I recognise this challenge in myself - I have Mars/Mercury in the 9th house, and often end up not acting on otherwise good ideas then missing the moment to act because I have been thinking about it too much.
I am too, But what I do, Generally after a certain level, I will start act on it with thinking that adaptable to change. Why we think much because we want to cover all possible and we should be clear what we were doing.
Mars-Mercury conjunct at 1 degree apart in Gemini in the 5th house here. This really hit home! I`m a software engineer so this combo really helps with problem solving skills and technical languages, however I really do struggle with the exact things Ryan said.. not trusting my gut, overthinking, never being satisfied even if the right decision was made... I'm chanting alot of hindu mantras for Mars, Mercury etc. I can see the effects. I'm more industrious. Yes I procastinate because of Mars-Mercury, but somehow Jupiter or saturn in my chart helped through out my life. But I couldn't stay in one place, when it came to work. After i chanted soundariya lahari fo few months, i noticed how it became clear to me of which profession I should focus for the rest of my life!
I have a friend who has Mercury, mars and sun in Gemini. So true! He's a mechanical engineer, very practical minded and also prone to overthinking and not going with instinct.

Ryan, I think, Perhaps,if mercury was trained or made comprehended of beyond analysem,as right action can be cherished with the mutual understanding of both planets of a such a state of being. Thanks for this upload. I will have my PhD defense next September, I know date, time and place. I check the position of planets for that moment and Mars is with Mercury in the 12th house in Virgo. So this gives me a clue how to prepare for that moment.

Great analysis. I know a few people with the combinations you mentioned and their words can cut like a knife.
This is especially true when Mars holds the lowest degree in the combo :) Otherwise the person just tends to talk very fast and frank.
