When I was 10 years old, I was an odd ball among my friends. Everyone I knew were hardcore NES fanatics. I could care less about Nintendo. When I went to the arcades, I knew there was a power and presence that could not be copied or hoped to be ported. It was SEGA's arcade hardware. I owned the Sega Master System, I was an outcast, however, I was a Sega fanatic because of what Sega did in the arcades. I always wanted to know what Sega hardware was. Why couldn't the home game systems and the most expensive computers couldn't port Sega's arcade hardware. It wasn't until I went to System-16's website that all the dots were finally connected. In 1998, I witnessed Sega's Power Drift, in other words, Sega's Y-board. It took game systems over 10 years to be able to mimic this arcade hardware. In retrospect, when the 16-bit home systems (Sega Genesis, SNES, and forth) were released with the their Motorola 68000 CPU hardware, I knew, deep inside that it still couldn't mimic Sega's powerful hardware. I was right. While Sega's Y-board was technically 16-bit, it was pushing 32-bit level graphical output because the arcade hardware had 3 CPU's (Motorola 68000's running at 12.5 MHz with dedicated mother boards for graphics and sounds while the home system incorporated a SINGLE 68000 running at 7.8MHz). It wasn't until the Playstation-2 that Galaxy Force (Sega's Y-board) was released that game systems could finally produced Sega's arcade hardware from ten years prior. For me, Sega was better than Disney or any other toy company in the world. They sparked a magic that no other company could. They were capable of anything. Sega will always have a special place in my heart. I always thought I was the only one that noticed this. So watching this video I now realize I wasn't the only one. Thank you, Sega Lord X. I just wish I knew other 11 year old kids that had that same spark.
I had (still have) the SMS, and while Nintendo had a lot of the great arcade licenses, Sega still had a damned good catalog, based on their own arcade hits, that I thought was great. Still think most games on the SMS trounced most of NES's offerings.
Yeah.... I was a Nintendo boy myself growing up. But uh.... there was just NO COMPARISSON between Nintendo games and The Arcades in those days. It's interesting that you mention SEGA arcade games, because those were the games I'd play at the mall in the giant arcade studios they had back then. Come to think of it.... SEGA games in the arcades back then were usually the ones I'd play. I had like.... ZERO knowledge of the video game community in those days outside of our NES, tv commercials, Kmart and KayBee, and the Arcade in the mall we'd go to. It's cool to see the history and the community that arose back then now to which I had no idea even existed. I lived in a small cow town (back when we actually had cows on the farms) so a lot of what was "outside" just was absolutely either foreign and unknown to me. I do miss those days though. People weren't completely completely insane back then.... Lol

Oh my word, I played A.B. Cop in the wild as a kid, in a Butlins in Pwllheli, Wales! This was about 1991/92. I never, ever saw it in any other arcade, and this video has explained why! I realise this is a 3 year old video, but it’s reminded me of a game I forgot even existed!
Rail Chase literally made my jaw drop seeing it today on this video for the first time. I didn't spend much time in the arcade as a youngster. I was pretty much only gaming on home consoles. However, had I seen games like that back then I think it would have been a different story altogether.

WOW some forgotten treasure's in there, Enduro Racer was cool back in the day, i seem to remember playing a stand up version, maybe a paperboy conversion kit? Arabian fight, and Title fight were cool as well. That outrunish type Racing Hero looks awesome as does Rail Chase. the Saturn missed out for sure on some of these, too bad. Great video!!!!
There was a stand up Enduro racer. Good memory. I was sure a few of these would land on Saturn, myself. Had the system been more successful, they probably would have.

