Wind gusts in the area of 50+ MPH pushed large waves ashore in Duluth and along the North Shore. See the waves at Tettegouche State Park, Split Rock Lighthouse, and at Stoney Point, where surfers hit the waves.

I live in Georgia now and I've shown friends some vids of Great Lake storms. They absolutely had no idea this was possible. Total awe!

just regular springtime swimming weather on the great lakes. I've done it, makes the hot chocolate and coffee spiked taste better
I live on the Northern California coast. Same thing. The Pacific is out there reminding us all that our presence depends on her whim, and always six or seven maniacs in head to toe neoprene convincing themselves that rocks don’t exist.
Last spring a wave just slapped some poor bastard against a cliff wall like a rug beater and just snatched him back out again. He turned up about a week later in some tiny little bucket cove in Half Moon Bay.
They were desperate for some respite from Clemson’s continued beatings of Ohio St.

awesome video. I live in the TC and of course you know about our huge snowfall totals here. I would love to keep a closer eye on Duluth weather. It would be an experience to see these very large swells on the lake.

Why those Strong and big waves in a sweet water see?
We have in Switzerland , just storms in ours sees with a spezial fenomen.
It calls " Föhn" .Its cause from winds between the mountains.
I just looked up a couple videos of Föhnsturms, and that's some pretty serious wind! If those winds blew over larger lakes the waves could be huge. How long do the storms last?

It depended.
Usually a couple of hours or sometimes almost a day.
There were some ships for many years ago that down under water.
Thats why the see in kanton Uri /Urner See , are mostly stormy .Is little and between around mountains .And there are some crazy gays who make surf with this weather.

I was having a hard time toward the end of it determining the scale. @ around 5 minutes in someone walks out on the beach . Its clear, this was a major storm!

Yeah, Lake Superior don't fool around. There have been a lot of shipwrecks over the years... big ships too.
