Thanks for the song! My gr. gr. Poppy Patrick Corcoran lost his life fishing the Cod out of St. Mary's. He had a great catch and an overloaded dory. He gave his life to feed his family. Proud of my Newfoundland blood.
Wonderful video, great music and excellent pictures. Sad that a way of life has gone but great memories. Thank you for putting this together. I enjoyed it very much.
This reminds me of our dad that's not longer with us in person only in our hearts. He was not a fisherman but, he loved to and he loved fish. A very nice song, but so sad and true.
Gerry:- Thanks for the Video "The old Newfie Fisherman" Man that back memories to me A Newfie. Who lived around the bay with a boat of my own. Thanks for the song. M.S.C.1.
Thank you for your beautiful music. My Dad was a young fisherman from Hearts Delight in the 1920's , Very dangerous crossing the oceans hosting the sails as a young boy.
My Grandfather fish from Pouch Cove for more than 50 years. I was there in the summer of '65, when the fish were still running. I really need to go back.
It's hard not be nostalgic being a Newfoundlander. There's such a rich history, and it genuinely is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Of course, I grew up in the west coast so there wasn't a lot of fishing going on (aside from brook trout :p) but I have good memories of visiting my 'baywop' relatives in the outports and catching the rolling caplin out around Trout River.
i goes fish in the salt water river in marystown on the burin pennisula its just across the road, i gets a few nice tomcod there :), a nice few scalpin to :(
it okay to be newfoundlandr but my fav place is the bay and the country music it is a great out here but that music goes with your vido thow so graet job!!! ~*~*~*
simply lovely,,the fish may return someday, but it WILL NEVER BE LIKE IT WAS cause the new era of men won't want to fish,,,technology has taken over. thanks for the nice video.
nice song! Many folks are to blame for the lack of fish, I'd say Nflders are to blame too. Just fished like crazy...wasted a lot...I know..I spoke with many a fisherman and they said so. But the trawlers are a big problem too. Perhaps eating more seal meat is the thing to do. But hey, who wants to go there!
@GoofyNewf you can't eliminate the giant cod fishery with gill nets and hand lines. we'd have it made if the canuck politicios let us manage it ourselves

The fishery that NL enjoyed for years has been totally destroyed. It's as bad now or worse than what is described in the song.
