This process can't be stopped. These houses are doomed, along with untold millions of others along the Gulf and East Coasts of the USA.

Danke fürs teilen. Aber gut finde ich das nicht, Häuser ans Meer zu bauen.

How much longer do these houses have before they turn into houseboats?

In know everybody wants to knock the people who own these homes and ask "why would you ever build there in the first place?" ... The thing is,... they were a descent amount back off the ocean 40 years ago,... there was a road and sand dunes in front. This is what sea level rise and stronger/ more frequent storms look like. Time to move unless you have the money to make your own road back after each storm! Instead of beach restoration...... howz about a more realistic and afforable concept,... a "MANAGED RETREAT".

These people live on a sandbar. Sandbars get rearranged. This is nothing new.

It wasn't a sandbar until a hurricane ian

      @@michealbruggeman145 It was a sandbar.
All of these barrier islands are sandbars or man made sandbars.

@@michealbruggeman145 I've lived in Florida all my life. I'm an avid boat. I've seen all of the barrier islands change from one year to the next. Why do you think these islands have to be renourished with sand? They put a dredging barge off the beach and pump sand onto the beach. It does ruin all of the fishing out there. It turns the bottom out there into a sandy, bottom dessert. Funny that tree huggers don't say something about that. It's all about keeping the beach pretty for tourists. It's all about money.

its been a sandbar for thousands of years. constantly changing, and constantly moving, only in recent memory has this been a problem, and wouldnt be a problem if people had not built permanent structures somewhere impermanent. this is irrespective of any real or imagined 'climate change' and simply what happens when people think they can outsmart mother nature and natural processes... @@michealbruggeman145

So what? Sand bars move. They enjoyed it for as long as they could, mow they go buy another. People can walk away you know. I see a lot of envious, small minded people talking about the weather. It’s only 329 days till I retire on a beach.
