    I used to race these RC`s nearly 40 years ago at a local place, I had and in fact still have my Schumacher ProCat in the shed and always wanted a Mid Turbo but could not afford one, I am in love, I want it so bad!

      Now that I've got the rere Mid I've been eyeballing the rere Procat. It looks too good and is proven to be great! But that upgraded transmission is almost $200!!

    My buddy had a hornet and one of these back in the mid 1980s. I had a grasshopper, we would take them in the woods and race then on the trails

    Kyoshos are gorgeous looking rcs, still haven’t actually seen one in person, lots of cool videos on TH-cam though, expertly assembled as usual 👍

    Nice Luke. I got mine sitting on the shelf. I got the Le Mans 240S ESC, Le Mans BLS Motor 240S 15.5, and the Kyosho Synchro Radio with receiver/gyro and KS4031-06W servo. Cost me an arm and a leg and I had to get most of it from Japan, but I wanted to do this one right...I am going to use the kit supplied decals, but like you for the sponsors, going with MCI Racing. I have a lot of re-release Tamiya/Kyosho and I can't stand all that work for generic sponsor decals. I just don't do it..

      Howdy friend, so yeah I luv these and apparently you too. I will slowly upgrade this one but I needed to put the funds into the 80’s version and then the turbo restoration videos coming up. Thank you for watching.✌️

    I use to race the Optima mid se. What a beast, always regarded selling it. Then I went to the Kyosho Lazer zxr. The mid se was a awesome car! This really makes me want to get one again lol

    Great video my friend. I’ve treated my self to one for Christmas as I’d like to run it in the vintage series. Slightly disappointed the the turbo decals are not included as I really wanted that scheme. Anyway you got some nice upgrades in there, many thanks for sharing, best wishes

    Hi there Luke, certainly well worth the wait, I’ve not got a Kyosho in my collection, always wanted one, ever since the 80’s. Maybe one day I might be lucky enough to obtain one. Enjoy and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and the family 😉😊🎅🎄

    I just ordered this kit as I was buying a new rear ball diff and body for my Turbo Optima Mid SE I've had since 1989. They'll look nice side by side. 😝

    • @hugostiglitz5186
      @hugostiglitz5186 ปีที่แล้ว

      @suprluke993 Oh I wasn't aware. Will it have a longer wheel base like the later models? My SE has a LWB carbon chassis.

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      @hugostiglitz5186 I think the same.

      @hugostiglitz5186 ปีที่แล้ว

      @suprluke993 Just looked it up, said carbon parts but no word on WB. Cool, but will probably get scalped as limited production. IDK you're more of an expert should I cancel and try to get in on it?

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      @hugostiglitz5186 no expert lol! I’d stick with the one you have coming. Brilliant thing But if you have the funds available unfortunately I have to wait as I’m saving for Yokomo dogfighter reissue.

    Great build! Love the Optima Mid. Had one back in the day but didn’t hold on to it. Glad Kyosho brought it back along with all the other legends.👍😊

    Looks great. I was lucky enough to find an original Optima Mid SE, back in the before times. I left work 2 hours early to get it, and now I've been home for the last 3 years and haven't touched it.
    Lol, I need to find a different job so I can get my time back.

    Hi Luke! Did you use Lipo or NiMh batteries on your Optima Mid? And is it ok if use NiMh batteries on mine because I'm not very familiar with Lipo. I heard they're pretty dangerous to handle. I used Nimh on my RC's from way back in the 80's and that's I'm more familiar with.

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jay if your running a brushless system LiPo is better to use. I use LiPo with a hobby wing 1060 esc and a majority of rc I build on my channel. Nimh can be used but my advice LiPo is best. Early 80’s it would be nicd batteries which were not great.

    Hi! Did you have a hard time putting in your XR10 esc inside the Optima Mid? I heard it's quite a challenge to install the electronics because of the limited space. I'm about to start building my Optima mid. I just need to finish my Optima first. How's the Hobbywing 13.5t motor by the way? Is it pretty fast? Thank you for whatever advice you can give me.

    • @LukesVintageRC

      So Jay dude, I actually run this in this video. As you’ll see I had a great time. I made a custom esc mount also in the video. Just have fun.

      Hi there, so i felt they may have been a hair off actually with my arthritic hands Lol. So A lil soapy water or windex goes a long way at positioning. Thanks for the compliment and watching. 😊

    If you want, you can get reproduction spike tires for this kit. They are not made by Kyosho. You can also get a special brushless motor for this kit and a Kyosho ESC too. However, both of these Kyosho parts are expensive. Thoughts?

    • @LukesVintageRC
      @LukesVintageRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy Alfred, so the skies the limit for these buggies-as stated in video there’s many companies that have options for this buggy. I promise to do a revisit on this buggy but it will be awhile as you know I have to do a different vintage rc restore every month sometimes two which leaves little time to go back. If I have enough interest than absolutely but there’s about 6 cars 2 trucks and a boat ahead of anything right now. Basically I’m looking to summer before I schedule the next year of projects. Thanks for watching 👍

      So Ralphy I mentioned in this video a future comparison. When I restore the 87 I’ll be able to drive both built and restored buggies as in the Marui galaxy videos. Be sure to subscribe and hit notifications for that video and more when it drops.
