Just found your channel. Looking forward to seeing more. I'm over 50 . Got laid off, sold my house, went nomad. Best decision ever ❤

Wow, you're brave! We have certainly tossed the idea around, not sure if we can actually do it. We are so grateful you found our channel. Hope you enjoy it and feel free to comment and share your thoughts! :)

This just showed up in my FYP and I really enjoyed it. Contention creation lately has been a lot of the same thing (at least in my corner of the internet) and this is refreshing and a very important subject that is actually super relatable! I really enjoyed it :)

Thank you so much! It really is tough out there this time of year. A lot of organizations like to make sure they hit budgets so they end up laying off people. Sending all the good vibes your way, thanks for checking us out! :)

There is this saying that it takes 10 years to become an overnight success! I think you should all keep at the podcast, you never know when it might catch on. Maybe look to other creators, or online resources to build the podcast. Take chances, make mistakes and see what happens! I definitely think the experience you all shared is universal and happens to people late in their careers all the time, and I don't see many podcasts out there specifically of older women sharing their life experiences. I think you have something here!

Thank you so much. You are absolutely right, you never know what will catch on! We try to keep telling ourselves that. You leaving this message gives me hope. And since I am not working right now, it only makes sense I can spend time doing exactly what you suggest. Thanks again! :)

@@TheUnlikelyPodcasters I really think so you, guys have something here! Do you listen to Julie Louis Dreyfus's podcast - woser than me. It makes you think of you three. I am 31 and a lot of the content that I see is a majority of people that are my age or younger and I think there is a need for creators especially women that are in their 40s, 50s 60s + Hoppe all is going well!

I really appreciate your honesty and willingness to share your true feelings. This is a tough topic for women - but it’s happening a lot and knowing you’re not alone is comforting. Really happy I found your channel 😊

After working for 16 year for a multinational I was laid off, I was 51... sadness, anger and so many feelings are going through the entire experience. Took me a year to find a job just when I was so tired of interviews, test and other stuff. I am 57 now and the idea to loose my job terrify me. Good luck for you two ladies finding a job.

Thank you so much! Yes, all the emotions certainly creep in. Kudos to you for stickin in there and securing a new job. These tests all the time are just unreal. I can totally see how that get old real quick. Sending all the good vibes your way. :)

This arrived and seems very targeted to me 😂 Sorry you both got laid off, don't take it personally, a business is usually just aiming for an $xx M savings target, and people have to get cut to hit it. The higher the salary, the greater the savings. We had to downsize massively during covid. My role went too. I cried, even though I had suggested it. Give yourself permission to grieve your work life, your social status, your sense of self. But let go of shame, it's just business. Cut your spending immediately while it's a temporary choice (cancel monthly subscriptions, talk to your bank about reducing/pausing house payments, cut down on alcohol for your own sanity, do an honest audit of your spending as a family). What are your true base costs to cover? Then make a plan. Could you grow your income, even a day or two a week? 3 months full time on promoting the Podcast? Get a short-term boarder in a spare room? Rent your house out and move to a smaller apartment (maybe a trial before selling or the RV?). Buying land/building from scratch is a BIG step especially with teens, and could have hidden costs. Give yourself time to decide what you want for the next 10 years: don't panic and change everything at once. Good luck!

We rented our house out, took a year off, bought a caravan and went on the road. After a year we realised we can afford to be retired, so life is much easier. But who knows how we'll feel in another 4 years... Life is an ever-changing adventure. Take care!

Wow, what a great advice and thank you so much for sharing your experience. We appreciate that you took the time to respond so thoughtfully. I wrote it all down and we certainly will discuss all the options. Life is an ever-changing adventure, for sure and we need to pivot. Your experience is inspiring and has me thinking of possibilities. Glad you found us best of luck to you as well!! :)
