TOAD TOWN'S IN TROUBLE
Mario and Luigi receive an invitation from Princess Peach to attend an origami festival and excitedly hurry to Toad Town…but something’s amiss. After investigating the eerily empty town, the duo finds a fearsome (and folded) Princess Peach-she’s been turned into origami by King Olly, self-proclaimed ruler of the Origami Kingdom! With five giant streamers under his control, King Olly binds Princess Peach’s Castle and transports it to a distant mountain as part of his plan to re-fold the world.
To take on these folded fiends, Mario will have to learn some new fighting skills. Face off with the Folded Soldiers in ring-based battles where you strategically line up enemies to maximize damage. Out of battle, Mario can use the arm-extending 1,000-Fold Arms ability in specific spots to interact with the landscape to pull, peel, hit, and more! Using the unique properties of paper, help Mario unfold new paths, explore vast environments, unlock the secret of an ancient ruin, brave the raging rapids, step out on stage, visit a string of islands, appear on a quiz show, and even participate in a mid-air battle!

Super Mario Bros 3 was a stage play, Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy were movies/TV series, and the New Super Mario Bros series are all stage plays *(Super Mario Maker even has you, the player, be the director, letting the stage play out the way you want it).* The Paper Mario series are a pop-up book series. I think the only one that was real is the original Super Mario Bros and after that everything else is just a retelling of the original story. In their free time when they're not acting out their roles they're all having fun having get-togethers parties, playing sports and go-karting.

to be honest, watching zack play this game, intro to end, helped me have the courage to get this game, and helped me get over the end. the man is paper mario at this point.
I watched this series 11 months ago I told myself I will come back and watch it again in a year but I just couldn’t wait and now I’m here the nostalgia is killing me.Just love the series.

I think the English version for this game is bit toned down. In the original Japanese version, The goomba in 7:03 is just a cute little kid character with a countryside accent. He was very friendly to Mario and genuinely just came into eat something good and enjoy the festival with his parents.
Which is the reason why it was a shocking moment when he died miserably in the very beginning.

The first Paper Mario game I ever saw was Color Splash, however the first Paper Mario I played was the N64 one. I loved both of them. Lets see if this game is somewhere that close

Well thats because in Sticker Star there is LITERALLY NO REASON to fight. While in Origami King it has some use and is much more fun
I've played around 45 hours with it and it exceeded my expectations by a lot. In my opinion it is a much better game than what the internet discussion suggests about it. Even most of the reviews are "it is a fantastic game but it is not RPG and the combat does not give XP, 7/10", which is really strange to me, like most people cannot simply measure this game on its own but looking at how it differs from a 16 years old game.
It is mainly an adventure, puzzle, collectathon game with beautiful graphics and music, clever and funny writing, charming story and characters and tons of unique ideas.
I personally loved the logic puzzle aspect of the combat (especially the bosses) and never got boring or frustrating to me but I can understand if someone feels different about it because it is really unusual and definitely not for everyone.
I am honestly sad that this game gets so much hate on the internet and there isn't really any discussion about it on r/papermario, only memes, because according to my experience with it it definitely does not deserve that. Not the best game of all time of course, but definitely something that adds much value to the Switch library and it's easily worth its price.

I'll admit I was excited about buying this game and then I read some of the reviews which weren't as good as I hoped. So I was on the fence. But watching Zack play has totally gotten me hyped again to buy this! I don't know why some reviews were not good but imo this game looks like a lot of fun. And I always love watching Zack play and narrate at the same time.

I loved Super Paper Mario. I have played all paper mario games but thousand year door. I have also only beaten Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star. I am busy playing /having fun playing Paper Mario and the Origami King and I love it so far. I also like Olivia. She is a good character in my opinion.
