John 14:15 (Jesus Himself speaking): If you love me, keep my commands. James 2:14-26 (verse 26 here): For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. 1 John 5:3 - In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome And many other places in the New Testament God still requires an obedient following of believers to His Word and His commands. You are correct that the law of sin (aka the Mosaic law, aka the law written by Moses as declared by God with over 660 laws) was nailed to the cross and we don’t have to keep it, which is why we don’t sacrifice animals anymore or keep feast days or stone people who don’t obey. But the 10 Commandments which are God’s unchangeable law that He Himself wrote with His own finger (twice! When Moses broke the first tablets), that Law is and always will be intact. Matthew 5:17-18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Jesus said these words and declared until HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS not one jot or one tittle will pass from the law… last I checked the heaven and earth are still here… all isn’t FULFILLED until Jesus’ return when very clearly heaven and earth pass away and a new heaven and a new earth are created. If everything was fulfilled when Jesus died and resurrected - EVERYTHING - then we wouldn’t still be here in a sinful world. That part of “everything” isn’t fulfilled yet. We ARE under grace yes. By grace you are saved, not of yourselves lest one should boast, salvation it is a gift from God. We can’t earn it. We can’t do anything to obtain it except accepting Christ’s free gift. BUT we show God we LOVE HIM by keeping His commands. Which Jesus said the command to love God and love your neighbor as yourself “SUMS UP the law and the prophets”… The first 4 laws of the 10 commandments could easily be summed up as “love God with all your heart, mind and soul” and the last 6 of the 10 commandments is easily summed up as “love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus NEVER said the Law of God (the 10 commandments) was done away with… in fact He emphasized them by summarizing them in an easy to remember way. 😇🙏🏻
