I am a retired Detroit Public Schools art teacher that is learning to play guitar. John Lee Hooker would be happy that I finally found a super teacher! Blessings from Detroit.
I see you working very hard, every week new video with new idea, breaking down a song into simplest form, then making, editing and posting video.I wonder how you do that. Big respect for you man..
@@leejohnblackmoremusic Hey the question was "i wonder how you do that".....guess the answer is : time and work and practice lol ! Keep on the good work
Your lessens are great! Especially like the pace with the finger picking that allows one to pick it up with relative ease and repeated practice. Thank you !
Great lesson. Best version I've heard. Love the energy and dynamics. Definitely adding it to my set list. Kinda knew the lick, but your version makes it worthy of play at a gig.
You really make songs come alive on the acoustic. I have a nice recently purchased Strat gathering dust while I learn the Hotel California solo and now this song on the acoustic, both of which by all rights I should be learning on an electric.
Thanks brother. I’m happy you did this. I love JLH. There are many more complex guitarist out there, but something about JLH, I can’t quite explain in terms of his style. If I could adapt anyone’s playing style, it would be his and you brought that to me. Many thanks!
You are best, same taste of music (I hope that)as me, I have learned alot riffs and songs from your site, and my guitarplaying gain miles from before and thats on two months looking on you, big thank’s from me,MatteK SWEDEN
I gotta give credit man, bc you and your talented teaching gift, this vid even tho you performed this tutorial a while ago.. I came across it luckily found myself having a blast with it. Such a fun track to learn, really thanks to you 🤙🏻
My suggestions would be go to a music store and try out as many as possible, find out what suits you, suits your body type and what sounds good for what you play. Thanks dude. Good luck 👍
Love your teaching style Lee. Your website doesn't seem to show anything- broken link ? Just found your site, good instructions. 1 song suggestion : ''Misty Mountain'' by Blues Etilicos . Thank you, Don
Thanks Dom I really appreciate your feedback and thanks for your suggestion! The link shouldn't be broken? quite worrying. That's strange because it seems to be working my end are you talking about the link to my website or links on my website?
Anybody know which JLH recording he’s referencing here? Most of the solo ones I know, he just stays on the E the whole time. But I like this more traditional blues progression approach, and would be curious to hear Hooker’s original.
Hey, so I've been trying to learn some easy classic songs all the way through, and I was wondering if you knew any that are both easy and classic that you had done lessons on. Thank you and great video!
Great video. Question, after the E5 - are you hitting an open E before and after the G (3rd fret E string)? It looks like maybe you are but it could be the loose / bendy strings with the strumming. I've been rewatching it and listening, but can't tell a 100%. Thanks
Question off topic, but do you ever have sensitive hearing sometimes when you first pick up your guitar in the morning or whatever and you first strike those strings? Took a minute to get used to.
Hi Lee! Love your lessons! If you get a chance can you have a look at Theresa by Damiyr? It sounds super easy and has a nice sound. I’d love to learn it! Cheers! 👍
Im new so sorry if this sounds silly but is this song in drop D? you sorta mentioned it at the beginning but I wasn't sure if that was in reference to his work in general or this tutorial
@Lee John Blackmore I bought my 16 yr old some his first guitar for Xmas. I used to play quite a bit years ago. I decided to start again. So many videos on TH-cam. Didn't have all this when I played. I found your channel and really appreciate how you actually SHOW the finger placement and strings. Some don't. My wife ordered a fender dc 60s for my birthday. It'll be here soon. I will be watching your channel! Love playing blues and rock. Thank you very much for your work putting out these videos. I have a small channel and can only imagine how much time you're putting into it.
@Lee John Blackmore watched this again. FINALLY got a shuffle upstroke going! It's not pretty but it's there. Thank you so much. I am aiming for srv style of playing. I'm on my 4th week of starting over after 20 years. Your channel is my go-to. 🙏🎸🙌
