The case is amazing, bracelet finish is superb aside from that dodgy bent end link facet!!! (angry face)
Do not go for the deep red colour, unless you like the one in the video!

the dial color looks way cooler than the stock photo
Those end links have killed it for me. I was loving the look of this watch until you showed us those. Once you see it, you can’t un see it. What a clanger from PD on this one. Gutted.

You would be correct! I have two different colorways. Both have really poor lume on the hour and minute hands. Marker lume is passable for the price I paid.

Having looked at the Grand Seiko it is actually homaging rather than comparing it to the San Martin which is homaging a totally different model I am happy to give Pagani a go on this because the handset on the original is very similar .An got it for £130 which is over all great for the spec versus £285 for the San Martin.
See how mine goes but I love the look of the dial and hands. Hope it is nice when it comes 🙂
The case finishing seems really, really great for this price point. The bracelet as well. Great L2L size as well. Otherwise I agree on the flaws. That wierd end link stuff is not good. And their mediocre lume always seems to be the one thing that should be upgraded by this brand. Great review as usual, The Watcher.
Yeh totally agree, case is great. Might just take that case out and do something else with it. Im thinking of filing down that end link lol
I just received mine and I can thankfully report that the bracelet end link is straight! Waiting on the dial and hands for swapping.
I love the dimensions, this watch looks like a good base for modding, it should look terrific with an aftermarket GS dial. If it wasn't for the price I would have ordered one, Im going to wait until price gets close to one hundred
Has anybody modded this watch? I want to know if the chapter ring is easy to replace or not. Is it just like other Seiko homages or is it weird or complicated?
I actually like that dial colour, looks burgundy to me. I totally agree with you about those hands though... Horendous. Great review as always !
Excellent review. I do like this one. I think color is a matter of taste, but it is definitely different to that photo you showed. Not sure about the hands, they're close in shape to the original but the lume on them isn't great and they're a little simple looking close up but from a distance they're ok I suppose. If I was to change anything, I'd probably just swap out the handset. I just realized this video is a year ago. The price is only around 88 euro or 95 dollars now so it's probably worth it at that price even with the crooked end link. Might look good on a matching color fkm or leather strap too.
I have been collecting for a while. My collection goes from Rolex at the top, "down" through the Hamiltons, Bernhardts and Tissots...all then way "down" the Steel Dives, Proximas and Pagani Designs.
I just believe that watches on every level have something to add to the story. Pagani design, in my opinion, is "budget brand" in name only. I mean...they give you Sapphire Crystals, ceramic bezels, Seiko movements, 316L cases...what are people looking to spend more money on?
I love my Paganis, and wear them all the time!
I prefer good bezel action, real 200m water resistance, original design, usable lume. Also, the name “Pagani Design” irritates me and is too blatantly a rip off. I’d take an Orient, Seiko, or perhaps a San Martin any day. But yes, depends on what you look for.
I think it is the same thing that is happening with regular Seiko models ... as the price increases (and as Pagani starts calling some watches 'Premium') you naturally begin to expect more ... you also expect some of the continuing and oft mentioned issues (alignment with Seiko and Lum with Pagani) to be addressed.
It is not that they aren't good value watches it is that for the aforementioned reasons you begin to expect even more.

Seiko, will not give you the bezel action you seek. Orient will. I dig my Kamasu, so we agree there. This is an oddity, as Seiko owns Orient...but QC with Orient is much better than it is with their big brother. Nope. I cannot explain that, it just is. Finally, I have to admit I have never owned a San Martin, so I take your word on them.
And I agree, Pagani does not "design" much of anything. I agree their lum isn't up to par. I will even go one further, and throw in that their bracelets and bands are almost always terrible (when I buy a Pagani, I purchase the replacement band before my watch even arrives). But I must point out that they have vastly improved their bezels. So, with me always replacing the bands and the improved bezels, we are down to the Lum being the only real issue, in my opinion. If Lum is on your "necessary" list then...yeah, Pagani aint the right choice.
So, as always with two humans...we agree a bit and disagree a bit. But your points are valid.

I'm watching this again Zee after having the watch!! 😊 I actually like the colour and the dial lume is passable enough but you're right about the hands. I don't mind them too much but the lume is mismatched as you say. I'm going to get some gs style hands and swap them at some point. The crooked end link isn't so noticeable when wearing, but my wife was laughing at me, saying only a watch nerd could notice that. Lol. I just experimented with a blue Nato with a maroon stripe and it looks very good and just ordered a thick maroon colour leather strap that might look good on it. Timekeeping has been very good over the past few days, around minus 4 spd. Anyway, apart from the hands I'm really enjoying the watch so again thanks a lot, it has found a good home!

Its the most beautiful homage I have (and I own alot of them) considering I just paid a bit over $100 for it. The poor lume is totally forgivable at this price point!

yeah, the QC... great review as always Zee. This has been said too many times - we'll pay more for better quality, but with Pagani that means going to another manufacturer...

