    This looks really innovative and interesting. The folding is excellent and addressing stem wobble is a big plus. It seems like there is mostly internal cable routing as well (I hate the external cables on my Ninebot Max). I would like to see shock absorbers in the future though.

      Feel like pure know something we dont, I mean binning off selling e-bikes that are legal in the Uk to focus on scooters that aren’t 🤷‍♂️ and these come out in March, interesting to see if there are any law updates from government around then. Great if they can change law before summer hits!

    Great scooter, indicators are by far best implementation on the market, and love the thin form factor. Be great if next iteration could have a larger battery to get the peak motor power up to 1000 watts. Still think suspension is still needed to deal with pot holes on our terrible British roads!My main gripe here is the £300 higher price for the flex over the standard advance! 799,899,999 would of been a more reasonable structure especially as the flex doesn’t have range of the advance plus. 999 for the flex with same range as the advance plus would be even better 😊 Now pure has closed its stores im wondering if their partners like curry’s will have these in their stores to actually see maybe even try?? As it’s a big purchase to do online with no idea how this less traditional stance feels etc. Government need to hurry this legislation up so I can actually buy one of these with confidence! Any info on the battery brand and type? I assume not 21700 cells??

    • @unthenner5519
      @unthenner5519 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want a larger battery, suspension and a thin form factor? 😂 come on man suppose you want a built-in back massager too and still under a grand.
      Totally agree on the stores though whenever you try to reach out to them about it, they just go silent and whenever asked about how to get repairs on the scooter their responses are extremely vague. Company seems to be run by engineers whom whilst great at engineering, do a shocking job at understanding peoples' needs.

    I like what I see! I need about 25 km of range to commute to work, and while 25 km/h isn't that fast, it's still faster than walking, and when you ride a scooter every day, things like simplicity and safety are more important than massive top speed. I couldn't bring a bicycle to my desk at work, but I bet I could fit the Flex model under there.

    It's safer to have your feet front to back and staggered so that way if an accident happens and you hit something you can brace yourself and disperse more weight towards the rear to avoid flipping over your handle bars, also useful when having to stop quickly.

    • @chukidee6634
      @chukidee6634 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I've been told that the 'standard' twist body stance is most needed for faster e-scooters with speeds much above 15.5 mph. Wheel size is also a factor so if this same Pure Advance wanted to go faster, say at 20 mph, then at this stance it would need bigger wheels. Bigger wheels takes away it's portability factor of an e-scooter and turns it into a folding motorbike.

    What security system do you recommend to secure the advance? It does not seem easy to tie with a typical U lock (in the Air Pro it is easy because it has a double tube in the center)

    • @LeChimp-jg6fh
      @LeChimp-jg6fh 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ABUS Goose Lock chain lock when you need extra security, ABUS Combiflex Adventure cable lock - can be used in addition to the Goose Goose lock, ABUS 82364 Alarmbox (super loud alarm deterrant - extremely LOUD), a hidden smart tag or geo tracking device - for example I use the Samsung Smart Tag 2 (with the speaker disabled) - I hide mine the in down tube secured with T-REX tape and a lanyard for easy extraction and battery replacment, built in software lock which immobilises the scooter and finally a few stickers warning any would be thieves that the vehicle has Alarm, GPS, and immobilizer. Also considering a hiden camera with data sim to provide traiangulation and take videos and picutures. Quick release phone mechanism from SP-Connect. I also use Beeline Velo 2 for turn by turn navigivation meaning you don't need your expensive phone on a mount in rough nneighbourhoods. Just as a final note on GPS the smart tags are a better product than most dedicated GPS devices because they often fail to show live data due satelite bandwidth availability and don't have long battery life. The securtiy tags such as Samsung Smart Tag 2 or Apple Air tag have v long battery life - the former upto 500 days and I think Apple say the Air tag is good for a year. (both of these devices can be modified so that the speaker is disabled) And they are much smaller than your averege true GPS devices. The GPS devices typically incur a monthly or yearly subscription - this is not the case with smart tags. I hope this helps.

