That's the thing about natives... that stuff will make when the improved grasses shut down and do nothing. Course in a good year the improved grasses will beat the pants off natives, but they usually require more inputs (fertilizer) than natives which can usually get by with little/none. Later! OL J R: )

Plus the one in the middle doesn't get flipped up with the rest and the balers have a hard time picking it up that way. Someone else suggested opening the rake up, rake off-center so you're *just* catching the outside swath, while the other side is nearer to the center of the rake and putting the two together, then turn around and do it the same way going to the other way, then make a third pass and combine the two windrows from the rake together into one decent windrow. Keep the baler eating faster that way and less wear and tear running around spinning the baler and tractor trying to nibble up super-thin windrows... That's one thing I like about my bridge hitch and double rolabar rakes-- in thin hay you just keep circling making passes and rolling the windrow bigger and bigger til you get it the size you like it. In thin hay sometimes I've made four 17 foot passes before I decided to jump over and make a new windrow... Later! OL J R :)

What is the water falling in the yard? Did you get a big sprinkler?? In the last 2 months, it's rained within a mile of the shop.. not a drop here. its a sellers market here in ireland at the minute .............feeder cattle are a robbery to buy ..........the cattle in the factorys are good money also .........
Yeah they're made to run that way so any wads of hay caught between the belts drops out when the belt flips over between rollers... Just something vermeer does. Deere routes a few of the belts over another roller further forward to space them out enough to let wads fall out. Later! OL J R :)

We do some native hay here under irrigation. That one meadow was unbelievably heavy this year
