I prefer to watch videos on my TV, and Twitch/Amazon dropped their support for Roku. So my only option is to give my Amazon login to a third-party app that doesn't play archived streams, which is a *hard* pass.
also, talking about the star piece from Star hill being a freebie when technically, the one from the mines is a freebie as well. The reason I say that is, you don’t fight the boss for a star piece. You fight him just because he wants to fight you and become famous. And you also fight Crocco because he stole your shit and you want to get it back. That’s it. You don’t fight any bosses for that star piece. So technically, that one’s a freebie too.
You know now that I’ve actually played this whole game I have to ask what is it that people actually liked about Geno?, so much that they want him in Smash? Sure he’s introduced as a spirit and goes on to be quite reliable all things considered but once Bowser Joins your party he barely interacts with the world at all hell Mallows story in this game had me more invested with him than Geno. I’m sure this remake has piqued interest for the characters that debuted in this game but if one of them makes it to smash I hope it’s Mallow because I like him more and people would lose their minds
The reason why Geno specifically was requested was moreso do to what he represented with the direct relation between Nintendo and Square Enix at the time. Believe it or not, Geno is actually wholly owned by Square Enix. Many wanted him in Smash due to being seen as a great opportunity for a Square Enix character to finally be in Smash. However, with the inclusion of Cloud in Smash 4, this idea has since lost its potency.
people like Geno because: 1) it's a very cool concept of a character (a doll that comes to life and uses guns and star magic). 2) Geno is a very fun character to use in battles 3) he's kinda of the "poster boy" for Super Mario RPG, what with the "wishing stars motif" and whatnot. It's much easier to associate him with the game people played when they were younger. in short: people like Geno because... he's cool. it doesn't go much deeper than that.
He’s cool! A star warrior inhabiting a combat doll? What’s not to love. And he’s a perfect fit for smash. Sure Mallow may have more dialogue, but that’s pretty irrelevant for a fighting game.
It’s entirely a matter of mechanical/aesthetic coolness. That’s not a slight against anyone who likes Geno, of course - but as you said, the forest is the only story beat where he has a major focus. As it is, there’s very little background or fleshing-out to him, which genuinely surprised me back when I played the original last year. I think he would’ve been easier to integrate if he was some sort of defective Smithy robot rather than just a random doll. It would’ve given both him and Smithy a chance to be a bit more fleshed out. Then again, it feels a little weird to me, to level those ‘what-ifs’ at a game as old as SMRPG is. Such is the nature of time, I guess. :u

This game just deepens my theory that Bowser, Peach, and Mario are in a poly relationship and have a kidnapping and rescue kink. If you start reading it that way it just seems really obvious.
