Quantum Hypercast HC3

  • This is one of the most interesting reels that I have seen in a while. It is like the Quickfire trigger on many Shimano reels, but the lever trigger to set the bail on this Quantum Hypercast HC3 works with the spool in any rotational position. There are a lot of extra parts needed to make this happen and I assume that made the cost high, and the probability of having failures high as well. That is how Reliability modeling tends to work unless you have designed in significant countermeasures to eliminate failure modes. This is a survivor.

Well, that is a “loaded” comment as it would be tough to diagnose without seeing it live. You could try to make a little video clip of the current operation and send it to me through my contact information on TH-cam. Maybe from a video clip I can give you some direction. I don’t do reel service by mail. You probably have to search out a shop locally. But I will tell you based on tearing it down, it’s quite complicated and, I would suspect nearly impossible to get any parts unless you have a donor. Thanks for watching and commenting!

How do you fix the lever and firing pin on these things?
