but if I can get around that this seems like a more versatile lens and price is also fair

    • @MichaelNgvyen
      @MichaelNgvyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cherianphilip4707 I totally get it Philip. If you need versatility then the Tammy is a great great deal. For some who do real estate or a lot of low light shooting. Then this is the only 11mm with good AF and the f1.8. The abilityyo get blurry foreground and background at such a wide focal is unique. Both lenses are great options for the price. Glad they both exist. Anyways thanks for your input. I’m sure it will really help someone out there. Cheers
