Basically I just watched all of Heimler’s History videos on TH-cam and used the active recall method for the to take notes (everything you need for the exam he covers) but for extra help you can also check our college board’s course description. Also take a couple mock exams (at least one)! Best of luck!

@@dannie1192 dbqs are the hardest, make sure you arent broad on ur thesis it should be specific , paraphrase your quotes, and if u need to I find that looking back at my old leqs and dbqs help me set a foundation or outline on how I wanna write like: contextualization, thesis, first main point, second point, third, etc. as for memorizing dates battles etc, college board doesn't trlly look for those as much as they do understanding what led up to those things. dont stay up studying, no matter what i hope we both do well!

RESULTS: forgot to comment but after ap scores came out this july i got 5 in AP Comp Sci & 4 in AP World!!! im so happy bc for ap world i studied only 2 weeks in advance by watching himler & all my teacher talked about were her cats, so we didn't get through the curriculum. my AP lit exam is in 3 days, wish me luck!! (affirm) thank you so much universe, spirits and GOD that i have received a 5/5 on the AP lit exam!! thank you !! (next update= day of exam) hi: 1 day after my exam. i only slept like 7 hours, which normally would be good. BUT GUYS FOR UR AP EXAM, PLS SLEEP MORE. I WAS DETERMINED TO SLEEP MORE.. LIKE 9 HOURS OR SOMETHING. BUT I GOT THE NERVES RACKED OUUTAAA MEE.. so i ended up studying quite a bit before the exam. my teacher said to not even study, just review some terms or vocabs. personally, i think thats great too. cuz u aint gonna improve much within the night before the exam. BUT, i would say, if you do WANNA do it, then do either a MC or essay in the morning. i would recc to time urself for 2 hrs to do the 3 essays (poetry, prose, open). i dont think i had like 2 hours, so i instead did 120 mins of 2 essays provided by my teacher. yall can get practice tests online too, if you look for it. anyways, u shlddo the 2 hr mock essays within the week of the exam date, or even like 3-4 days within. just so its not dangerously close to exam day, and you have time to get a "feel" of it and decide what u wanna do after. i would say, probs do the open essay question (the third question) the day before the exam, if you WANNA do any essays before the exam. if u dont wanna, then dont. like i said, just some review and vocab would be good. and do a MC too. or just 1 (either MC or essay). but doing a whole set of the mock exam would be jus too much NGL. i felt kinda tired during the exam. NOT SUPER tired, cuz its not like i had 3-5 hrs, i had 7, which is kinda close to 8 ideal hours. my amazing teacher had breakfast from tim hortans for us, so shout out to her! (lol). but eat a good breakie. and, bring a watch. they dont allow digital, but my principal allowed one girl to put her smart watch in front of her cuz he chill like that (?!) . BUT LIKE, DONT TAKE A CHANCE. CUZ I DIDNT, AND I BROUGHT A WHOLE ROMAN NUMERALS HOUSE CLOCK TO SCHOOL. jus do it, trust. who knows if u have a watch directly in front of u, and plus its not ideal to turn around or anything to look at the time during the exam. ANYWAYS, i finished all 3 questions, with like 2 extra mins, which is insane, cuz i cant write fast (to which yesterday i learned that my AP teacher DISAGREES WITH, I WAS SHOOKETH, BUT ANYWAYS). i would recc bringing 2 pencils, if ur extra like me (jk). cuz when i would write, i would switch the pen and the new pen would be "cold" and i liked the feel of it, and when that pen got heated up from continuous intense writing, i would switch for the previous one. (think of cold pillows). and for the MC, well i hated it. i hate it so much omg. i hope i got DECENT on it. i swear, i literally was unsure for 50% of em. thanks for reading, next update will be whenever the marks come out! side note: now that the AP exams are over, and whoever is reading this has MAX 365 days. if ur like 1 year- 6 months away from the exam, or just realllyy early. i would recc to read AP qualified books. idk abt ur class, ask beforehand what AP books u might read during the school year. i read like 4 proper lit texts (antigone, the color purple, the brief wondrous life of oscar wao and the plague). i didnt even consider the plague, cuz that book is a plague itself to me. so i basically had 3 to choose from. that's acc pretty cool. but if ur into reading i would say, read a couple more. find something YOURSELF that interests YOU to read. if ur not into reading... and ur in AP lit, maybe 1 book? but the books youll read in class would be fine. and pls see if u can do study groups. i kinda gave up on my ap group cuz ppl didnt reciprocate my energy of like "guys lets meet up on xx day and blah blah". i lowkey felt like an annoying MOM.. cuz i really wanted to, but... idk bruh. but i got me and 2 other ppl to make a google doc on ANTIGONE 3 days before the exam. if i had to go back to time, i would get that done 3 weeks prior. or even 4-5 weeks prior, so i can give myself plenty of time to work on it + do it for the other books ive read. and i would write quite a few essays a few weeks before the exam for my ap eng teacher to read. and i attended 95% of all AP prep meetings. (but those meetings are cuz of her generosity, not every AP teacher does this). but ask ur AP teacher if she can give u feedback, etc. anyways, thats it. good luck. also, i recc watching marcos learning, they did a big review stream on their YT channel the day before the exam. and also English nerd on YT, her last name is like stevens. i forgot her first name, but her YT is English Nerd. both those accnts were AMAZING. @@dannie1192 dbqs are the hardest, make sure you arent broad on ur thesis it should be specific , paraphrase your quotes, and if u need to I find that looking back at my old leqs and dbqs help me set a foundation or outline on how I wanna write like:
contextualization, thesis, first main point, second point, third, etc. as for memorizing dates battles etc, college board doesn't trlly look for those as much as they do understanding what led up to those things. dont stay up studying, no matter what i hope we both do well!