Thanks for covering Cool Riders, that game deserves more recognition than it gets. It may be lacking in depth, but it's incredibly fun to just blast through some of the insanely wacky courses pulling off huge jumps and beating your rivals. Maybe sometime you could cover Slipstream, a really cool System 32 game with an interesting mechanic. It's not actually made by Sega, Capcom did this one strangely enough (and only released it in South and Central American countries). It's still a very fun game.
Just recently “discovered” that I could use a DualShock 4 on Mame for all those racing games and am currently loving Sega’s back catalogue. Racing Hero is a particular favourite of mine. Desert Breaker is a good shout though, time to give it a go.
I've been fortunate enough to play Enduro Racer in the arcades when I was a kid. I had the Amstrad CPC version at home. But I've seen the arcade in a few places in the UK when I was a kid. You could pull back on the bike to perform a wheelie. It was so much fun.
Great video! Sega had a lot of cool, oddball racers/skiing games in the '90s. I've never played Cool Riders or Enduro Racer in an arcade, but I've ran them in MAME with my little Thrustmaster Freestyler Bike wheel and it's pretty dang accurate once you adjust the emulator. There's many other obscure games not in this video pretty worthy of mentioning - SEGA WaterSki, Ski Super G, Ski Champ, and maybe Harley-Davidson LA Riders (but to be fair, that game was fairly common when it was released). These games are sadly overlooked nowadays :\
There are a TON here that I've never even heard of. I remember EGM talking about Arabian Fight when I was a kid and that stood out a lot, and both Strike Fighter & Cool Racers look fantastic. Sega keeps surprising me to this day.

I enjoyed Title Fight multiplayer, myself. Having the opponent right next to you throwing punches was exciting. You could almost feel the punch coming.
Sega Lord X I don’t know why but I was always intimidated by title fighters huge fancy presentation for its time. I think I remember it looking a little like a Japanese Sega crane game, with the cabinet being painted white and the glove things having see through plastic almost brass knuckle looking things over the arcade sticks.

Sega made every single arcade game i love. Starting with Space Harrier in 1985 through to Rambo in 2008. Sega kept popping out classic’s like The House Of The Dead and Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. Sega are arcade awesomeness

We had a Title Fight arcade unit at our local Cap'n Bogey's. It was awesome. It wasn't uncommon to break a sweat while duking it out with your friends, either.
GP Rider and Racing Hero are really good often forgotten Sega arcade racers and l especially love the music from the first stage in Racing Hero.Sega need to do a collection for these overlooked games,c'mon Sega for God's sake! Lovely stuff yet again Segalord X ,l bow down before thee.
Dude, amazing job, you deserve your like! However, I must say that in my country, Argentina, Enduro Racer was pretty common to see, in fact it was one of my favorites and one of my first games to play in MAME. I will check the rest!!
Title Fight was so awesome, one of my favorite movies is Blank Check and I remember Preston and Henry played it in one scene and I wanted to play it so badly when I was a kid. Lucky on my 21st birthday when I went to Vegas, the Circus Circus hotel I was staying at had it(along with F Zero AX, Holy crap) I was so pysched to play it.
Man I Forgotten Cool Riders, such a good game. That takes me back. I used to go to a arcade in weston super mare (it's a seaside town in the UK) and I would always go straight the Cool Riders before anything else. Such a shame it never got a Saturn port.

There's one that is totally forgotten and that's POWER DRIFT. A go-kart arcade racer that drifts you when you steer left or right. In a Rollercoaster style setting the game was fun and soundtrack was really very good
The one Sega arcade that I never hear anyone mention (and is painfully missing from any of the big arcade tours I've seen in recent years), is the R-360 version of g-loc, which for those who don't know had a fully rotational cockpit allowing for you spin upside down! Best arcade experience ever!
It's really difficult to cover the R360 machines primarily because they are rare as hell and I have no way to actually show you the thing. I have only ever seen 2 in my entire life, and that was 20+ years ago. I can mention it and show flyers, but man does that do so little justice to the thing. if I ever find another, you can bet I'll get some video of it, though.