    Seeing some of these comments I do agree the shops closing so no support isn’t great, was one of reasons I was favour if pure over say Apollo with their Apollo air and particular Apollo city. Once legalised I’m going to have a headache choosing! 🤦🏽 more I think about this video though I am concerned about how low the feet position is as it’s lower than Taur for example so can u even go over a standard speed bump on this! Think Taur did have it right with a 12 inch wheel if no suspension and their rear light that shines on the rider is great. The advance though gives u the better portability with the folding and the indicators look amazing. Almost need a cross between the two! Perhaps next year a 12 inch wheel version with better range “pure advance flex LR”…..

    • @RidePureElectric

      Our Bristol based engineering team actually designed the Pure Advance first, and then said 'but can we do better?' - the Pure Advance Flex was the team really pushing the level of innovation that could be achieved from already advanced product. All with the rule to not compromise on performance.
      That's why the Pure Advance and Pure Advance Flex have the same performance, with the Pure Advance+ being available for those who need a little more range.

    Standing with your foot front and back is for weight distribution when braking. If your foot is side to side, you will lose balance and skid the rear wheel when braking hard. This side to side standing is very unsafe.

    • @RidePureElectric
      @RidePureElectric  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there,
      Our Chief Technology Officer here at Pure did a great breakdown on the reasoning and engineering behind our new rider position (th-cam.com/video/GEnnTD_zhw8/w-d-xo.html)
      This scooter is designed for European regulation speeds of 25km/h, as such there is isn't the same requirement to accommodate for braking under high speed, found on other significantly faster e-scooters on the market.
      The position of the feet, handlebars and rider center of mass has been purposely developed through testing to ensure that by design, balance is increased vs the standard narrow deck approach at these speeds.
      You'll also see that the the footpads bring the distribution of rider weight further to the rear of the scooter. Maximising distribution to help ensure that both wheels remain safely in contact with the road.
      Combined with Pure's signature drum braking system, this gives a more controlled and smooth braking response over disk brakes, ensuring both tyres retain grip with the road without locking up and losing traction.
      Alongside our patent pending Pure Control™ steering system and our new iconic handlebar and footpad indicators, safety has been at the forefront of the entire design process for the new Pure Advance range.

      "Tops" usually means 70-80% during most of the time conditions. So, 0.7 x 16 mph = 11.2 mph (17.5 kmph) tops MOST OF THE TIME, AT LEAST.
      --
      My office is 4 km away and it would take me about 60 min to walk there at a moderate pace. So 17.5 km.per60min / 4km = about 4 times faster than walking, i.e. a very nice comfortable, scenic ride.
      One thing however that I've LEARNED THE HARD WAY: If you ride a unit that is extraordinary in any way then it will attract attention and be stolen before you know it unless you watch it like a hawk and safeguard it just the same. -- Bin there done that.

    Whilst I appreciate innovation this design has definite flaws..Has pure not heard of weight transfer under braking?? Riding a scooter with feet in that position is fundamentally flawed as the rider could easily go over the handle bar's.
    Unfortunately this stance is not safe 😕
    Remember the original segway and a balance board they both have the riders standing in that position.
    Also the "wings " they kind of remind me of a women's sanitary towel 🤔 and I suspect during a sharp turn they might hit the tarmac or scrap a kerb stone on a busy congested road.