I actually bought new hands for this watch haha! I got kunai style hands from crystaltimes! I think this is the first pagani thats 200m? Im color deficient so that red looks pretty brown to me which sucks because in pics it looked almost purple!
I own about 6 Pagani's but would not spend $200 USD on this - at that price it is easy to consider San Martin or Cronos instead.
I agree San Martin is the best Chinese brand I’ve come across and the loom is outstanding but For what these are going for currently the San Martin GS homage makes no sense considering you could buy 3 of these for the same price and the Seiko movement in this is a better movement than the pt5000 the San Martin use of you want a sellita it’s $500 it’s a better brand but not that much better

I like Pagani, because they're trying!
They got better in the bracelet and clasp game. Now they should improve the hands and lume. Steeldive has got good enough lume, but falls short in the bracelet/clasp game. But these are in around 100$ price range.
I agree, that around 200$ these short comings are unacceptable.
San Martin and Cronos are in a different league. I wonder what's a Phylida like in person. They got quite good reviews.

Thank you for another great review! When I first saw this watch on AliExpress I was really excited about it, everything looked gorgeous..... Except for those awful hands. What were they thinking???? The overall watch looks beautiful but I just can't get past those hands. I am really hoping they do a V2 and change the hands. I would buy it immediately.

High price? It's $160 on Amazon with free 2 day prime shipping. I'd say for that price you're getting an awful lot of watch here.
For that money I will wear it absolutely.That Casing is a perfection.Try the black dial rather.

Yes those hands let it down. Glad to see you wearing gloves friend. I kinda like the dial colour so it's probably a matter of personal preference. I'd have prefered bigger numerals on the bezel for this big piece. On wrist it looks amazing!, watch out Seiko

SM just introduced a dark blue dial version…it’s worth checking out (I find it better than the black)

Apart from the difference in colour to the picture, the dial and hands are different. I would return the watch as I expect to receive the same watch as ordered.
San Martin is the way to go, i think it's worth paying the extra, I've not had a San Martin I'm not happy with.
My Paganis don't get any wear.

It's crazy to me that people are saying this is a high price. You can buy this watch for $160. Think if everything you're getting for that price and then let me know exactly what watch you can buy at that price that is better. This watch is a spec monster and the level of finishing is unheard of under $200.

Love the colour not sure San Martin is worth nearly double bought 3 pagani watches like them all .
I don't mind the dial colour but the hands are awful and I don't think the lume pip is aligned correctly on the triangle.

I agree, those hands are a let down and the lume, even on a watch this pricey they still can't do the lume right. On a 50 60 quid watch I can forgive it, but 150, nah. Needs to be better.
They dropped the ball on this one. For the money there are a lot better choices out there. You would think they would do a focus group or two before releasing a watch. The Chinese watch companies are trying to get past the stigma of "Chinese junk" just like Japan had to do after WWII. A few of them are doing just that. Pagani Design has had some winners but they need to up their game.
I agree man, they need to see whats what out there. Seems like a rushed attempt. They got most of it quite right but the issues are too big to look past.

Im a Pagani supporter and own a few, but i got to say the hands.....WHY?? It looks like a d**k (2 in fact), since it homage the watch, may as well homage the hands too lol, or give it a MM300 hands or what. Since I dont know how to mod, Im gonna pass this one.

It’s kind of hard to knit pick a watch with these kinds of specs (sapphire, 200m, screw links, milled clasp and ceramic insert for this little money obviously it’s not going to be perfect. So just because you don’t like the dial color means nobody should? Good to know 🤣
No ofcourse not, that would be silly. My point was the colour of the dial was very different to the rendered pictures so if anyone buying the dial based on that, it would be quite different unless you like the actual dial colour.
The bent brushing on the end links is just unacceptable at any price point to be honest, just no attention to manufacturing imo.

I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on a variety of different brands including my favorite brand Seiko and everyone knows their QC isn’t the best but I’m willing to look past the occasional mistakes because they still bring incredible value I highly doubt every single one of these is going to have that issue and I’ll find out shortly because I bought one for $110 the other day. I usually don’t go for homage watches I thinks it’s lazy and unoriginal but I understand the appeal to be able to experience a watch without having to pay thousands. Because I have no boutiques around me I use them for test runs to see if I like the size and how it fits on the wrist before I spend thousands on the real deal which I wouldn’t be able to try on until I purchased it online ive done it with the sla017 which I bought and the San Martin GS homage to the SBGA which I also bought after wearing the homages for a week or 2 I feel a lot more confident in making my decision and if I dont like it I’m out $100 where as you’d probably lose thousands if you decided you needed to flip it
I'm sorry but I disagree with you, that red wine display colour is much much better than the pic. On the other hand, hands are specially horrible. Lume is a scandal, really faint, really poor, indeed as you said, unacceptable for an almost $ 200 watch.

What you saw on the site was a 'rendering'...not a photo. Sorry Mate...that's on you to suss the difference. There was no sunburst on the rendering....pretty obvious.

@@TheWatcherReviews What you showed as a comparison between the watch you were filming and the watch you though it was going to be was the second was a rendering...and you complained because the real watch didn't look like the rendering...so...as I said...if you think a rendering is going to give the same appearance as a photo of the watch, then that's on you. The red in the rendering is going to be different than the red in a photo.