Cheers bud and really enjoying your vids, find out about a lot of Sega that I didn't know about, especially for saturn (really wasn't popular in the UK which is a surprise considering the amount of megadrives over here). I'm also surprised at how many so called Japanese exclusive arcade games that we had/have in old blighty. Some of my local arcades would have imports from time to time, generally in Japanese, but a lot of the bigger more mainstream type arcades would get machines like ab cop (I'm pretty sure I've seen that more than once). Also I'm sure I remember an enduro racer that had almost a full size dirt bike complete with wheels, though I may be tripping because there is a different bike game I remember that had a legit looking bike to sit on. Cheers again mate.
Unfortunelly, SEGA itself seems to have forgotten almost all of their arcade games. Year after year, we see Genesis/Mega Drive compilation being launched, but arcades (and all other Sega systems) seems to be left aside. Rad Mobile, Revenge of Death Adder, Alienstorm, and so much more...
I played ab cop many times in the uk at a holiday camp probably around 1994 96 only ever seen it there had no idea it was rare as you say but I can count myself lucky to play it outside of japan
Though this is an already old video, i just want to say that, by having watched almost every video you've already posted, that SEGA is something that either you love it or hate it, but this happens within their own catalogue. There are as much pure classics and hidden gems as awful and poorly done games. Being a SEGA fan myself, i don't know if that happens with other publishers (dunno if i can call them like that, but anyways...). That said, it's pretty clear that the good ones are so good that i never needed to explore other systems. Thanks for the videos. They are really really good.
7:33 so that grasshopper type mecha was actually a minboss in Michael Jacksons Moonwalker arcade (round 3 stage 1) Oh & A.B.Cop made its way over here in the U.K....only a few arcades had it tho. loved the throttle mechanic to enable the turbo boost!

Rail Chase is available near to where I live (in The Netherlands). I completed it in the arcade, but don't think it is great. Even as a SEGA fan, I didn't know many of the games in your video. Very interesting!
Rail Chase I think was a game where you really needed 2 players to fully enjoy it. The game practically played itself, leaving just the graphics to entertain you, otherwise.
Cool Riders... is it possible to look awesome and hideous at the same time? I absolutely love the Super Scrollers. Recently played Rail Chase and it was pretty fun. Ditto for AB Cop. I'll have to check out Arabian Fight for sure.
Sonic Boom also looks surprisingly similar to Konami's Flak Attack, one of my favourite shmups of that era. Oh and Rail Chase still looks so impressive. Amazing what SEGA did actually achieve with their Super Scaler tech.
The pinball game was released in uk arcades, I remember playing it in one. I suppose it could have been illigaly imported (a lot of machines had `for use in japan only` at startup). I remember a Sega boxing game that had physical levers you pushed and pulled to punch and the top of the machine moved slightly to enable you to dodge blows. I also remember someone smashing one of the levers into the machine with both arms and breaking it lol. Time traveller was interesting, it used a `holographic` display and had photo realistic characters in quicktime events.
Haha, I think most of us did. Title Fight reminded me of Virtual On in that way. You were completely out of your element at first, but a little understanding really made a difference.
There is actually a Cool Riders machine at my local arcade in the UK! Sadly it's been offline for a while and the last time it was playable only the P2 side worked well.
Many of these Arcade titles made it into Europe... Been a SEGA fanboy from the age of about 5, playing the Arcades from the early to mid 80's through to the mid to late 90's.. back then every time I see a cabinet with SEGA on it I had to play it.. Sonic Boom was on Commodore 64, Spectrum and other 8 bit computers.. A few of them Arcade titles I missed. Do more Arcade ports so I know if I missed stuff back in the day.
Sega put out a silly amount of arcade games, particularly in the 80's. I trawled through quite a few on MAME back in the day but only scratching the surface. Would love to see another installment in this series.
A.B cop was Japan only? I used to play it in the early 90s at a community club in the UK. It was in a dedicated cab. kids got pretty good at it, we would take turns and keep the credits going. it was the first arcade game i ever saw the end credits on.
And Sonic Boom was not the only Sega Vertical shooter , in 1988 they also made Scramble Spirits, in 1991 Hammer Away, a helicopter based shooter in the same vein as Twin Cobra or Tiger Heli.

Heck yeah. That was 75% of the experience in that game. Being able to simulate the feeling of having control of the bike was awesome.

GP Rider and Racing Hero are really good often forgotten Sega arcade racers and l especially love the music from the first stage in Racing Hero.Sega need to do a collection for these overlooked games,c'mon Sega for God's sake!

