Mattanchery is part of Kochi where people from different cultures coexist in harmony. This temple belongs to tha Gowda Saraswat Brahmin(GSB) community who migrated from Goa during the 16th century due to persecution by Portugese. Their mother tongue is Konkani, they have mingled very well with the local community. The Konkani people are basically into business and are peace loving. My childhood was spent in the precints of this temple.

@porothashawarma2339 thats great. In olden days these Konkani people used to converse with us in a corrupted malayalam dialect, we used to call it Konkani malayalam. Over the years, the new generation speaks very good malayalam.

Most Malayalies know the word AARAATTU of Hindu temples. If one asks them about what that word means, they will explain differently on the rituals in many temples with diverse rituals.
    BUT
word AARAATTU is derived from SANSKRIT WORD
" Avabhrista snan" meaning BATH OR ABLUTION after completion of religious rituals.
During festivals thousands of devottees pass on BAD VIBES to the idol which receives prayers. And sanctity of temple and 7dols get affected by crowds etc. Hence after the festivities etc the UTSAV MURTHI is
Immersed in temple pond which is a common feature of every TEMPLE as per Vasthu/ and temple architecture./ again sahthra.

Dear please be updated, in almost all temple ,during the utsavam days there is a pradha called "PARA"(A measuring vessel), The deity will goto all houses on a caprisoned elephant then the devoty will offer para full of rice or paddy- not only this temple. And those who unable to do para at their hoses perform it at temple.
Regarding removing of shirt for men ,you have to remove it completely Then we put it on one hand, but now a days we for easy removes half. but it is not the perfect thing ,rule is remove the upper body dress and any cap,This for remain low key and uniform like removing your cap before a respected person.
The deity on caprisoned elephant is called "Thidamb" not prathima(which ever murthy is in temple is fixed on that thidamb)

I think that there is no dress code in Kerala temple. Some temple like Padmanabh templehas introduced dhoti for men, churidar for girl. I don't know about traditional rules of padmanabha temple. I did not visit this padnabha swamy temple.

    Namaskaram,
Your narration is wrong madam.Actually Goda Saraswath Brahmins were originated from the Devine Saraswathi river bank which in Jihadi Pakistan now.During the Islamic invasion time they started the migration to present day Bharath.Jai Bharath.

The Kerala High Court had recently dismissed an application filed by the Cochin Devaswom board that sought modification of norms requiring a three-meter distance between two elephants. The court had observed that parading elephants for temple festivals is not an essential religious practice.

There are over 200 videos and articles on SARASWATS..GAUDA/ GOWDA SARASWATHS.. KONKANI COMMUNITY etc in internet. The migration of HINDUS FROM KASHMIR TO GOA AND THEN TO DIFFERENT PARTS OF INDIA RIGHT FROM 1400 AD due to religious persecution by many FOREIGN invaders resulting in killing of at least 18000 HINDUS IN GOA is part of recorded hIstory which unfortunately our GOVERNMENT OF 1947..50 and later did not bother to teach Indian citizens.Story of liberation of Goa Of INDIANS is fit for a mega movie!
Every indian should know what happened in GOA .( INQUISITION OF GOA is the title for search)