RESULTS: forgot to comment but after ap scores came out this july i got 5 in AP Comp Sci & 4 in AP World!!! im so happy bc for ap world i studied only 2 weeks in advance by watching himler & all my teacher talked about were her cats, so we didn't get through the curriculum. hi: 1 day after my exam. i only slept like 7 hours, which normally would be good. BUT GUYS FOR UR AP EXAM, PLS SLEEP MORE. I WAS DETERMINED TO SLEEP MORE.. LIKE 9 HOURS OR SOMETHING. BUT I GOT THE NERVES RACKED OUUTAAA MEE.. so i ended up studying quite a bit before the exam. my teacher said to not even study, just review some terms or vocabs.
personally, i think thats great too. cuz u aint gonna improve much within the night before the exam.
BUT, i would say, if you do WANNA do it, then do either a MC or essay in the morning.
i would recc to time urself for 2 hrs to do the 3 essays (poetry, prose, open). i dont think i had like 2 hours, so i instead did 120 mins of 2 essays provided by my teacher.
yall can get practice tests online too, if you look for it.
anyways, u shlddo the 2 hr mock essays within the week of the exam date, or even like 3-4 days within. just so its not dangerously close to exam day, and you have time to get a "feel" of it and decide what u wanna do after. i would say, probs do the open essay question (the third question) the day before the exam, if you WANNA do any essays before the exam.
if u dont wanna, then dont. like i said, just some review and vocab would be good.
and do a MC too.
or just 1 (either MC or essay). but doing a whole set of the mock exam would be jus too much NGL.
i felt kinda tired during the exam. NOT SUPER tired, cuz its not like i had 3-5 hrs, i had 7, which is kinda close to 8 ideal hours.
my amazing teacher had breakfast from tim hortans for us, so shout out to her! (lol). but eat a good breakie. and, bring a watch. they dont allow digital, but my principal allowed one girl to put her smart watch in front of her cuz he chill like that (?!) . BUT LIKE, DONT TAKE A CHANCE. CUZ I DIDNT, AND I BROUGHT A WHOLE ROMAN NUMERALS HOUSE CLOCK TO SCHOOL. jus do it, trust. who knows if u have a watch directly in front of u, and plus its not ideal to turn around or anything to look at the time during the exam.
ANYWAYS, i finished all 3 questions, with like 2 extra mins, which is insane, cuz i cant write fast (to which yesterday i learned that my AP teacher DISAGREES WITH, I WAS SHOOKETH, BUT ANYWAYS). i would recc bringing 2 pencils, if ur extra like me (jk). cuz when i would write, i would switch the pen and the new pen would be "cold" and i liked the feel of it, and when that pen got heated up from continuous intense writing, i would switch for the previous one. (think of cold pillows).
and for the MC, well i hated it. i hate it so much omg. i hope i got DECENT on it. i swear, i literally was unsure for 50% of em.

if ur like 1 year- 6 months away from the exam, or just realllyy early. i would recc to read AP qualified books. idk abt ur class, ask beforehand what AP books u might read during the school year. i read like 4 proper lit texts (antigone, the color purple, the brief wondrous life of oscar wao and the plague). i didnt even consider the plague, cuz that book is a plague itself to me. so i basically had 3 to choose from. that's acc pretty cool. but if ur into reading i would say, read a couple more. find something YOURSELF that interests YOU to read. if ur not into reading... and ur in AP lit, maybe 1 book? but the books youll read in class would be fine.
and pls see if u can do study groups. i kinda gave up on my ap group cuz ppl didnt reciprocate my energy of like "guys lets meet up on xx day and blah blah". i lowkey felt like an annoying MOM.. cuz i really wanted to, but... idk bruh.
but i got me and 2 other ppl to make a google doc on ANTIGONE 3 days before the exam.
if i had to go back to time, i would get that done 3 weeks prior. or even 4-5 weeks prior, so i can give myself plenty of time to work on it + do it for the other books ive read.
and i would write quite a few essays a few weeks before the exam for my ap eng teacher to read. and i attended 95% of all AP prep meetings. (but those meetings are cuz of her generosity, not every AP teacher does this). but ask ur AP teacher if she can give u feedback, etc.
anyways, thats it. good luck.
also, i recc watching marcos learning, they did a big review stream on their YT channel the day before the exam. and also English nerd on YT, her last name is like stevens. i forgot her first name, but her YT is English Nerd. both those accnts were AMAZING.