Dude, amazing job, you deserve your like! However, I must say that in my country, Argentina, Enduro Racer was pretty common to see, in fact it was one of my favorites and one of my first games to play in MAME. I will check the rest!!
You could find it here for awhile too, but then Enduro Racer just vanished. I haven't seen a working machine in 15 years+.
I loved enduro racer in the arcades when you used to pull back the unit to do a wheelie, great back in the day!
Title Fight was so awesome, one of my favorite movies is Blank Check and I remember Preston and Henry played it in one scene and I wanted to play it so badly when I was a kid.
Lucky on my 21st birthday when I went to Vegas, the Circus Circus hotel I was staying at had it(along with F Zero AX, Holy crap)
I was so pysched to play it.

Man I Forgotten Cool Riders, such a good game. That takes me back. I used to go to a arcade in weston super mare (it's a seaside town in the UK) and I would always go straight the Cool Riders before anything else. Such a shame it never got a Saturn port.
I actualy played AB Cop in the Netherlands .. back in 92 i was blown away..
There was one arcade in my city (Madras, India) that featured A.B.Cop. It featured a handlebar setup with a dedicated boost button. Good times.

So what’s the age restriction on that place? As someone under 21 who loves retro games, I’ve come to learn that all the good arcades with the really obscure games tend to be 21+

I ran the 4th floor arcade in Mall of America years ago and we had a Title Fight Machine. Those joysticks hurt your hands like Crazy but it was fun.
I played Title Fight at Cedar Point theme part when I was a kid. I never found it anywhere else and forgot it existed.

Man that intro is... AWESOME.
There's one that is totally forgotten and that's POWER DRIFT. A go-kart arcade racer that drifts you when you steer left or right. In a Rollercoaster style setting the game was fun and soundtrack was really very good
It was a damn good game, too. The Saturn got a port of it, as well as the 3DS, Dreamcast, and PC Engine.
I used to play all of these in the arcades here in the Philippines. ABCop was really fun.
I do remember Cool Ryder's In the arcade. I remember born to be wild playing as the loop song and having to sit on the bike.
It's an odd one. It sorta reminds me of Midways Cruis'n USA games. The digitized presentation being something Sega didn't do very often.

The one Sega arcade that I never hear anyone mention (and is painfully missing from any of the big arcade tours I've seen in recent years), is the R-360 version of g-loc, which for those who don't know had a fully rotational cockpit allowing for you spin upside down!

It's really difficult to cover the R360 machines primarily because they are rare as hell and I have no way to actually show you the thing. I have only ever seen 2 in my entire life, and that was 20+ years ago. I can mention it and show flyers, but man does that do so little justice to the thing. if I ever find another, you can bet I'll get some video of it, though.
@@SegaLordX, ain't that the truth, I don't even remember seeing one in any clips from the Sega arcade in Japan! Cheers bud and really enjoying your vids, find out about a lot of Sega that I didn't know about, especially for saturn (really wasn't popular in the UK which is a surprise considering the amount of megadrives over here). I'm also surprised at how many so called Japanese exclusive arcade games that we had/have in old blighty. Some of my local arcades would have imports from time to time, generally in Japanese, but a lot of the bigger more mainstream type arcades would get machines like ab cop (I'm pretty sure I've seen that more than once). Also I'm sure I remember an enduro racer that had almost a full size dirt bike complete with wheels, though I may be tripping because there is a different bike game I remember that had a legit looking bike to sit on.

Unfortunelly, SEGA itself seems to have forgotten almost all of their arcade games. Year after year, we see Genesis/Mega Drive compilation being launched, but arcades (and all other Sega systems) seems to be left aside. Rad Mobile, Revenge of Death Adder, Alienstorm, and so much more...
I played ab cop many times in the uk at a holiday camp probably around 1994 96 only ever seen it there had no idea it was rare as you say but I can count myself lucky to play it outside of japan

Though this is an already old video, i just want to say that, by having watched almost every video you've already posted, that SEGA is something that either you love it or hate it, but this happens within their own catalogue. There are as much pure classics and hidden gems as awful and poorly done games. Being a SEGA fan myself, i don't know if that happens with other publishers (dunno if i can call them like that, but anyways...). That said, it's pretty clear that the good ones are so good that i never needed to explore other systems. Thanks for the videos. They are really really good.
7:33 so that grasshopper type mecha was actually a minboss in Michael Jacksons Moonwalker arcade (round 3 stage 1)
Oh & A.B.Cop made its way over here in the U.K....only a few arcades had it tho. loved the throttle mechanic to enable the turbo boost!

