i was shopping around for one of the d 28's. stumbled across the special d 16 rosewood, played it, omg! let me just say; if you don't need the bling , save your $$$ !
@@mikedproducer it is a hidden gem. American made, sound of the D28 and a massive savings. Unless $$ is no issue then this is one almost anyone could save for and still have Martin American quality!!!!
@@flavioborgestv Closed gear tuners vs open gear old style, machine cut dove tail neck joint vs hand cut, satin back and side finish vs gloss, plain binding and rosette vs herringbone binding and a fancier rosette on the 28. Also comes with gig bag vs hard shell case, but the bag is super padded and very nice. And the big one is $1749 vs $3000+. Both are all solid wood made in Nazareth PA. Oh yeah! The 16 has a fishman VT enhance pick up system in it. Standard d28 does not have a pick up.
@@crob8240 Imho, machine-cut dovetail is probably better, tuner can be swapped anytime, satin is more practical and usually sounds better, case can be purchased anytime.
@@LegsON Yes, but I have this guitar and I like it the way it is. Closed gear tuners doesn't bother me I like them. I like this guitar and the gig bag that comes with it is top notch.
@@crob8240 Almost always, closed tuning machines are heavier and that robs sound. Try replacing the buttons with wooden/plastic ones, and hear how the sound improves.
Ordered one with high hope, made by monkeys not me the woods were cheap and inferior and sounded like crap! Back in the box in less than 30 minutes and reported the serial number to Martin quality control. Just to say made in PA. The road series made in Mexico is much better all the way around. Shame to Martin!
You must have had a dud because most of the reviews of this guitar are glowing and saying it sounds and playas good as any HD28. I played them back to back and I garee. I was blow away by this Special 16!
I just bought this guitar! I absolutely love it
I just bought one. It definitely has the “magic”
I just bought one three days ago. It’s amazing