    • @RidePureElectric
      @RidePureElectric  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi @Jedinbinx, thanks for your comment and raising some really valid points. But it's worth helping you understand how all the exact questions we're raised internally during the initial research phase of the products design.
      Our British based Research, Design and Development team have built the Pure Advance range, to avoid these issues by default. With extensive knowledge from testing prototype e-scooters, and from years of previous engineering experience from companies like Jaguar-Landrover, Dyson and Brompton to name a few, the team have developed the new platform based on countless hours of testing and design.
      The position of the feet, handlebars and rider center of mass has been optimized through rigorous testing to lower it (through the footplates) and bring it further back (position of the footplates on the chassis) to enhance rider safety. With traditional narrow deck designs, the riders centre of mass is far higher and further forward in line with the front foot.
      As such, with the centre of mass improved vs narrow deck scooters, the rider is in a far more stable position by default, and also in hard braking scenario's.
      This is also the reason we chose a drum braking system, as this gives a more controlled smooth braking response over disk brakes, this ensures both tyres retain grip with the road without locking up and loosing traction, especially in wetter conditions such as those in the UK.
      Chief Technology Officer, Sam Bernard, has explained in our technology deep dive videos, the ways in which we've designed the Pure Advance footpads to be scalloped, to ensure a lower rider centre of mass without the risks of scraping along the ground.
      All in all, engineered around the problems you raised, to provide greater levels of safety, control and comfort over existing e-scooters on the market.

    • @andremartin8169
      @andremartin8169 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watch the video in one of the reviews you will see them corner one at speed and their is still lots of clearance between the ground and footplates and the Advance has drum brakes not disk brakes that are much more maintenance free as they are enclosed and not so sharp breaking but stop in similar distance, and your best way to stop on any e scooter in an emergency is to lean back and crouch down putting your weight further back and lower.

    The only thing that turned me off about this was the top speed. I understand that portability usually comes at the expense of range and speed, but 25 km/h is what I'd consider the bare minimum for any scooter these days. All of the safety features are nice but if you're never going that fast then they're not as important to pay the premium for.
    To give credit where it's due, waterproof is insanely nice to have, and the folding mechanism on the flex is fantastic. I'd buy this if it you sold a model with a controller upgrade that could get it up to 40 km/h top speed. The powerful battery coupled with a high top speed could make this very compelling for the urban commuter.

    • @RidePureElectric
      @RidePureElectric  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So Pure sells e-scooters in multiple European markets where e-scooter regulation includes things like a top speed of 25km/h.
      So that's why all Pure Electric scooters have a 25km/h top speed. So that they can be ridden legally in countries with this rule and where legislation allows it.

Hence a lot of scooters handlebar stems snap at the base like mine did and also other issues as they are basically constructed from the slag iron swept up from the factory forge floor, re smelted and cast. @@jaydavis4752 current adult scooters takes a lot of space. i feel inconsiderate when i take my scooter with me on the train it took at least 4 suitcases space. this is a design issue.... isn't user experience part of your thing? apologies if i do not understand your purpose. portability is one of the important factor of an e scooter.. might as well have an e bike if it has to be super heavy and bulky...

      @@jeanmuyuela8112 I agree size of scooters are a problem especially for how you would use it, keeping in mind everyone uses scooters different. How I would perhaps go about designing your scooter would be to think about how much space do you have in a worst case scenario and go from there. For instance if the space is limited to under a train seat or table then my design ideas would go from there. In most cases fold away E scooters are designed to be put away in the back of a car and heavy enough so you can lift it for a short periods of time. The adds we see on the Internet make out E scooters are lightweight but far from it they are not as you know. So again for your design I'd look at how a scooter could be folded away for public transport users. Could the scooters wheels come off, could the battery? If it did how heavy would they be? is there a way of carrying the wheels or battery once the scooter is folded down and put away? all that is what I would investigate. If it has to be an all in one solution, could we maybe do a whole complete redesign maybe looking at the frame more, looking at does the battery need to be in the base? why not distribute the weight of the battery else where or make the frame the battery looking at new technologies that sort of thing but that's where I'd start. Then form will follow the function. Cost is difficult because one has to be paid for their time and efforts to get all the issues resolved plus materials and who I would need to employ to make a working prototype from my concepts, then to mass manufacture. That would ultimately affect end Price of the product making sure by the time it hits the market the product has been fully tested. I could do it I suppose... if I wanted to be my own manufacturer of E Scooter but I'd rather bring a concept to life and let someone who wants to trade E Scooters for a living do all the selling work and I get paid for making the dream a reality.