Rail Chase is available near to where I live (in The Netherlands). I completed it in the arcade, but don't think it is great. Even as a SEGA fan, I didn't know many of the games in your video. Very interesting!
Rail Chase I think was a game where you really needed 2 players to fully enjoy it. The game practically played itself, leaving just the graphics to entertain you, otherwise.
Arabian Fight, I forgot this game exist! A local arcade in my city used to have this game, it was only 2 players cabinet tho..
G-LoC 360. The most advanced Sega cabinet ever. I loved it

Cool Riders... is it possible to look awesome and hideous at the same time? I absolutely love the Super Scrollers. Recently played Rail Chase and it was pretty fun. Ditto for AB Cop. I'll have to check out Arabian Fight for sure.

Sonic Boom also looks surprisingly similar to Konami's Flak Attack, one of my favourite shmups of that era. Oh and Rail Chase still looks so impressive. Amazing what SEGA did actually achieve with their Super Scaler tech.
Sega's Super Scaler boards never ceased to amaze me. The level of depth created with 2D images was truly impressive.
The pinball game was released in uk arcades, I remember playing it in one. I suppose it could have been illigaly imported (a lot of machines had `for use in japan only` at startup).
I remember a Sega boxing game that had physical levers you pushed and pulled to punch and the top of the machine moved slightly to enable you to dodge blows. I also remember someone smashing one of the levers into the machine with both arms and breaking it lol.
Time traveller was interesting, it used a `holographic` display and had photo realistic characters in quicktime events.
I remember playing title fight in the arcade. It looks quite a tactical game, but I just randomly mashed the controller back then.
Haha, I think most of us did. Title Fight reminded me of Virtual On in that way. You were completely out of your element at first, but a little understanding really made a difference.
EnduroRacer was in the Girvan arcade for years near the harbour.
There is actually a Cool Riders machine at my local arcade in the UK! Sadly it's been offline for a while and the last time it was playable only the P2 side worked well.
AB Cop arcade games were very common in Malta for whatever reason...seen at least 4 in different places back in the day

Many of these Arcade titles made it into Europe... Been a SEGA fanboy from the age of about 5, playing the Arcades from the early to mid 80's through to the mid to late 90's.. back then every time I see a cabinet with SEGA on it I had to play it.. Sonic Boom was on Commodore 64, Spectrum and other 8 bit computers.. A few of them Arcade titles I missed. Do more Arcade ports so I know if I missed stuff back in the day.
I have played Title Fight at an arcade in Hampton Beach in NH. I think it is still there.
I haven't seen one in ages. The big ones always seem rarer. Not even the barcades want them unless it's Daytona or Cruisn USA.
Sega Lord X I also believe it is still at fun spot in Laconia, as they are the biggest arcade and museum. Lots of good rare and older games there.

Sega put out a silly amount of arcade games, particularly in the 80's. I trawled through quite a few on MAME back in the day but only scratching the surface. Would love to see another installment in this series.

A.B cop was Japan only? I used to play it in the early 90s at a community club in the UK. It was in a dedicated cab. kids got pretty good at it, we would take turns and keep the credits going. it was the first arcade game i ever saw the end credits on.

And Sonic Boom was not the only Sega Vertical shooter , in 1988 they also made Scramble Spirits, in 1991 Hammer Away, a helicopter based shooter in the same vein as Twin Cobra or Tiger Heli.
I never said it was the only vertical shooter. I said I wished Sega had tried again with Sonic Boom. I'm well aware of the other games.
