Mate, your attitude is 💯. Literally, took it in your stride. Dealt with what was in front of you and moved on. It couldn't be further from failure, pal. It's an experience. And you've still managed to put out a great video and sharing that experience with others. Fuckin'on ya.
Ahhhh mate! Thanks so much for stopping by and for the kind words really appreciate it man. I agree this was definitely not a failure and hopefully by luring people in with that word ‘failure’, I challenged some peoples perception of what that actually is! Also really enjoyed making the video and making the trip so win win! Thanks again brother the support really means a lot. Also - you still in G town? I’ll be there in April!
Yes, pal, live here permanently, so be good to catch up then. Lmk, if you need a place to crash, we have a spare room if the dates work out. I'll smash you my number in a DM.
I admire the way you handled the injury. I’d be equally disappointed, though I’d likely not handle it so well. Making the effort, having the discipline, accepting the risks and setbacks and STILL being positive… that’s a rare and admirable attitude. Kia kaha.
That's really kind of you to say Paul - I'm still learning but I definitely want to practice more of this mindset in the future! Less beating myself up and more living in 2025 🌞 Thanks again for watching mate 👊🏻
Hey Felix, I know youre disappointed about the outcome of this race. Knowing your body, calling it off and still making a video about it sharing your learnings takes strength. I'll be honest I havent been great with that in the past and I have plenty of footage in the folders of videos that never got made because i was uncomfortable with failure. Keep on keeping on mate. Happy 2025
Hey brother! This comment means a lot mate - thank you for dropping by and for watching the vid 🙏🏻 It’s bloody hard isn’t it, but I feel like this is the first failure where I truly turned a corner and saw the bright side of it! Thanks for your vulnerability and for being such a positive force in the space - wishing you an epic year ahead dude 🌞🚀
Mate I think that was me who stopped to help you!! I was so sorry to see it happen so early - it looked nasty and like it was happening in slow mo when I saw it go. Always shitty to have to pull the pin but very admirable to have the maturity to do so. Stay strong brother!!
Oh mate you are an absolute king!! As I said in the video - loved the spirit of the event and you embodied it there man - good karma coming your way legend! I really appreciate the kind words that means a lot - how did your race go!? Hope it was as epic as it looked on socials! Thanks again brother
Mate, so gutted for you. Such an amazing part of the world though. Great attitude you have, everyone fails these things from time to time. Hope you get back to NZ soon.
@@wilsonrobb10 thanks for watching dude and appreciate the kind words as always! It was actually an awesome experience in the end and one I will look back on fondly! Onwards and upwards brother🚀
Hey I've been watching your videos for a while but haven't subbed so I've done that just now. Maybe it's not fair saying this because you were the one running the race so it was you emotionally invested and not anyone else but calling this an "Epic failure" seems very rough and being very hard on yourself there bud. You signed up to run a race that is an incredible feat to the average human being or even the average runner. Despite your fear of rolling your ankle coming true you even kept on going and didn't give up straight away. You showed up for the race and you did your best. I'm sure someone as positive and committed as yourself will get it done next time. I'll be looking forward to your next videos!
@@VT___ hey hey! Ah this is so lovely of you to say - appreciate the thought that has gone into this comment 🙏🏻 I have to admit I’ve been a bit cheeky in trying to get people to tune into a topic that’s intriguing (failure) - and once my viewers have the full story, hopefully they see it’s one of positivity! I am treating this as a real positive experience and growth moment for me and comments like this one definitely reaffirm it as that so thanks for leaving your thoughts and for subscribing 🫡 Happy running and chat soon 🌞
@felixoates Your positivity helps a lot of others, myself included. Your videos of sobriety have motivated me to be sober too. I have been sober for three weeks and your positive outlook and shared experiences on that topic combined with sports have really helped. Thanks a lot!
Hey dude, this comment means the world to me - I'm right behind you man! You have got this. Take it week by week, build that discipline with the sobriety and watch the benefits unfold! I love my Non-alc beers: Heaps Normal, Hiatus, Capital Brewing and Sobah to name a few! All the good brands are making them now. Enjoy and thanks again mate!
Bummed for you man! Idk why but i do feel like once you've recovered and life has moved onto other challenges etc youll be looking back on this as a pretty formative moment in your journey. Your prep and approach to this race but also all your other challenges show you'll absolutely be back i have zero doubt! The maturity to accept that it wasn't going to happen and you didn't need to punish your body to try to achieve it (or punish your body to make a particular kind of content) is so impressive. Goodluck with the recovery and look forward to seeing how to progress with rehabilitation and whatever challenges await.
@@dannydevito2587 thanks for stopping by dude and for the kind words! Completely agree with everything you’ve said there - it was actually such a formative experience and an epic trip in spite of not completing the run! I’ve learned how important looking after my headspace (in the midst of these challenges) is and I’m not beating myself up anymore! I’ve a different relationship with failure and I’m definitely enjoying that 🙏🏻 Thanks heaps for supporting the channel and I’ll see you around!
I rolled my ankle 5 weeks ago and although I wasn’t in a race plan yet I was so bummed I couldn’t run for a while. You’ll go through the motions but focus on a recovery plan and work on S&C in the gym. You seemed to manage it really well though! Say hi to Byron & Jake next time you see them. I used to play soccer with them. A couple of great guys! P.S great video keep it up!
The prospect of not running for me is always a tricky one but knowing I was only going to be out for a couple weeks obviously helped a lot! Will definitely get back in the gym when I get home to Sydney and sorry about your ankle too mate - hope it’s feeling much better already 🤞🏻 Byron and Jakey are great men and I’m very lucky to call them mates! You must be a good player if you were playing with those boys 👊🏻
