    That's a good upgrade for all of us BMW owners that we have remmaped the engine and working above 20-25psi.
    I've fitted it a year now on my N13 F20 and working great.
    BEWARE: there are many knock-offs on the eBay with half the price of the original. I've bought one fake by mistake.

      Vasilis Dedousis Great reminder! It's really sad that GFB has to put up a video on how to spot a fake! Always buy the real thing from a reputable dealer.

    Tried to do this on my x drive the other day and it was near impossible. I have to have a second go at it this week. The black metal bracket below the silver piece where the axel sits at 1:30 on the x drive isnt removable like on the rwd models. Have you met anyone thats installed it on their x drive model?

    • @PaimonSorornejad
      @PaimonSorornejad 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Ok I'm running into the same problem here. It's damn near impossible. I was motivated after watching this video then realized our shielding is different. Any luck??

    Hi there, would it be possible to install this without jacking up the car?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No way, you HAVE to be under the car. There is no way to get at this from the top.

    Link is for T9357 (N20). Shouldn't the F32 435i N55 be using T9356? I ask because that vehicle isn't even listed on gfb site...

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup.. here is the updated info:
      BMW N55 Engines (ALL) Part No. T9356 (Except M2)
      BMW N20 Engines (ALL) Part No. T9357 (Compatible with the M2)

    Can you explain in details how to remove the water pumb. How many bolts in total and do we need to open any hose or just hang the water pumb on the side?
    So curious how to remove the top screw of the diverter vavle, the 2 bottom screws look Ok. Cheers

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the top screw of the DV is a pain, but I explain the video how to make a tool that will work. If you have a long 5mm allen wrench socket, that can work, which I didnt at the time. What I did was take a 5mm allen wrench, cut off the bend, then put a 5mm ratcheting wrench on the now straight bar and took the bolt out. I also just hung the water pump to the side to get it out of the way.

    Just got one for my 135i N55. Think the install is nearly identical under there?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe so yes, as the motors are the same and I often hear the setup being described very similarly.

      Perfect. Will attempt tomorrow.

  • @jamesyoung2359

    You'r DIY's are amazing! Do you think this would be similar for an N55 135i? Thank you.

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I am willing to bet the process is the same or similar if the motor is the same. You may have other components near or around it depending on how tight it is in the engine compartment, but if the same motor it should be really similar.

    Curious if after install you got a CEL. Reading info on the product it states that could be a possibility. Got one yesterday but havent installed yet. Running MHD tune so who knows perhaps the tune would take care of any CEL's anyway. Thanks.

      Thanks- I guess I should have listened to the entire vid before asking. Thanks much-good video/review. Can't wait to install mine. Picked up my car yesterday and installed MHD Stg1 right away :)

      I used the GFB one on my N55 M2 and it tripped the cel after about 5 hours of use. I took the gfb back for a refund and went to Turbosmart who have a complete plug and play unit that replaces the original diverter valve completely and 3 months and so far no issues. Highly recommend the Turbosmart option purely because it completely replaces the OEM diverter valve without the risk of damaging the OEM part by pulling it apart and reassembling.

    Im located near this spot, i have an E70 with an N55 and wanna swap this in. similar routine?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the motor is similar, then my guess would be is that it is located about the same. I know that is vague, but assuming the motor is the same then the difference would be only what is around it.. are their other pipes or motor components in the way or different than the F32.

    How much is the going rate for a shop to this job for someone who wants to do this upgrade on their BMW?

    Question, would it be easier to undo 2 bottom bolts from the bottom of the car and do the top last bolt, from the top of the car?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question.. I was unable to find a path to get at that top bolt coming down from above.

    • @takchur1
      @takchur1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Roger that, thanks. I'm planning to do this job myself as I am experiencing weird boost drops, it happens at full WOT mid pull, anywhere in the RPM range under 100% throttle, im suspecting the stock DV cannot handle stage 2 boost pressure and dumps it until it regains itself and continues to accelerate, which would explain hiccups during WOT followed by normal acceleration. Could also be a bad coil, im replacing that as well. Just hoping its not my clutch :(

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope it isnt your clutch as well.. I went a little crazy on my ignition coils, but am really impressed candidly. I got the Ignition Projects plasma coils from Active Autowerke.. they are anything but cheap, but I feel really support the rest of the build so worth it in the long run.

    looking to install an intercooler, that pretty much in the same place? worth doing together? plus on a stage 2 defintetly worth changng?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a bad thought at all.. you will have the car up in the air, the belly pan off anyway, so might as well save that effort as an improved FMIC is important. If you haven't changed your charge pipe yet, absolutely look into doing that!

      I don't believe it makes a difference, but make sure to confirm with your vendor when you buy it. As always, watch out for fakes and buy from a reputable vendor.

    Tried looking for an email address to contact you. I'm enjoying your channel. Was wondering if your 435i was Xdrive? Mine is (almost necessary for these Pittsburgh winters) and I plan on doing this install myself. If yours isn't equipped with Xdrive, do you know of anything that would be in the way? Thanks in advance!
